"I wonder if the girl in the back seat is feeling uncomfortable right now?" Shinkata Misaki looked up at the rearview mirror, but when she saw Zhong Ling's current state, she immediately felt the disparity between people.

Chimera 17 had extended an arm and held Zhong Ling up, keeping her body slightly suspended, while the jolts and bumps transmitted from the car seat were entirely absorbed by Chimera 17's body.

Zhong Ling looked just the same as when she was on the paved road.

"Is this Chimera... this useful?" Shinkata Misaki couldn't help but squeeze a sentence out through gritted teeth.

Sun Hang glanced at her; he initially wanted to say, "It's not a Chimera, it's her mom"… but considering this might be somewhat of a hell joke, Sun Hang ultimately didn't say it.

Even though Zhong Ling probably wouldn't mind this hell joke.

"We're here." Sun Hang stepped on the brakes, and the car did a ninety-degree drift at the spot and smoothly stopped.

"Just this?" Shinkata Misaki looked out of the window at a small hill several hundred meters high, surrounded by barren land where the car lights could reach, without any markers. She couldn't help but feel a hint of suspicion.

She pulled down the goggles used to cover her eye color and silently activated her ability.

In the darkness, a multitude of overlapping red marks suddenly appeared!

"Careful! There are things hiding nearby! And a lot of them!" Shinkata Misaki immediately warned.

"Oh? Sharp eyesight?" Sun Hang didn't seem surprised. He opened the car door, got out, and showed his Hunter bracelet in a certain direction.

"Bang, bang"—two loud noises, two high-powered searchlights were lit up, revealing a carefully camouflaged camp located less than fifty meters from the car.

The camp was inside a shallow pit one meter deep and several hundred square meters in area, covered by a layer of earth-yellow camouflage tarp on top, which had an additional radar-scanning resistant special coating—making it hard to be detected unless approached even if the night ended.

Two field agents crawled out of the pit and quickly approached Sun Hang.

"Registered Hunter of Tianfu City, Sun Hang, number 0420." Sun Hang tossed his hunter license to one of them, "Ordered to execute a secret mission."

"No need, I recognize you." The field agent who caught the license didn't even look at it and returned it to Sun Hang, "You've saved my life."

"Huh? I've saved your life?" Sun Hang scratched his head, "I don't remember that. Which time?"

"The southern suburbs, loop highway, post 307." The agent said somewhat excitedly, "A Hunter's mutation went out of control, and you arrived in time to defuse the crisis! A little guy like me wouldn't catch your attention, but I remember your face very well! That day we all thought we were done for; no one expected your rescue to be so timely!"

At this moment, Zhong Ling also got out of the car, and when the agent saw her, he became even more excited: "I was a member of the Puppet Master's team back then; she definitely remembers me!"

Zhong Ling nodded to Sun Hang, indicating that there was indeed such a person in the team back then.

"Could... could you help me with an autograph?" The field agent suddenly said, a little embarrassed.

"An autograph? Where to sign?" Sun Hang didn't expect this guy to be his fan.

Never thought he had fans as well.

"Just sign on..." The agent looked at his equipment, suddenly stunned.

Signing on clothes would get washed out, and as for other equipment, all were uniformly issued and had to be returned after the mission... He thought for a while, realizing that besides clothing, pants, and boots, he hadn't taken any personal items to sign during this task.

"Forget it, skip the autograph. Take this thing as a souvenir." Sun Hang pulled out his handgun and handed it to the guy.

The fan was surprised and overjoyed; but the next moment, he calmed down: "No, no, I can't take your weapon... you're here for a secret mission, how can you give me your weapon?"

"You've got a point..." Sun Hang nodded; although his ability doesn't rely on weapons like firearms, using a gun for problems that could be solved by it doesn't waste "blue energy" to activate the ability... Sometimes, a gun is quite handy.

"How about this." Sun Hang pulled out the guy's holstered gun, "Give me your gun, as if I'm temporarily requisitioning it. Report the loss of equipment with this reason."

"Is... is this okay?"

"Why wouldn't it be?" Sun Hang slid in two spare magazines for his own, "Where are your spares? Give them to me as well."

"Sure... okay!" The agent, under the helpless and amused gaze of his companion, pulled out several spare magazines from his body and handed them to Sun Hang carefully.

"Sun Hang seems to be in a good mood." Shinkata Misaki lightly nudged Zhong Ling beside her with her elbow, "After all, meeting a fan."

Yet Zhong Ling acted as if she hadn't heard her words, not answering or even turning to look at her.

This left Shinkata Misaki unsure how to continue the conversation.

"Alright, chasing stars has to have some limit!" The companion of the agent slapped his shoulder, "By the way, Mr. Sun Hang, what's your mission this time? Is there anything we need to cooperate on?"

"Secret mission." Sun Hang placed his finger in front of his lips as if to shush, repeating key points, "Secret."

"Oh, oh, sorry... I didn't expect the confidentiality level to be so high." The agent immediately apologized, "What do you need us to do then?"

"How's Chimera 17 currently?" Sun Hang asked.

After an incident at both bunkers at the observation post upfront, this covert camp at the limits of the restricted area served as one of the closest observation points to Chimera 17.

"Same as usual... According to the intelligence sent back by robots from both bunkers, since the last mutation, Chimera 17 has not shown noticeable changes over the past seven hours and forty-five minutes." The agents guided Sun Hang into the camp and into a tent filled with display screens.

"These displays are directly linked to the observational equipment of bunker one and two; although there's signal delay of a few seconds, they barely qualify as real-time footage," the field agent explained.

On the screen, a giant cocoon emitting faint fluorescence stood quietly in the curtain of rain, the surface of the cocoon densely packed with many eerie small bumps—what appeared at first glance without zooming in, yet Sun Hang knew these bumps, looking like rashes, were actually numerous enormous human faces cramped together.

He remembered observing them through Liu Li's computer screen from the helicopter, feeling them stare back… He could confirm, these faces indeed sensed those observing them via camera, peering back at the people at the screens.

But after Sun Hang glared back, the faces shut their eyes and never opened them again.

"Have you looked at these screens, zoomed in?" Sun Hang asked.

The faces of the two special agents suddenly showed a tinge of fear; they nodded, "Seen it... many faces, chilling to look at."

"Do any of these faces have their eyes open?" Sun Hang inquired again.

"No." Both shook their heads, "All closed."
