Hunter of Mysterious Creature-Chapter 558 - 128: Fruitless Negotiation
Sun Hang didn’t think much and picked up the Deceitful Equipment sniper rifle, instantly returning to the mountain top.
He stood directly on the highest rock, raising the gun in his hand and aiming the muzzle at the distant Naitou Mountain.
However, when Sun Hang put his eye close to the sight, he couldn’t see the magnified aiming image; instead, his entire view was plunged into pure darkness.
Although the sky itself was dark, with Sun Hang’s vision, he could still make out the contours of Naitou Mountain and the vegetation on it, but when he looked through this Deceitful Equipment’s sight towards the distance, all those contours disappeared.
Only the purest darkness remained.
Along with a distinctly vivid red figure in the darkness.
Is that figure the other sniper on Naitou Mountain?
Sun Hang didn’t even need to aim; the sight automatically locked onto the target, centering it perfectly in the crosshair.
Sun Hang pulled the trigger.
The muffled gunshot dramatically subdued by the silencer rang out, and as he fired, countless mycelium surged from behind Sun Hang, converging in front of him into a massive flexible shield.
"Poof!"
The flexible shield had just formed when a large bulge appeared on its back, as if something had struck hard against its front.
After several seconds, Sun Hang finally heard a faintly negligible gunshot wafting across from Naitou Mountain.
The vivid red figure in the sight staggered, stumbling in a direction; Sun Hang didn’t move the sniper rifle’s muzzle, but the crosshair in the sight continued to follow the crimson figure, "in persistent pursuit."
If I shoot now, will the bullet curve like before? Sun Hang thought.
He pulled the trigger again, but only a crisp click sounded inside the gun mechanism, with no bullet flying out of the muzzle.
"Oh, the magazine is empty..."
The sniper previously used six bullets to kill six field agents and then performed a Mozambique Drill with a three-shot burst while pursuing Sun Hang... The standard magazine for the "Dragunov" sniper rifle holds ten bullets, and after transforming into the Deceitful Equipment, this number didn’t change. The bullet Sun Hang fired just now was the last one from the magazine.
But this problem was easily solved. Sun Hang pressed his palm against the side of the magazine, and with a thought, liquid metal slid through the magazine’s crevices from his hand, swiftly transforming into ten shimmering silver bullets.
The bullets made of liquid metal have no primer, but they possess a power even more monstrous than the primer – when the compressed metal is instantly released, the kinetic energy provided to the bullet far exceeds the terrifying power of a primer with single-digit grams of propellant.
The only worry is whether the firearm’s strength can withstand this force without exploding...
Of course, Sun Hang has a solution to this problem – simply "plating" the interior of the barrel with a layer of liquid metal.
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Sun Hang fired ten shots in quick succession, and each time he fired, the red figure paused slightly, yet after ten shots, the target was still moving rapidly towards the foot of the mountain!
Sun Hang was sure that all eleven shots he fired hit the target, especially the latter ten made of liquid metal bullets, which were far more lethal than the sniper’s own 7.62mm caliber full-power rounds – Sun Hang set a detonation countdown for the liquid metal bullet heads, and after they penetrated the target’s body, this countdown would reach zero, before exploding within the target like the "primer" just now.
In a "relatively sealed" environment, the liquid metal compressed to the critical point, without any restraint field... if the target were a regular human, even a tiny grain of this liquid would be enough to blast the entire body into a blood rain.
But this guy withstood all ten shots.
Sun Hang was certain that the target wasn’t human, at least not a normal human.
An infected? A psychic? Or a mysterious creature?
Too far to judge.
Sun Hang had no choice but to sling the Deceitful Equipment on his back and activate the electromagnetically accelerated field of the Kui Niu again.
With a loud bang, he shot up from Zhang Family Mountain like a shell, then slammed heavily into a sparse area of deadwood at the waist of Naitou Mountain.
And the one who took eleven shots from Sun Hang and did not die "just happened" to rush into the deadwood at this moment.
"Boom!!!"
The shockwave swept through, flattening a large area of vegetation. When Sun Hang stood up from the barren pit, he saw a more than three-meter-tall giant infected, kneeling at the edge of the pit, panting and glaring at him.
"Ah, it’s an infected," Sun Hang got his answer to his previous question.
This giant had a very strong mimetic aura. In terms of intensity, it’s just slightly less than an over-pressured thermobaric bomb – if he were to become a Mysterious Creature Hunter, he should be able to squeeze into the hunter ranking’s top twenty...
Twenty might be too conservative... Fifteen shouldn’t be an issue.
Though the mimetic aura from this guy gave Sun Hang a very strange feeling.
Obviously unstable, as if it could erupt at any time, yet it consistently stays below the danger threshold... as if someone added a valve on him, preventing the infection process from breaching the danger threshold unless the mimetic strength reached the level to break through that valve.
