Human Brain Farm-Chapter 408 - 393: Death Crisis
Imperial Heaven and Houtu.
God of Heaven and Earth Mother.
The latter part refers to.
Houtu, Earth Mother, both refer to the same mythological existence, Lady Houtu.
Before her stands Lady Houtu, perched upon the deck’s railing, gazing at the barren starry river outside, her eyes scanning across, seemingly always sensing someone watching her.
"Is it an illusion?"
She carefully sensed again and shook her head.
She turned her gaze back to the endless desolate planets, the barren worlds.
Such scenes are rarely seen in the Primordial Chaos universe, for every All Heavens World is prosperous and thriving.
Yet, the desolation before her stirred memories from the Old Days in her mind.
"In those old days, during the Witch-Demon Great Tribulation, countless innocent beings were massacred, incurring inexhaustible karma, just like the desolation and lifelessness before her eyes." She still remembers those times.
Overwhelmed by an endless sea of grievance and souls, the land was thoroughly transformed into a dead zone, where grievance’s cover was so wide that new life could not be born.
As the Ancestral Witch Houtu, she realized a profound truth:
[Celestial Dao is incomplete, the heavens and earth lack completeness, because there is life without death.]
Thus, she chose to attain sainthood through her virtuous deeds, transforming into the Six Paths of Reincarnation, allowing life and death to cycle.
Yet, she became a saint in this manner; she possesses equal Power of the Saint but remains the weakest of saints, not due to weak fighting strength.
It’s because her physical form is limited in the Underworld, as if a saint imprisoned, incapable of freely roaming like the other saints.
The Three Pristine Ones, the Two Saints of the West, which saint is not possessing formidable doctrine, prominent fame, and is a free and leisurely saint?
But she is not.
She can even be regarded as half-dead, unrecognized as a saint by others outside.
She continued to gaze at the stars, speaking solemnly, "How can the other saints not perceive the anomaly there? However, they dare not approach that ruin."
The saints, possessed of terrifying intuition.
Their instinctive intuition tells them:
[If they go there, it will undoubtedly result in their death, certain fall.]
Indeed, this is a laughable intuition.
Saints are the greatest beings in the Primordial Chaos universe.
Harmonized with the heavens.
Immortal and undying.
Who can kill a saint?
Yet, their intuition simply informs them, approaching that ruin will result in certain death.
In reality, these saints seem indifferent, but covertly, they hold it in more regard than the Jade Emperor and Human Emperor, they are more curious about what is hidden there....
But they simply dare not approach, treading cautiously!
Instinctively feel that the ruin connects greatly with themselves!
"But, just because they dare not go, doesn’t mean I dare not go..." Lady Houtu looked towards the sky, and coldly spoke.
Among all saints, she is the weakest, transforming into the Six Paths of Reincarnation, lacking freedom, only enduring prolonged lonely days, urging her to discover what’s hidden there.
While other saints fear death, she does not.
Might as well venture for an opportunity.
To uncover what’s truly hidden, which terrible thing capable of killing them!
"However, speaking of, what lies before me is merely a clone..." Houtu faintly said, "Yet, the fear of death hasn’t dissipated, indeed there’s a causal law in the mysterious unknown, capable of tracing some marks, following my clone, to kill my distant body in the Primordial Chaos universe."
"But, what exactly can kill us, the Immortal Saints?"
She muttered to herself.
Though, if Zhu Zhengwei hears these words, he would deduce the cause.
What within the ruins slays these saints.
Quite simple.
Within the ruins, their bodies lie sleeping.
If they consciously pursue it, and return to their bodies, their waking selves would emerge in the real world!
And upon waking from the dream, opening their eyes, the dream self naturally dies.
Awaken from the dream, returning to reality, the self within is thereby ’killed.’
For these terrifying Cosmic Saints, their dream consciousness also possesses self-awareness, instinctively choosing not to perish, thus sending strong will not to approach.
But evidently, Lady Houtu is unaware, and she decides to undertake the death-defying quest into that ruin, seeking what ancient terror lurks therein.
"Are you also a mercenary going there?"
A handsome young man approached her side.
Weakly attempting small talk.
Lady Houtu mentally evaluated.
She then turned, smiling faintly, "Yes, I’m merely a common Daoist Soldier hired by a noble family."
"I see," Zhu Zhengwei pondered, indeed his ploy of using charm didn’t work, despite crafting such a handsome image, it’s trivial to an all-seeing saint.
Zhu Zhengwei felt fear internally.
Yet still proceeded daringly to strike a conversation!
After all, he is currently a separate life form, dying is inconsequential so he shouldn’t face significant issues, considering Lady Houtu’s concealed identity.
Besides, if failing to converse and letting her return to the body, he fears receiving fatal consequence!
"Saints dare come? Reckless aren’t they?"
Zhu Zhengwei understood the truth, initially thinking saints wouldn’t dare, aiming here to disrupt their base, depleting their reserves, unexpectedly she fears not death.
"Absurd indeed."
"After all, indeed saints have resided within the Primordial Chaos a while now, their omnipotent divine powers surely have long traversed the reality universe, endlessly exploring... But generally, they avoid awakening, signifying they never ventured the ruins of Bo’er Civilization, instinctively avoiding Bo’er Ruins..."
"If intending, they would’ve come sooner, hence his presence here aims to ransack their lair, yet she unexpectedly appeared?"
"My actions this time stirred some hesitant saints, encouraging reckless life-risking arrivals?" Zhu Zhengwei inwardly bemoaned.
Feels surreal?
Such unpredictability!
Now before him, which saint is this?
Female saints are only Nuwa of the Demon Race and Houtu of the Witch Race.
Admittedly male saints are possible; indeed, from cross-dressing siblings exemplifying, when world-experiencing as mortals, they engage various identities, accept whips, interrogations, artistry...essentially varied methods.
Regardless, initiate an approach proceeding to interact, saints are lofty and unfeeling, meeting such a saint genuinely for the first time.
"I need rest." She turned and departed.
"Lady." Zhu Zhengwei called out directly, persistently, "Could you tell me your name? I fell for you at first sight."
"Unnecessary." Lady Houtu expressed surprise; her ordinary appearance still attracted fondness? Undoubtedly youthful energy.
"I’m tired, need to rest." She directly withdrew, returning inside the ship.
Zhu Zhengwei remained speechless; evidently, persistence failed, alternative measures required.
"Yet truly, he never anticipated an immediate heart-spill, becoming close friends... unrealistic; merely attempted contact." Zhu Zhengwei remained indifferent, awaiting next encounters to try another bold approach.
