How To Raise Your Regressor-Chapter 126 - Some Background Information
Chapter 126 - Some Background Information
"Do you know why the Royal Family summoned us today, New Dawn Guild Master?" The red-haired woman asked.
"I know as much as you do," Azell politely replied to the woman sitting beside him. f𝔯ee𝘸𝘦𝚋𝒏oѵ𝐞l.c𝒐𝓂
This woman was obviously one of the many Guild Masters invited today.
However, she was anything but an ordinary Guild Master. 𝐟𝙧ee𝔀e𝐛𝓃𝐨𝚟𝑒𝗹.c𝗼𝚖
No, this woman was the leader of the strongest guild of this continent, the 'Old Blood', and also the strongest human to ever exist on this continent; Jennifer Palatine.
"Do you, now?" Jennifer smiled a bit coyly.
"Yes."
One must not be fooled by the calm, gentle and slightly coy demeanour she was currently displaying, because she was way different on the inside.
Hot headed and cruel (or as some called her, 'insane'), it was said that Jennifer's might matched that of a Dragon.
As a Player from Earth, she held no regard for social hierarchy and always did what she deemed best. There were times where she had insulted the Royal Family itself.
As such, there were many voices in the upper echelons which opposed her rash behaviour and called for her to be punished.
But Jennifer's power and authority were simply too great to be ignored.
In a sense, she was the one who held the most authority in the 'Player' faction. As the name suggested, this faction represented all those who had been summoned from Earth into this world.
Under Jennifer's leadership, the Player factions was at odds with Native faction; they demanded better treatment and conditions.
And that was because a non-significant part of the humans of this continent, most of which were the higher up of the social ladder, saw the Players as mere outsiders and discriminated against them.
It was so bad that in some provinces, the Players weren't even allowed to buy a home and were required to pay a tax that was double than normal people.
One of the major reasons behind this discrimination was cultural difference. The fact that almost all of the Players had some sort of power which was bestowed upon them by the Gods didn't help either.
After all, humans feared the unknown.
And that's where Azell came in.
He was the one who had successfully called for a ceasefire between the two factions and made them focus on the true threat; the Aggressors.
He had somehow gotten the favour of the Third Princess. Under his guidance, the Princess introduced several reforms which quelled the anger of the Players.
So, while Jennifer was the one who held the most sway in the Player faction, if one were to look at the entire continent, Azell was the one held the most authority after the Royal Family.
"And I thought the Princess would have told you," Jennifer scoffed.
She never liked that a man with Azell's capabilities wasn't loyal to their side.
In fact, when Azell first made his appearance, Jennifer had acted first and offered him a pretty high position in her guild. She had recognised his potential and wanted to train him as her right-hand man.
Azell, however, rejected her offer and a joined a no-name guild.
After a year, he became its Guild Master. After another year, he became the bridge between the Player and Native factions.
She knew about his potential, yes, but she didn't think it'd be this great.
Had she known, she would have done everything in her power to get him on her side.
Little did know, of course, that everything Azell had done until now was in preparation for something far bigger than what she could possibly imagine.
To be more precise, he was trying to stop the First Being from destroying the entire Universe.
The said First Being, of course, was currently planning another of his epic pranks to fool his comrades.
One might take a look at him and think of him as a harmless child, but Samur was anything but that. He more than capable of returning everything to the Void with a flick of his finger if he so desired.
"We're not that close, unfortunately," Azell lied as naturally as he breathed.
Well, it wasn't a complete lie; him and Voloha weren't that close. Their relationship was only a business one.
It's just that this time, they were metaphorically closer than usual because both of them were dancing on the palm of a monster.
"Right."
And then Azell and Jennifer sat in silence; they didn't have anything in particular to discuss. Rather, this was neither the time nor place to discuss stuff that two Guild Masters would.
After all, they were currently in a large hall in the Royal Castle, sitting on the front seats right before the large stage.
Needless to say, they were not the only ones here.
Around 50 people were attending today's event which had been organised by the Crown.
All of those present here had been sent a formal invitation by the Royal Family.
However, everyone here knew that an invitation from the Royal Family itself was akin to a Royal decree; refusing to attend would have been similar to spitting in the face of the rulers of this country.
The thought of skipping the event didn't cross anyone's mind, however. After all, they were all attracted by the so-called 'Discovery of the millennium'.
They wanted to know what this discovery was. They might have been skeptical about this if it was anyone else, but this was the Crown they were talking about. Regardless of what that discovery might be, it would definitely be worth their time.
There were a variety of people attending this event. There were influential nobles, government officials, guild masters of the top guilds, leaders of other organisations et cetera.
They had already formed their little cliques and were theorizing about what the Royal Family was going to show them today.
The only quiet place was the area around Azell and Jennifer.
Usually, by now there would have been people trying to lick Azell's boots and get in his good books, but they decided to not do so today. That's because he was with Jennifer.
Jennifer wasn't fond of such ass licking, and she didn't hesitate to make her annoyance known. No one wanted to get blown away by her punch, so they decided to stay the fuck away.
"Ah, you're here," but there was still someone who dared to approach them.
Looks like the fuckers didn't get the memo- oh wait, they were the members of the New Dawn Guild.
