How To End This Marriage-Chapter 152: Secrets of the Heavenly Heir
"Bernice Balliol Agnes is the true heir to the Heavenly Throne!" The God of Fate, Moiroi, declared in front of the smiling library guard.
The guard chuckled. "I cannot say if your hypothesis is true, Moiroi. But I can encourage you to pursue it. Who knows, you might be on the right track."
Moiroi pondered, piecing together his fragmented assumptions. "The Supreme God hates Bernice Balliol. She defied the fate I wrote for her. She returned in time. But now she claims she’s been back before, something even the Supreme God knows nothing about. The library’s secret chamber, accessible only to the Heavenly Realm’s heir... could she truly be it?" he muttered, lost in thought as he returned to the God of the Moon.
"Where did you vanish to?" God Lunar inquired.
"I sought more information in the library. It seems the locked chamber can only be opened by the Heavenly Heir. Hence,my hasty return."
"So the Supreme God holds the key?"
Moiroi shook his head. "No."
"No? What do you mean? He sits on the Heavenly Throne! Who else could open the door?"
Moiroi dropped the bombshell. "Because he is not the rightful heir."
Lunar paled. "What are you saying?"
"The library guardian himself confirmed it. Marcus, the Supreme God, is not the heir. He will never claim the throne. The true heir remains unknown, but I’ve drawn a conclusion."
"Conclusion? Tell me!" Lunar urged.
"The one the Supreme God loathes - Bernice Balliol Agnes. She’s broken countless celestial rules, while someone disrupts the Heavenly Realm’s order. Who else could be the heir but her?"
"But how could the heir die? And why is she trapped in the mortal realm – Heaven is her birthright!" Lunar exclaimed.
"I don’t know for certain, but I believe she never truly dies. Every time she’s harmed, memories are erased, time rewinds, and her journey restarts."
"Time rewinds because of her death?" Lunar’s voice trembled.
Moiroi nodded grimly. "It’s my only explanation. If she did venture into the mortal realm, perhaps the Celestial High Council punished her for defying celestial law."
"What kind of punishment could it be?" Lunar’s brow furrowed with worry.
Moiroi’s gaze hardened. "That, we shall discover."
Moiroi stood before the library guardian, who greeted him with a knowing smile.
"Back again, Moiroi? What further knowledge do you seek today?" the guardian inquired.
"My questions are many," Moiroi admitted, "but I understand your oath binds you to certain limitations. I wouldn’t burden you. I merely come to verify something. Once my understanding is clear, I’ll be on my way."
He ventured into the library, eyes scanning the rows until he located the section he desired. "Here it is!" he muttered, pulling out book after book in search of Heavenly Realm rules. He devoured countless regulations, but the answer he craved eluded him.
"Why is there no rule forbidding heavenly beings from descending to the mortal realm?" he grumbled, startled by the sudden appearance of Supreme God Marcus.
"Supreme God!" Moiroi stammered.
"Indeed," Marcus boomed, his voice laced with anger. "Moiroi, your frequent visits to the library haven’t escaped my notice."
"What troubles you, my lord?" Moiroi feigned humility.
"Why do you linger here so often, knowing my displeasure with long visits?" Marcus growled.
"My apologies, my lord. My sole purpose is to understand the rules and avoid any missteps on your behalf. However, I discovered a locked room, inaccessible to all. Why, my lord? The library should be open to all." Moiroi probed, subtly testing the waters.
Marcus’s eyes narrowed. "Some knowledge is not meant for your eyes. That section is mine alone, forbidden to all others."
"Ah, I see," Moiroi feigned understanding. "Perhaps, my lord, you could grant me entry? I require a specific book. Once I procure it, I’ll gladly depart." He hoped to glean further information about the Supreme God’s next move.
Marcus hesitated. "Another time, perhaps. Today, I have pressing matters to attend to." With a flicker of his godly power,he vanished, leaving Moiroi alone with the tantalizing secret door.
"So, you truly are a false heir," Moiroi whispered to the locked chamber. "Unable to access your own domain. No wonder your rule holds no legitimacy. Neither the power to command. I will not bend the knee to a fraud."
His gaze hardened with newfound resolve. "Bernice must claim her rightful place. She must ascend to the throne." With a flick of his cape, he teleported away, reappearing in the royal palace where Bernice once again attempted to access the underground prison.
"Bernice Balliol Agnes!" he boomed, startling her from her task.
"Moiroi!" she exclaimed, momentarily shaken. "What are you doing here? Why have you crossed realms?"
"There’s much we need to discuss," Moiroi said urgently. "But not here. Tell me, why do you manipulate fate, defying destiny itself?"
"Isn’t it obvious?" Bernice’s voice crackled with rage. "The Emperor shall not escape justice! He will suffer through my own hands."
"Have you ever pondered why you wield such power, when others remain bound by fate?" Moiroi pressed.
"I have," Bernice spat. "The injustices I’ve endured demand this power. It’s my only avenue to reshape my own destiny.Without it, I’d drown in endless misery."
"What if your purpose is far greater?" Moiroi hinted, his words hanging heavy in the air.
"Purpose? Yes, I have a purpose to kill everyone who made me like this. Even if it goes to you, the god of Moiroi!" Bernice said in anger as she entered the prison section, where she found the emperor once again sitting in a corner, his vomit placed in front of him, made by feeding him bugs.
"Greetings, your highness, the emperor! Did you miss me?" Bernice said with a creepy smile.
"You!!!!! Leave!!! I don’t want to see you!!!" the emperor said in anger, shivering down to his core.
"I didn’t come here to leave, your highness. I came here to give you the second dose of your medicine. But I assure you it won’t be as bitter as the last medicine I gave you," Bernice smiled while walking toward him.
"Don’t! Stay away from me!!!" The emperor shouted while Moiroi kept on looking at her from afar.
"Extend your hand!" Bernice ordered, but the emperor didn’t comply.
"I said extend your hand!!!! Can’t you hear me!!!!" she shouted, pulling his hand out, making him look at her in shock.
"I don’t like repeating my words! So be obedient when I’m saying nicely," she said and made a cut on his wrist, making him shout.
"This is not even a bigger cut, and you are shouting like I killed you. Then remember the day when you made that false god come after me and sent me a monster to kill me. What would I have felt? I screamed just like you. But the pain you are experiencing is so much less. This is nothing compared to what you made me go through just to keep yourself in power," she said, glaring.
"It is hurting," The emperor repeated.
"This is not at all hurting because the knife still hasn’t touched your vein, your highness. There is no way it would be painful when only a thin layer of your flesh has been cut down but not much," Bernice said.
"Bernice, he will get his death when the law will give him his punishment. Don’t let yourself write the fate of him," Moiroi said from behind.
"And you will say, and I will agree? Who said that? Me? I never said," she said and slashed his hand once again.
"Ahh!!!! Someone save me from this witch!!!!" he shouted, making everyone alert.
"You are going to get caught, you idiot child!" Moiroi pressed his teeth and went near Bernice and pulled her by holding her waist.
As he held her, he instantly teleported inside her room.
"What the heck are you doing? Who gave you the permission to touch me?" Bernice got angry and pushed him far.
"I have no intention of touching you either. But if it were not me, you would have got caught, then you would have died once again. Can you understand the simplicity of the situation that you are behaving like this?" Moiroi said angrily.
"So what if I died? I would be returning to time once again. I would remember everything once again and give them punishment as they deserve," she said growling in anger.
"What if you fail to regress this time? What if you are unable to return in time and give these people the punishment they deserve?" Moiroi asked.
"But I know there is nothing like this would happen. I know if I can return twice, then I can return as many times as I want until I get happiness in my life, killing all these people," she shouted.
"Bernice, your anger is getting out of control," Moiroi said, trying to calm her down.
"I know my limit!"
"I know what i can do or what i can not. Do not forget i have the holy sword." she said smiling.
