Chapter 107: Perfect Counter

I woke up holding Diane. The girl was still sleeping peacefully in my arms, her ample breasts pressed against my chest. The light from the window falling over the white-haired girl made her pale skin glow as if she were an angel.

’But she’s an Assassin,’ I thought ironically, smiling at her sleeping body.

The movement of my body must have caused the girl to wake up soon after. Diane woke up still drowsy, looking at me.

"Good morning," I said to her as soon as the girl opened her eyes.

"Good morning," Diane said in a monotone voice, and then she leaned closer and kissed my lips. "Did I make you wait long?"

"No, I just woke up."

"I see." Her expression carried a certain guilt. "But what are we going to tell the others?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean Alicia and the other three. They will certainly be angry with us because you didn’t sleep with them, but with me."

Diane was right. The girls were quite jealous. Maybe Alicia would be a little understanding toward Diane, but I didn’t know how she would react.

"Well, don’t worry too much about that. I intend to talk to them for you."

"That’s not what I mean—" Diane was interrupted by a loud knock on the door. When I heard that abrupt sound, I could feel icy gazes directed at us.

"So that’s where you were?" Sarah said to me in an icy tone.

When I turned to look at her, she was staring at us in a threatening way. Ah, and of course, Alicia, Erina, and Justine were looking at us the same way.

"Girls, I can explain," I said, stepping forward, trying to protect Diane from their fury. "Diane isn’t at fault for any of this."

The girls really did seem to be in a bad mood. Even though Diane was a skilled Assassin, I don’t think she could face three Valkyries and Erina alone. My intention was for everything to end peacefully.

"We know, Rick," Erina said to me in a cold voice.

"Eh?" I let out a sound of surprise. I didn’t expect the conversation to take that turn. In fact, looking more closely, their eyes weren’t directed at us, but at me.

"The one truly at fault in all of this is you," Justine said with a sharp look that could pierce through my skull.

"No wonder Diane wouldn’t refuse your advances," Sarah said, her blue eyes as cold as the northern sea. "I doubt any of us would refuse."

"Your crime was not coming back," Alicia said. Out of all of them, she looked the most frightening. Usually she was cute, but sometimes she had a yandere look that scared me.

"Was it really that serious?" I asked.

"OF COURSE IT WAS!!" the four of them said in unison.

"I thought I was lying next to you, and when I looked I was in the middle of Sarah’s breasts," Alicia said, visibly irritated.

"That doesn’t sound so bad..." I told her.

"And I woke up right in front of Justine’s butt," Erina said in an offended tone.

"In your case, I’m a bit suspicious..."

"Anyway," the girls spoke in unison, "How do you intend to make up for your mistakes?!"

I took a deep breath. My Valkyries really become wild when I sneak away during the night. I’d better remember that next time.

...

Fortunately, I ended up getting away unscathed from the girls by using my charm and giving each of them an apologetic kiss, though they were still a bit sulky with me. I updated my status as soon as I woke up, because not only had I obtained all the skills the girls gained in the last exploration, but I had also gained 8 status points for sleeping with Diane.

I decided to put all my points into magic this time, since it would be the most important stat for today’s exploration. I intended to face Derug that day, so the more damage I could deal to him with magic, the better.

I asked Joseph to lend us the largest bucket they had, filled with water. I also asked him for canteens so we could store the Holy Water after it was prepared. He brought canteens from the town’s miners, who were willing to help.

There was more than we could carry without hindering our mobility. We were very happy with the support, but we told Joseph we wouldn’t need that many—just a few canteens for each member of the party. Now all that remained was to turn the water into Holy Water.

"Alright, now I should use my skill," Alicia said as she approached the water, but I stopped her.

"Actually, Alicia, I think it’s better if I do it. Now I have that power too, and I’d like to preserve your mana for today’s fight," I told her. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Thanks to Drain Sword, which I acquired thanks to my night with Sarah, I now had a skill that allowed me to take mana from my enemies. In other words, I had almost infinite mana and the healing skills necessary to defeat all the undead. I had basically become the perfect counter to this dungeon.

Because of that, spending mana to produce Holy Water wasn’t costly for me at all, since I could easily recover it afterward. The same couldn’t be said for Alicia. The blonde girl understood and responded with a nod.

I extended my hand toward the water and called upon my skill. "Holy Blessing."

The water glowed with the golden aura of my skill, and a few seconds later it became crystal clear, sheathed in divine power. It now had the property of curing curses, but for today it would help send the undead to the afterlife.

The only problem left was Dark Veil. That cursed skill of Derug could render all our efforts useless. Not even the Holy Water would be able to affect them if that demon used it. That is, if I didn’t also have the perfect plan against him.

I smiled at my Valkyries and said, "The moment of truth. Let’s go!!"
