How Did I Become an F1 Driver?-Chapter 79 - 73: British Grand Prix
Chapter 79: Chapter 73: British Grand Prix
Looking at Qin Miao lying on the ground like a dead dog, Kong Youming managed to remain calm on the surface, but internally he truly admired this young man.
According to Qimeng, Qin Miao was just an ordinary person without professional training, having only done some simple fitness exercises at the gym.
This can indeed be verified by Qin Miao’s complete lack of knowledge about Kong Youming’s training subjects.
Yet, such a person did not give up halfway, despite his boss identity, during this high-intensity training he faced for the first time; rather, he persevered and completed it all, which took Kong Youming by surprise.
After all, in his stereotypical view, rich second generations like Qin Miao generally can’t endure hardships. He’s trained rich kids wanting to race in F3 before, none of whom could complete even the basic training initially.
Although the basic training he arranged is just a warm-up compared to real F1 drivers, it poses a huge challenge for an ordinary person without a foundation in physical training wanting to accomplish this the first time.
Those who can stick through it are extraordinarily determined individuals.
Hence, Kong Youming initially thought his boss was merely dabbling, wanting to hire a physical trainer to experience what it feels like to be a race car driver.
Faced with difficulties, he’d likely give up there and then, and Kong was already considering visiting headhunting websites for a new job.
But now, looking at Qin Miao in pain yet still gritting his teeth to endure, Kong Youming suddenly had a feeling that this job might last quite some time.
After resting for over half an hour, Qin Miao slightly regained his strength.
Ignoring the discomfort throughout his body, Qin Miao opened the system panel to check his fitness improvement.
The result was pleasing; Qin Miao’s stamina score had risen from 57 to 59.
Though only a slight improvement compared to yesterday.
However, yesterday, Qin Miao had trained for full three hours to achieve a slight improvement, yet he trained for just over forty minutes today.
"Boss, don’t overdo it, let’s stop for today. Avoid taking a hot shower at the gym; it’s better to shower with lukewarm water." As Qin Miao regained some strength, Kong Youming removed the ice packs attached to Qin Miao.
Qin Miao nodded and replied: "Thanks for the hard work."
"It’s all part of my job."
...
After the morning training, Qin Miao found Qimeng still reading at the coffee shop opposite the gym.
Seeing Qin Miao surprised the girl a bit: "Why did you finish so early today?"
Qin Miao sat beside Qimeng, leaned on the table, and spoke weakly: "Having skills makes a difference; less than an hour was more effective than yesterday’s three-hour session—he worked me to death."
Qimeng reached over and smoothed Qin Miao’s slightly damp hair after his shower, saying: "At least it shows the money spent wasn’t in vain, right?"
Qin Miao merely hummed twice, having little desire to speak at the time.
Qimeng chuckled before saying: "I want to watch his training method beside you starting tomorrow."
Qin Miao puzzled: "Aren’t you going to take the agent certification exam? How do you have time to watch me train?"
Qimeng shook her head in frustration: "I can’t take it now—a minimum of work experience and a diploma is required for the agent certification exam. I’m not eligible yet."
Qin Miao nodded in understanding: "No worries, there’s always the future. We have time."
Qimeng nodded, quickly switching to another topic: "Do you want to go abroad for a trip?"
While Qin Miao was discussing future growth plans, the topic suddenly shifted to traveling abroad: "Where to?"
"England!"
Though Qin Miao initially didn’t have many ideas, hearing the destination gave him bold intuitions.
He took out his phone to check today’s date—June 22, 2019.
Vaguely remembering that today was the opening day of the French Grand Prix, followed by the Austrian Grand Prix next week, then the British Grand Prix two weeks later.
He indeed applied for a passport, and the visa issuance typically takes about fifteen days. If they apply next week, they might actually catch the British Grand Prix!
Thinking about this, Qin Miao’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
Qin Miao didn’t believe having the system meant he could drive in F1, as no F1 driver doesn’t start from karting as a child, relying on years of experience and intuition with racing cars to sit in an F1 cockpit.
But not being able to become an F1 driver doesn’t diminish Qin Miao’s love for the sport. Having the chance to attend a Grand Prix event firsthand was something Qin Miao looked forward to.
Seeing Qin Miao’s excitement when hearing the destination, Qimeng couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh.
Catching Qin Miao’s ecstatic gaze, Qimeng nodded: "Just as you guessed, we’re attending the British Grand Prix."
At that moment, Qin Miao didn’t seem to feel his fatigue. He dashed over and, to Qimeng’s surprise, picked her up and spun her around twice in place.
Although today is Saturday, it’s not even 10 AM yet, and there are hardly any customers in the coffee shop.
The few customers who were there just smiled faintly and paid no attention when they saw the commotion was caused by a rather good-looking young couple.
"Put me down, so many people are watching..." Qimeng rarely blushed.
Qin Miao, coming back to his senses from his excitement, scratched his nose awkwardly, then carefully observed the surroundings. After confirming that no one was giving them strange looks, he put Qimeng down and sat back in his seat.
However, Qin Miao instinctively held onto Qimeng’s hand, and the two of them leaned in close to start whispering.
...
The following days gradually returned to calm, and Qin Miao’s life started becoming more regular.
Every morning after getting up, he would run three laps around the community to warm up, then go for breakfast. After breakfast, he’d take a quick shower at home before driving to the gym, where he’d go through his routine training.
Qin Miao initially thought the first day of training was already pretty extreme, but as time went on, his daily training volume kept increasing.
The morning training sessions were truly a bit painful for Qin Miao, but the improvement in his physical attributes after training was delightfully gratifying.
A steady increase of two points every day, who wouldn’t be thrilled?
However, Qin Miao thought that besides Kong Youming’s relatively scientific and suitable training method, another major contributor was the health potion given by the system.
Because since he started drinking the health potion daily, no matter how exhausted he was on the first day, he would always wake up the next day feeling refreshed and energetic, without any sense of physical fatigue.
Besides that, Qimeng also learned a lot of training methods from Kong Youming, though she hadn’t put them into practice.
After finishing their workout, there would typically be an hour or two left in the morning, during which Qin Miao and Qimeng would sit in the coffee shop together, and Qin Miao would buy some books about driving to study.
Although Qin Miao was a naturally gifted driver, these books could still improve his driving skills and knowledge to some extent.
This feeling of improving together with a loved one made Qin Miao quite happy.
At noon, the two would find a nearby reputable or untried restaurant to have lunch together.
In the afternoon, Qin Miao would return home and sit in the G-force chair he assembled himself to train his track proficiency, while Qimeng continued her studies.
They both had their own goals to strive for and a bright future ahead.
And during this time, quite a few things happened.
As a neighbor, Fan Yue came to see Qin Miao several times.
Once at noon, just after Qin Miao had returned from having lunch with Qimeng, Fan Yue wanted to invite Qin Miao to eat, but Qin Miao, who was already full, declined.
The second time was at night, after a tiring day when Qin Miao had just gotten off the simulator. With the force feedback fully on, every time Qin Miao finished his track proficiency training, his hands would shake badly, causing him to miss several nights of playing CSGO.
Fan Yue wanted to invite Qin Miao to visit the night market, but seeing Qin Miao in such a drained state, she felt too embarrassed to speak up while standing at the door.
The third time, Fan Yue got up really early, saying she wanted to work out too, and asked if Qin Miao could take her to train together.
Qin Miao immediately saw through Fan Yue’s frequent and inexplicable attentiveness as to why.
To be honest, Qin Miao felt secretly pleased; after all, a goddess who never gave you the time of day suddenly showing you all this attention is enough to make any man float a little.
But Qin Miao knew the reason behind Fan Yue’s diligence and realized that without that Ferrari, Fan Yue might not even bother with him.
The most important thing was that he now had Qimeng, and Qin Miao would never think otherwise.
So, when faced with Fan Yue’s request to join his morning workout, Qin Miao flatly said he wasn’t going to work out today and drove straight to the gym.
This was a clear indication that he didn’t want any more contact with her.
But Fan Yue, who had always been the center of attention, whether at home or at school due to her pretty looks and elegant demeanor, was not used to such rejection.
Now being bluntly rejected by Qin Miao, she couldn’t hold it together anymore. After snapping a picture of Qin Miao getting into the Ferrari, she went straight to their classmates’ group chat and started making sarcastic remarks about him.
Stuff like: [After getting some money, you don’t care about your old classmates anymore.]
[With some achievements, you start looking down on people.]
And [Some people think they’re so great just because they have a bit of money], and other similar remarks popped up. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Every word didn’t mention Qin Miao, but every word was about him.
Unfortunately, she didn’t realize that Qin Miao had been so immersed in leveling up his stats lately that he hadn’t even glanced at his phone, let alone the QQ group.
He spent most of his time training, and the limited leisure time he had was spent chatting and reading with Qimeng, doing all the little things that couples love to do. He had no clue what was happening in the group.
