As dozens of Duskguard Knights pushed through a wooden barricade, the Vale men were fighting back valiantly against them, hitting them with arrows and throwing javelins at them. Despite their efforts, the Valemen could not do much against the advance, their attacks being shrugged off by the might of the terrifying enemy.
They had head of the power that the Duskguard bore, the immense strength each knight and even a lowly infantry had, but they could not begin to comprehend the sheer brutality they were capable of. A single Duskguard knight could walk towards an onslaught of arrows, his armor protecting against the majority of the damage, and even if the arrows managed to pierce flesh, the Knight simply ignored it. A single swipe of their sword or axe was enough to cut down a several men with ease.
Ironoaks stood no chance; the Knights who tried holding the Seat would soon be obliterated by the incoming Duskguard.
They had a semblance of hope when the Valemen spotted two Targaryen dragons flying in the sky above them, thinking that the Targaryen army would soon come to aid. And while King Jaehaerys did send men to help, they were held up by the detachment of Duskguard that intercepted them, halting the reinforcement.
The entirety of the Vale had been completely overrun; only Knights and those who resisted were completely slaughtered, while the innocents were kept prisoners in the Castles, Forts, and towns that they had seized.
In the matter of days, the Duskguard was able to take the Houses of the Vale by surprise and cripple any resistance. The army that could be mustered by the Valemen to aid House Arryn would put up a good fight if they were not taken by surprise by the might of the Duskguard. But it did not matter, as House Drakkengard's military force was the greatest in the Realm.
No. The world.
And everyone will remember that.
As several soldiers were pushed back by the Duskguard Knights, a single squire stepped back and tripped, falling on his rear.
"Ah!" He said as blood suddenly sprayed on his face
He looked up with a shocked face to see the knight in front of him impaled by a spear. The Duskguard Knight holding the spear pulled it out and kicked the Vale Knight, throwing him into the ground as he bled out.
"N-No...." The squire said as he looked up at the Knight
The Knight ignored him, his stone-cold mug visible through the helmet he wore, almost no emotion in his eyes. He simply walked past the squire and proceed to thrust his spear at more Knights who tried fighting back, impaling them with ease and creating more corpses.
The Squire then began to crawl to the side, blood spraying all over the dirt and more corpses collapsing in front of him.
"G-Gods...." He said as anxiety filled his entire body, "Someone help me..."
He was crawling behind the barricade when a single boot planted on the ground in front of him, prompting him to stop.
He looked up to see a Duskguard knight wielding a warhammer, swinging it in front of him and crushing a Vale Knight's head with ease. The Duskguard simply swung the hammer again and sent three more knights flying away as blood flew everywhere. The sound of crushing bone was but a disturbing one.
The squire simply stared in pure shock as the Duskguard simply walked forward, swinging his weapon at any standing Knight in front of him.
"No way...." he said as his lips quivered, "It cannot be....."
He then heard a loud rumbling and looked up at the sky, massive amounts of red mist gathering in the air.
Suddenly, bright lights flashed, and he saw multiple projectiles fly from the sky and strike the battlefield in front of the advancing Duskguard Knights. Massive shockwaves was erupting as shouts and screams filled the air, dismembered limbs falling from the sky.
The squire saw that the projectiles were massive spears that were flung from the sky, seemingly out of nowhere.
"W-What..." he said
He then felt a massive thud as a cold chill ran down his spine.
He slowly looked around to see that, along with a group of Duskguard Knights, a lone figure walked, emitting nothing but dark mist. A Knight clad in black armor, far blacker than those that the Duskguard wore, with plating like dragon-scales that were obsidian. The helm was that of a horned dragon, with the horns curving downwards and the eye-slits glowing bright red.
The squire saw that the Knight's cloak was flowing in the wind, and the cloth resembled flowing darkness as he kept moving forward.
On the Knight's hand, a black spear with a long and pitch-black blade was held.
The Squire noticed that the space around the figure was slightly distorted, as if his presence disrupted the natural order that was this world.
"W-What is that....?" He whispered as the onslaught happened around him
What was before him was the God of War.
And he was angry.
Drakken stopped right before the barricade, seemingly not noticing the squire as he leaned against the wooden spikes and looked right at him.
He then spun the spear to point the blade downwards and planted it on the ground, and right after, he crouched down to touch the dirt below him.
"Is this enough?" Drakken said, "Is it enough.....?!"
Suddenly, the ground began to shake violently as the fighting ensued.
The squire noticed that from the dirt and blood, a dark flame-like aura began to seep through and rise up into the air. He was seriously unsettled by this, watching the aura begin to rise into the air as he heard a strange clattering sound.
"What is going on?" He managed softly as he felt nothing but fear in his body
He looked around to see that the armor and weapons of all of his fallen comrades began to rise into the air and suddenly fly into a single spot.
As the weapons and armor clashed into each other, a bright white light shone from the spot, red and black lightning crackling in the air. The ground and air began to shake as a violent wind began to blow in towards the light.
"Ah!" the Squire shouted as he was hit by a rock which was flung by the wind
He then saw that the massive amount of weapons and armor began to form the shape of wings, grotesque, which were connected to a bright orb of light.
The squire then heard a deep growl which shook him to his core, freezing him in place. This growl was unlike anything he had heard before, almost like something that was not from this world.
The Squire saw that Drakken lifted his spear from the ground and leaned it against his spear, looking up at the massive wing constructs.
"So....." Drakken said, "How does it feel?"
".....The Laws of this World prevent my True Form from manifesting...." A voice said, "But this is well enough. The glory of Battle, the thrill of War.....that is what fuels me...!!"
Drakken proceeded to walk forward and through the hole in the barricade, "I am glad you're liking this..." He said as he walked by the Squire, "Sol'Tyr."
Then, in a swift motion, he thrust his spear at the Squire, impaling him with ease. The Squire widened his eyes in shock but in that split second, his life was immediately snuffed out by the God of War.
"Enjoy this war." Drakken said as he pulled his spear out, "This will take a while."
"Find me a Vessel, Drakken!" Sol'Tyr said
"Find it yourself." Drakken said as he walked towards the fighting, "You Aspects of mine keep doing things without my consent."
"If that is what you want." Sol'Tyr said, "I shall do it!"
"The World will know my name!!!"
