House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 139: The Sword III
Chapter 139 - The Sword III
(Drakken's POV)
"Are you sure this is how you planned this?" Jon asked as he pointed at the map in the table in front of us, "Some 'unaffiliated' ships attacked Myr, Tyrosh, and Braavos. Which is quite broad tactic, if I say so myself. As we speak, they have taken arms and are sailing across to demand answers. It was made seen that they have connections to Westeros."
"Hm..." I said, "Good. And with that, you think a little self-defense is in order?"
"Yes." He said but pointed at Dragonstone, "But Corlys Velaryon has made landfall at Dragonstone, making contact with the King."
I nodded, "And?"
"Reports say he does have the sword." Jon said seriously, "I can have Olyver make a move. He will handle Corlys and take the sword away. It is the only way to disarm them."
I shook my head, "No." I said, "Not yet at least. We wait. Wait until the Essosi get here and get House Targaryen on their toes. Chances are that they are plotting to use the Sword against me. If House Martell and House Dayne are with them, they will probably rally an army to march towards us. Which is foolish, nobody can stand a chance against the Duskguard."
"Not only that, your Draconic Beasts." He said
"We won't use them." I said, "Not for this one. The Duskguard is enough. Here's the deal...."
I ran my finger along the Stormlands coast.
"Draw the Essosi, or at least the majority of them, to the Stormlands." I said, "That way, the Dornish will be diverted towards them instead. When that happens, have our Duskguard join the fray. If the Westerosi turn on us, play along. Make it seem like they have a fighting chance."
"My Lord?" Jon asked
"Worry not, it is all part of the plan." I said, "Make them think they have an advantage. False hope and confidence is all I need for them to have."
"I see...." He said
"We don't know what Corlys is planning with the King so we can wait for that." I said, "I will have my women and sons stay here in Harrenhal. I want you to take your forces to King's Landing and do not act until I give the signal. When they have carried out their plot, I want you to give a little resistance, just a little."
"Minimal resistance? They will know that something is wrong." He said
"Perhaps." I said, "But with some newfound power that can give them hope, they will ignore that feeling and will have tunnel vision. Then, they will try their best to use that weapon against me. My hunch is that the reason they brought House Dayne is because they want that sword they have as well; Dawn or something. Whoever the Sword of The Morning is will try to fight me with me.....or at least that is what I would do."
"So to make sure I understand this." Jon said, "The Essosi forces we riled up; they are to be lured to the Stormlands along with the Dornish. When that happens, the Duskguard will have forces there fighting and in case the Westerosi turn, we are to only show minimal resistance. The same with my forces in King's Landing. But mine won't act until you give the signal."
"Yes." I said, "Have Olyver continue his information network up."
"As you wish." He said, "This is the excitement you desired, My Lord?"
"It is more than that." I said with a slight smirk,
"It is entertainment."

[King's Landing, A Few Days Later]
"How can you be so sure that it is true?" Alysanne asked the King, "This could be a trick!"
Jaehaerys sat on the chair, "It is no trick." He said, "What I saw.....it is truth."
They were in the King's Chambers, discussing the plans that Corlys had made. When Jaehaerys clutched the Sword, he had a vision of a winged figure being impaled by the very same sword, combusting into flames. He wholeheartedly believed that this was Drakken being killed by the power of the sword.
Aemon and Baelon sat on the couch in front of where Jaehaery sat.
"This...." Baelon started, "This is too good to be true."
"Agreed." Aemon said, "I do not understand...."
"What I felt...." Jaehaerys said, "Was pure power...almost like a fraction of the power of the gods...I believe that from beyond.....our Gods have blessed us with the means to end this farce....."
"The Gods?" Alysanne asked, "Our Gods? The Seven?"
"They do not want Drakken to further taint our lands....." Jaehaerys said, "This is what we need. This is exactly what we require. We can free our Family, our people, from him. Our daughters have not been defiled by him, we can save them from the fate I had succumbed them to...Maegelle can go back to being a Septa....and Saera.....she can do what she wants....."
"She wants Drakken." Aemon said, "If all of this is true....if that Sword can truly kill Drakken, what do you think will happen? House Drakkengard still has those monsters!"
"He is the source of their power." Jaehaerys said, "He is a self-proclaimed god, after all. If he dies, they will die with him. And so will the power of the Duskguard...they will be a regular army afterwards....and Army that can be defeated by our Dragons."
"I do not know about any of this." Baelon said, "After everything Drakken has done, do you truly think he will simply fall for a plan like this? Using Corlys's tactics to lure him out to King's Landing and stab him? It is too risky, what the hell is that fool thinking?"
"Corlys wants me to call Maegelle....." Alysanne asked, "But what if she is not allowed."
"Maegelle has clearly influenced Drakken." Jaehaerys said, "She will convince him to come to the Capital alone. Once that happens, he will be alone....we will ensure that our daughter is safe."
"I still have my doubts." Aemon said, "There is so much to think about, Father."
"If you don't want to help your Family, then don't!!!" Jaehaerys shouted, "Begone from my sight! I do this for the sake of the Realm and our House! Do you, My Heir, not see that?!"
Aemond stood up, "You don't seem to understand my doubts!!" He shouted, "This is not some man that can be manipulated with ease, even with Maegelle's influence!! Drakken is something else, something above us! Centuries worth of experience is what he has; that of Tormenting and Warring. He will know something is wrong and will clearly act, violating the promise of peace he has placed!"
Alysanne walked up to Aemon, "Calm down....."
Baelon sighed, "This is worse than we can imagine." He said, "Let us say that this power is true....what is stopping Drakken from obliterating everything in his path to ensure that sword stays in our hands. Sure, we have Dawn but I don't think it is the same....."
Jaehaerys was about to speak when the doors opened and Septon Barth walked in.
"Your Grace." He said, "We have a problem....."
"A serious one."
