Horrific Shorts: Zombie Edition-Chapter 539: Story : Sunset Siege
The blazing sun hung low in the sky, casting a blood-red glow over the city as the undead emerged from the shadows. The Titan was gone, but the destruction it left behind had drawn more zombies than ZETU had anticipated. They came in waves, pouring through shattered streets and broken alleyways like a tide of death.
Captain Marcus Kane stood on the roof of an abandoned diner, surveying the chaos below. The streets were alive with the grotesque movements of the horde, their hollow eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. Marcus clenched his jaw. The survivors they had come to rescue were barricaded inside a nearby church, and time was running out.
"Status report," he barked into his comm.
"East side's swarming," Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett replied from her vantage point. Her sniper rifle cracked as she took down another zombie. "If we don't move soon, they're going to breach the church."
"Blaze, Shield, you're on extraction duty," Marcus ordered. "Clear a path to the church and get those people out of there."
Jenna "Blaze" Hart revved her flamethrower, a wicked grin spreading across her soot-streaked face. "With pleasure, Captain."
Derek "Shield" Coleman adjusted the straps on his riot shield and nodded. "I'll keep her covered."

"Brain, we need an exit strategy," Marcus continued.
"Working on it," Ethan "Brain" O'Connor's voice crackled through the comm. "There's a maintenance tunnel under the church that leads to an old subway line. If you can hold off the horde long enough, I can guide them out."
Marcus turned to Lila "Huntress" Navarro, who was checking her dual pistols. "Huntress, you're with me. We'll draw their attention and buy the others some time."
"Let's make some noise," she said with a smirk.
As Blaze and Shield charged toward the church, Marcus and Lila descended into the chaos below. Marcus's shotgun roared, blasting through the advancing zombies, while Lila's pistols danced in her hands, each shot precise and deadly.
The horde turned toward them, drawn by the noise. Marcus and Lila moved as a unit, weaving through the undead and drawing them away from the church.
Blaze's flamethrower lit up the dim streets, carving a fiery path through the zombies. Derek stood at her side, his shield absorbing the blows of clawing hands as they pushed forward.
Inside the church, terrified survivors huddled together, their faces pale. Blaze and Shield burst through the doors.
"Move, now!" Blaze shouted, her flamethrower keeping the advancing zombies at bay.
One by one, the survivors descended into the maintenance tunnel. Ethan's voice guided them through the darkness.
Outside, Marcus and Lila found themselves cornered, the horde closing in.
"We're out of options, Captain," Lila said, reloading her pistols.
Marcus glanced at the burning skyline. "Then we make our stand."
Just as the horde surged forward, a deafening explosion tore through the street. Riley's voice came through the comm.
"Got your back, Captain."
