Horrific Shorts: Zombie Edition-Chapter 535: Story : The Crimson Flood
The skyline glowed faintly under a sickly yellow haze as the team moved across the fractured rooftops. The remnants of the swarm below stretched for miles, their glowing eyes cutting through the shadows like dim lanterns. Captain Marcus Kane led the group, his shotgun slung over his shoulder, his focus razor-sharp.
"Stay quiet," he ordered, his voice barely a whisper. "One noise, and they’ll be climbing these walls in seconds."
The team advanced cautiously. Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett scanned the streets with her rifle, her sharp gaze never resting. Lila "Huntress" Navarro moved just behind, her twin pistols at the ready. Derek "Shield" Coleman brought up the rear, his shield strapped to his back as Jenna "Blaze" Hart checked their supply of explosives.
As they reached the edge of the rooftop, a sharp metallic groan echoed through the air. The corroded bridge ahead—half-collapsed and hanging precariously between two buildings—seemed to sway under an unseen force.
"That’s our route?" Jenna asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Unless you want to tango with the horde downstairs," Marcus replied. "Ethan, status update?"
Ethan "Brain" O’Connor’s voice crackled through the comms. "Not good, Captain. I’m picking up increased activity in the southern sector. Something’s driving them into a frenzy. It’s like they’re being... herded."
"Herded?" Lila asked, her voice tight.
"Yeah," Ethan confirmed. "And it’s heading your way."
Before anyone could respond, a deep, guttural roar shattered the silence. The ground below seemed to shift as an enormous zombie—a Titan—emerged from the swarm. Its glowing eyes burned brighter than the others, and its massive frame towered above the horde. The undead around it moved with unnerving coordination, as if responding to its will.
"New plan," Marcus said, tightening his grip on his shotgun. "We cross the bridge, now!"
One by one, the team stepped onto the narrow metal beams. The structure groaned under their weight, but they pressed on. Below, the Titan let out another deafening roar, directing the swarm toward the building.
"They’re climbing!" Riley shouted, firing at the undead scaling the walls.
Jenna tossed a grenade over the edge. It exploded in a fiery blast, sending several zombies plummeting to the ground, but more kept coming.
"Faster!" Marcus urged as the team reached the middle of the bridge.
Suddenly, the Titan grabbed the base of the building, its immense strength shaking the structure violently. The bridge buckled, and Riley lost her footing, slipping toward the edge.
"I got you!" Derek shouted, grabbing her arm and hauling her back onto the beam.
"Move!" Marcus barked as cracks spiderwebbed across the concrete supports.
The team sprinted toward the other side, leaping onto the rooftop just as the bridge gave way. Behind them, the Titan roared in frustration, its massive hand clawing at the crumbling ledge.
"We’re clear," Marcus said, breathing heavily.

"For now," Lila replied, staring at the Titan below.
But the ground trembled again as more Titans emerged in the distance, their roars signaling a new wave of terror.
