Chapter 740: Father-son relationship

The Ferris wheel slowly descended from the sky.

When it touched the ground, Charlotte was sitting there, still a little dazed.

Happiness...

She felt that happiness was simply peacefully coexisting with this man.

She slowly turned her head and looked at the man leaning against her shoulder. Robert Stephens was slowly raising his head. When he saw her turn her head, his gaze fell on her face.

Unintentionally, their eyes met.

The carriage swayed slightly as the Ferris wheel came to a stop.

Charlotte gently said to him, "We’re here, be careful, I’ll help you down."

Her tone was indescribably gentle, even her lowered eyes looked soft.

Robert Stephens gazed at her gentle brows and eyes. After a moment, he slowly raised his hand and placed his pale fingers in her palm.

The staff came over and helped Charlotte to assist the man from the Ferris wheel into a wheelchair.

Due to Robert Stephens’s health issues, he couldn’t participate in many regular activities in the amusement park. George Stephens was very understanding. After riding the Ferris wheel, he didn’t make any requests that would worry her but only said he wanted to have a meal on the lawn.

Charlotte was also afraid that Robert Stephens would be exhausted from being outside for too long. When George said he wanted a picnic, she agreed immediately.

Soon, the staff brought a picnic mat. Charlotte opened the picnic basket that was brought along and, with George, laid out the snacks and drinks on the mat.

George Stephens looked up at the surrounding fallen leaves and asked Charlotte, "Mom, can we come again next spring?"

Charlotte looked up and saw a touch of sadness on his face, feeling a bit strange: "What’s wrong?"

"Wouldn’t it be more beautiful when the flowers bloom?" George looked at her seriously and said, "That’s what books and TV say."

Charlotte didn’t know how to respond and instinctively looked at Robert Stephens. The man was leaning on the wheelchair, supporting his face with one hand, and his snow-white, transparent eyelashes were half-closed. Seeming to sense her gaze, he slowly opened his eyes.

He raised his hand and waved George over, calling the child to his side.

George ran over and hugged Robert Stephens’s hand, "Teacher?"

"Isn’t it nice to have your mom and me with you today?"

George kicked the fallen leaves on the ground, "Autumn isn’t fun."

He stubbornly believed that picnics should only be in spring.

Robert Stephens patted his little head.

"A family’s outing isn’t about when it happens, as long as your mom and I are with you, understand?"

Kneeling halfway on the picnic mat, arranging desserts, Charlotte’s heart trembled slightly when she heard the words "a family," and the mung bean pastry rolled down from her fingers.

"Will Teacher come with me next year?" George curiously asked.

"If the teacher has time next year." The man replied.

Charlotte couldn’t help but look up, a little tentatively at Robert Stephens, who was talking with the child. He glanced at her, then subtly withdrew his gaze. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Charlotte pursed her lips tightly, only feeling like a guilty conscience.

What did Robert Stephens know? He knew nothing, how could he know that George Stephens was his child?

She softly called the child over.

"George, don’t cling to the teacher all the time, come have some milk."

George responded, hopping over to her, took a sip of milk from her hand, then grabbed a piece of mung bean pastry from the ground and ran to feed it to Robert Stephens.
