Hogwarts: The Mafia Lord of Slytherin-Chapter 636: [] False Gods Enter
Just then, streaks of black mist flashed across the sky. Figures manifested on the battlefield, ruthless and devastatingly powerful.
Their mere appearance inflicted heavy casualties, all of them on Erwin’s side.
The Sect Leader of Kunlun quickly led his disciples to regroup, a move mirrored by the leaders on the other fronts.
High above, Erwin glanced at the newcomers. "I didn’t expect these defective items to serve as your backup plan."
He turned his gaze to Emperor Zheng Qin, who remained entirely unfazed by the disdain in Erwin’s voice.
"Have you never heard the saying, ’Even trash has its use’?" Emperor Zheng Qin smiled, convinced he controlled everything. "These defective items may be flawed, but they clarify the battlefield."
Emperor Zheng Qin pressed on, "What? Aren’t you going to help your people? These false gods are flawed, yes, but their power is beyond that of ordinary wizards. Your men lack the divine strength to match them."
Erwin shook his head. "Some flawed products steal divine power, attempting to become gods without the authority to command it. Do you truly think they can cause real trouble? Even if your world shares the setting of that powerful ruler from the main dimension, you lack one crucial element."
Emperor Zheng Qin frowned. "What are you implying?"
"He will never underestimate anyone, especially an enemy he doesn’t understand," Erwin said calmly. "The world is progressing. False gods remain false gods; without authority, they are vulnerable. And if they can die, they can be killed right in front of you."
Emperor Zheng Qin was about to retort. In his view, these false gods were failed experiments lacking authority, but their raw divine power was overwhelming. None of Erwin’s forces possessed comparable strength, so how could they turn the tide?
Yet, things did not go as planned.
While the false gods devastated the initial wave of wizards, the battlefield began to shift. The leaders organized counterattacks immediately.
Emperor Zheng Qin frowned as he watched the false gods’ advance stall. "I admit, I underestimated them. But so what? They have no way to counter divine power. Their energy level is an insurmountable gap. This is fate."
"Is that so?" Erwin smiled. "Do you really think I have no countermeasures?"
Emperor Zheng Qin was taken aback.
On the battlefield, a small team had materialized from nowhere. It was small—Charlotte, Sunny Finch, and a few others. Their faces were young, their methods inexperienced.
Yet, they were actually harming the false gods.
Emperor Zheng Qin exclaimed, "When did this happen?"
Erwin didn’t answer. Charlotte’s team had been prepared from the start. Erwin knew of the false gods’ existence and had devised a way to deal with them.
As soon as they appeared, Charlotte’s team disengaged from the main battle and launched a targeted assault.
Emperor Zheng Qin scrutinized the team, his gaze landing on Charlotte’s shoulder.
Ebony was perched there, emitting a faint, pulsing glow.
Emperor Zheng Qin stared in surprise. "That cat? It possesses divine power—and amplifies it for others to use?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Erwin replied, "Think of it as a creature created by the world’s self-preservation mechanism. Your Majesty, you don’t actually believe this world wants you to leave, do you?"
"What do you mean?" Emperor Zheng Qin asked.
"The meaning is profound. The world itself has no sentience, but it generates things like pre-programmed sequences to protect itself. Your attempt to break through the barrier has had too great an impact; how could it allow it? However, it has no choice but to find me through subtle clues and use me to stop you. You are different from the gods of the wizarding world. Their purpose is to ensure the world functions normally. Once they establish the rules, their duty is fulfilled, and they can leave. But your destiny is to unify the six kingdoms and lead them down a path, not to leave."
There was another reason Erwin didn’t mention: Ebony’s appearance was partly orchestrated by the System.
Emperor Zheng Qin watched the false gods fall one by one. Whether he was processing Erwin’s words or already knew the truth, he didn’t refute them.
After a moment, he spoke. "So, Erwin, was this all part of your plan?"
Erwin replied, "What kind of plan is this? It’s simply responding to whatever comes my way."
Emperor Zheng Qin nodded. "Seeing your performance, I am even more curious about the world outside the walls. I truly want to know what kind of person the real Founder you speak of was, to have such a brilliant descendant as you."
Erwin chuckled. "Actually, if I hadn’t come to this world, I wouldn’t have known that I am a descendant of a bloodline preserved from the old lineage. I always thought that line had long since perished, and that all its members were extinct. Speaking of which, I should thank this world. If it weren’t for it, I wouldn’t have known that the ’charming ancestor’ others joke about is actually mine."
Erwin and Emperor Zheng Qin exchanged lighthearted jokes, though a growing killing intent emanated from them.
If one ignored the Purple Dragon and Black Dragon locked in combat behind them, one could almost believe they were close friends despite the age difference.
Emperor Zheng Qin stood with his hands behind his back, watching the false gods being killed one by one on the battlefield.
His expression was neither sad nor happy, as if those who died were not his subordinates, but merely insignificant pawns.
Moreover, his indifferent demeanor was not feigned; he genuinely didn’t care.
