Chapter 582: Chapter 191: Carrel’s Time Reversal (Part 2)

Carrel walked quickly up the stairs without hesitation, went into the boys’ dormitory, and rummaged through Harry’s locker and trunk under the bed.

He quickly got what he needed—the Invisibility Cloak and the Firebolt.

Harry’s Invisibility Cloak, Carrel had heard about many times in their adventure stories, but when he actually put it on, he realized it wasn’t as handy as he had imagined.

His figure really disappeared completely from sight, but his voice, his scent, were not blocked.

If there were only voices but no figures in the castle, it might make some existences more suspicious.

Like Dumbledore... and also like the House-Elf.

Carrel folded the Invisibility Cloak into his backpack, then found an old sheet to wrap the Firebolt; just a broom wouldn’t be too conspicuous.

He carried the items and slipped out of the doorway, praying desperately not to be noticed by Dumbledore as he walked briskly down the corridor.

Suddenly, he felt a strange chill at his back, making his scalp tingle. Carrel shuddered, jumped up in fright, and unconsciously revealed two pointed teeth.

Turning around, he realized it was Peeves blowing air at the back of his neck. The prank-loving fellow found Carrel’s reaction hilarious, clutching his belly and laughing loudly.

After his violent heartbeat calmed slightly, Carrel remembered the previous scene, squinted his eyes a bit, and asked, "Peeves, are you satisfied with such simple pranks?"

Peeves’ smile disappeared, and he looked at Carrel, discontentedly asking, "What do you mean? Do you want to try my more formidable tricks?"

"No, it’s not like that." Carrel showed a mischievous grin similar to Peeves’, saying, "I have a big plan that will turn the school upside down, even give Dumbledore a headache. Want to join?"

"Haha, what prank can trouble Dumbledore? Sure, sure, I want to join!" Peeves said happily, "What’s your plan?"

Carrel’s heart was pounding, and he lowered his voice, "It won’t work if I say it aloud, you just need to do me a small favor... in two hours, right here, help me distract Professor McGonagall."

Peeves loved the sight of chaos and people’s worries, and soon he hopped away with the mission entrusted to him by Carrel.

Watching the quirky ghost’s back, Carrel felt for the first time the clear force of the turning wheel of time.

As if everything he was doing at the moment was to bring about the reality two hours later.

If he could go back to the time when Byrd came to deceive his parents, or to the time the family was at the airport, trying to change all the tragedies how big an impact would it have on the future?

Could he really, as he desired, let his parents live safely?

Carrel bit his lips hard until he tasted a trace of blood. He walked absent-mindedly, but his feet instinctively took him to the destined place.

Filch had just returned from outside the castle, patrolled around, chased out some couples hiding in secluded corners, and punished two students with cleaning duties; only then did he feel satisfied and ready to return to his office for some rest.

Mrs. Loris followed with her tail high, arrogantly trailing her owner. She first noticed Carrel pacing at the door, meowing to alert Filch.

"Carrel Johnson?" Filch squinted his eyes, looking at him with bad intentions, and asked, "What are you doing here?"

He glanced at his room door, worried that this Gryffindor or his accomplice might run in and cause trouble.

"It’s like this, Mr. Filch," Carrel said with urgency, walking quickly over, "I just saw a few Slytherin boys... they... they forcibly took a junior girl into the bathroom..."

"What?" Filch was shocked, his eyes widening, breathing suddenly hasty, hands clenched with anger yelling, "Who are those brats? Where are they?"

"Just Crabbe, Goyle, Montague... and Flint," Carrel casually blurted out the names of some unpopular students, saying, "At the underground classroom side, near the Magic Potion Materials room... but I also heard them say changing it to the common room is safer..."

Filch dropped his cane and ran swiftly, muttering angrily, "So many years! So many years without such vile incidents happening at the school! I must hang those brats up and give them a good beating! Expel them all from school!"

Carrel hurriedly chased him, raising his voice to suggest, "Mr. Filch... Mr. Filch... don’t you think... reporting to Professor Snape first would be wiser..."

Filch paused, his expression slightly changed, and after thinking for a moment unwillingly nodded, "You’re right!"

Filch wanted to personally catch those students, but he also knew well he couldn’t enter the Slytherin Common Room, and secondly, if the students indeed got provoked, his magic-less self couldn’t fight those little snakes.

He switched direction, rushing toward the office of the Professor of Potions.

Carrel slowed his pace a bit, and when the distance increased, he stopped, hid in the corner, watching Filch "bang bang bang" as he knocked open Professor Snape’s office door.

Soon, the two rushed toward the bathroom Carrel mentioned, the Professor of Potions’ black Wizard’s Robe spread out like a cloud of death.
