His Witch Queen-Chapter 140: Derek’s Son?!
Alice’s confusion didn’t rest easily but with time, she managed to tame her emotions strongly. There was a sense of hesitation that crawled but nevertheless, Alice knew that these feelings are seemingly to be forbidden.
’I must be overthinking.’ With this thought, Alice drifted back to her deep slumber, waiting until the next morning to rise and to cross the new hurdles on their path.
....
NEXT MORNING
The next morning was beautiful as always. Alice opened her eyes, to find the sunshine coming from outside. When Alice got up, she adjusted her clothes properly. Afterwards, she unzipped the tent from inside to find that the rest of the soldiers of the troop were already awake, ready.
Stepping out from the tent, Alice saw each one, as Cyrus walked by her side. "Good morning. I hope you had a nice sleep last night."
"I was fine. What about you guys?" she inquired about the rest with the same concern and fluffy smile.
"We were good with ourselves. Adonis brought us the plan. He went in the middle of the town to find that there were most of them locals. If we want to live here,we can’t live with these clothes." Cyrus told her with the utmost seriousness.
In response to him, Alice’s brows curved upwards, Deep down, she had expected this outcome since they weren’t belonging to this place.
To mix up well and avoid being caught, dressing as rest of the locals would be the best idea
"So, do we have to wait for their clothes?" Alice questioned and Cyrus passes her the nod. From behind, he motioned to V, who brought the clothes to them and extended his hand to pass them to Alice. "These are your clothes, princess. Adonis brought them as well as clothes for you."
"Oh, thank you."
Alice spoke while glancing at the lady’s clothes. It was slightly brown, with a waist belt. Along with this, there was a crown-like necklace that needed to be worn on the head as well as in the neck.
Alice decided to go inside of the tent to change her clothes. To guard it, Cyrus decided to stand outside until she appeared out. He was standing there as if her watchguard
But on the otp of that, he didn’t want anyone to have any look at his wife. His protectiveness for her, especially in the new Vampire kingdom, rose gradually. There was no shift in his strong actions since he knew that vampires still wish to have the taste of blood.
And his wife was the perfect source.
After a few moments, he felt the zip behind him opening again. Roasting himself he viewed Alice stepping outside of the tent.
At first glance, he still noted how beautiful she looked. Despite wearing the rugged and dusty clothes of the locals, nothing can hide her beauty behind her mirror.
As if, either a princess or not, she was born to steal everyone’s heart for sure.
"Is everything alright?" Alice’s voice pulled him out of his daze to find her giving him an awkward gaze. "Everything Is fine. You look beautiful in this."
"T-thank you then.." Alice’s cheeks slightly blushed when she lowered her eyes. Taking a deep breath, he saw her still playing with her nails in nervousness.
But to divert her attention, he spoke, "We have decided that we will be going into the forest today. Time is precious and for all of us to reach upto your father before he leaves for gazelle Kingdom, we will need to reach there and stop him."
"But do you know who this man is, whom General Ryan mentioned? We don’t have his house number, or where he lives. Nor have you seen him, so how will you recognize him?"
Alice’s question was very much valid. Knowing said that he had simply put his trust in general Ryan’s words, the hope that the truth and physiology of him being really still there out to be true to him.
"We will see." was all he muttered before gaining the attention of his troops who were also ready to go along with him.
Out of the seven, it was decided that three will stay back. V, Shane, and Pete weren’t tagging along with them in the forest land. They would stay to protect the tents and make sure that no one from the Ontex Empire hears about their presence until Prince Cyrus approves.
At last, they decided to walk on the foot to reachi the inner side of the forest. It was still hard, as per what Cyrus described to them.
It was said that they will have to go in the middle to find a horse in the woods. That was the little description.
Inside the vast forest, Alice knew how her heart skipped a beat. Sha had clutched Cyrus’s hand tightly with her fluttering eyes to shift here and there.
Moreover, her mind totally went acing or even went inside this place.
"Will you be able to come with us? If You want, you can stay back in the tent." Cyrus gave her the choice but Alice took the other way around. "I’m better off with you."
Hearing her answer, a faint smile curved on Cyrus’s lips. He didn’t react much immediately but, they all decided to come inside the deep forest where everything was muddled up.
With each cautious step, they all danced to make their way inside of the forest. Two soldiers were at the front and two at the back. Each of them held their swords with utmost grip in their hands.
It was the route of the hurdles. As they went deeper in the forest, she realized that it had started to fade out the sunlight of the day. It was getting harder to see through the original light so, their solder lit up the fire at the place and carried a wooden stick.
Till now, they reached the better half. Without Knowing how much time passed, hours probably. The beads of sweat filled Alice’s back but she carried her strong will to the next core.
And, at a certain distance, Alice’ eyes had caught a sight of something.."Is that a chimney I’m seeing or something else, Cyrus?"
"Where?" Cyrus asked, to which Alice pointed in the certain direction.
She wasn’t sure but her heart told her that this was the correct way she pointed.
It was still very much suspicious for them since no one could predict what was the right way to entertain them. On top of that, things never appeared peaceful either.
While everyone’s eyes tested at the chimney from where smoke came out, did they all find it troublesome? "This..can be the place, princess. The princess had said it right, maybe here is the man whom we are searching for."
"But why will a man live in the middle of the forest like this?" It was Dreak who questioned, still not understanding the physiology behind all the materialistic things.
Even Prine Cyrus was doubtful before he answered back, "We will get answers once we entertain the man and find him. Let’s see if that is the shelter he took."
His grip tightened around Alice’s hand to pull her along with him. They, both with others, walked in the direction of the shelter and the small wooden house. It wasn’t big enough, still sufficient for a family of two or three to live.
The pathway wasn’t smooth either. There were rocks in the middle, holes which drifted them from their way. Along with it, the darkness around them was hard to invade. Only a brief of sunlight entered through the spaces of the big trees which were far taller than regular ones.
Within the next few minutes, they all were standing at the front of the house.
Alice’s eyes rotated to look at Cyrus and back at the door. "Who will knock then?"
"I will do it." Cyrus took the initiative. He left Alice’s hand in the middle to finally walk ahead. Behind Cyrus, all the soldiers had kept their swords ready for attack any moment. Meanwhile, Alice brought her hand near her heart. ’I hope there is no danger...’
Taking a deep breath, Cyrus brought his hands trembling due to fear. What if this isn’t the right location? Tons of unsaid questions raised like fountains.
But suppressing all the emotions currently, he managed to calm his nerves and finally knock on the door. From inside, he heard footsteps coming towards the door.
At last, the door of the house was ultimately opened by an old aged man, who had a white beard and aged body. "Who are you here to meet?"
"I-I..I.." Cyrus’s strumming voice made the old man annoyed. A rebellious gaze landed on the old, "If you are here to take shelter then I don’t provide shelter in this forest! Go and see someone else!!"
"I’m from the Gazelle Kingdom." Cyrus finally blurted the truth.
Just as the words left the tip of his tongue, he sensed the drastic change in the man’s eyes. A layer of mist passed, which changed his expressions to more examining one.
The old man took a few steps forward to come near Cyrus. He kept his chin high, with his eyes traced all the way around Cyrus.
"Y-You are....Cyrus..? Derek’s son?"
