Chapter 77: Vanessa’s Oath

The morning atmosphere at the Sanders house was different, much quieter and quieter. There were no screams from Selena and Rosa who were fighting over make-up, there was also no sound of Vanessa screaming in front of Diego’s room to wake him from sleep so he could join the breakfast together. Quiet and strange, that’s the right word to describe the current atmosphere of the Sanders family residence.

Gina herself, who had woken up early because she was doing yoga, had now joined her grandmother at the dinner table.

"Where are the others? Why is it just the two of us, Grandma?" Gina asked confused.

"Nothing else, from now on you are the only grandchildren in this family," said Yohanes loudly from the stairs.

Hearing the words of the grandfather made Gina immediately turned towards the stairs. "What does it mean?"

Yohanes didn’t answer Gina’s question, the man just sat quietly in his chair as if he had never received any questions from Gina who was now staring at him without blinking.

"Grandpa..."

Yohanes smiled. "Finally, after almost two weeks of living in this house you just wanted to call me the right one, Gina."

Damn, Gina immediately clenched her left hand which was under the table hearing her grandfather’s words.

"Yohanes .."

"What? Am I wrong? What I said is true, this child just called me Grandpa today," said Yohanes flatly cutting his wife’s words.

Gina shook her head slowly, Gina canceled her intention to open her mouth again when she saw her father was seen coming down the stairs. Gina remembered what Julian did last night, Gina unconsciously smiled at her father who was now walking towards her.

"Good morning, baby," said Julian gently to Gina after he suddenly landed a kiss on Gina’s forehead.

"Morning," Gina answered quietly.

"Good, how was your sleep?"

Gina smiled. "I had my best sleep last night, no dreams without waking up in the middle of the night."

Julian, who had just sat in his chair, immediately froze at Gina’s words. "Without waking up in the middle of the night? Do you often have nightmares, Gina?"

"Not very often actually, at least three or four times a week."

Prank..

The spoon Barbara was holding fell onto the plate.

"Jesus, are you serious?!" Julian shouted in surprise.

Gina nodded her head innocently, she didn’t realize that this morning had become the center of attention at the dinner table.

Julian who sat across from Gina immediately reached out to try to grab Gina’s hand, but because his hand didn’t make it across the dining table, Julian finally got up from his chair and immediately moved to the other side to join Gina.

"Since when has this been going on, Gina?" asked Julian worried, the man was even now kneeling in front of Gina by gripping Gina’s hands.

"Since my mother’s death."

Julian’s lips trembled, holding back tears.

Meanwhile, Barbara who sat beside Gina immediately hugged her from behind. "Now you don’t need to be afraid anymore, honey. You’re with us, with your family. There’s nothing else you need to be afraid of," she said softly as she embraced Gina.

Gina smiled. "I hope so."

"What else do you need to be afraid of when you are about to take the title as Julian’s first daughter, Gina?"

Gina, Barbara and Julian immediately turned their heads at the same time to Yohanes who was casually sipping his coffee. Even though he was silent, Yohanes still looked annoying and arrogant, really a man who was easy to hate.

"What do you mean, Dad?" asked Julian confused.

Yohanes who was lazy to explain then clapped his hands calling Charlie his personal assistant who had completed all the tasks he got last night, the silver-haired man then handed over some documents to Yohanes.

Yohanes arrogantly handed over the document Charlie had just handed over to Julian who was already standing beside Gina.

"Open it."

"I really don’t understand what-"

Julian’s words were stifled when his eyes managed to read the writing in the container he was holding, his hands even trembled at this time. A simple dream that he wanted since Gina grew up in Sandra’s womb has finally been achieved at this time, Gina’s status in the Sanders family is getting clearer now. Because the file clearly states that Georgina Sanders’ name has been officially recognized as the first daughter of Julian Sanders for her first marriage to the late Sandra Garcia, which automatically makes Gina officially become the first grandchild of the Sanders family, replacing Diego Alvarez, who is Vanessa’s first child with her first husband before married Julian.

Julian’s eyes glazed over at his father. "Dad..." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted?" Yohanes asked dryly.

Julian looked down, he couldn’t say anything. Finally, after almost 19 years of marriage with Sandra recognized, even though Sandra is now dead. Feelings of sadness, anger, and happiness mixed into one suffocating Julian’s chest at this time. He almost fell if his mother didn’t rush him to sit on the chair.

"What file did you show Julian that made him react like this, Yohanes?" Barbara, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke.

"You can also read it to find out what happened."

Shit! An annoying old geezer, in a situation like this he can still upset everyone.

Barbara, who was tired of her husband’s behavior, finally grabbed the paper that her son was still holding.

Silence.

For almost two seconds Barbara had not acted, until suddenly the old woman hugged Gina tightly again. Gina’s hug was so tight that it was difficult to breathe, fortunately there was a waitress who noticed Gina’s discomfort. The maid bravely clapped Barbara’s hand to tell her what had happened to Gina.

"Oh my lord, I’m sorry dear, Grandma was just too excited to let go," Barbara said in a very high tone, almost the same as screaming.

Gina who was filling her lungs with lots of oxygen didn’t respond to her grandmother’s words, she really didn’t expect her old grandmother to be able to make her almost faint from running out of oxygen.

Seeing what Gina was doing made Yohanes chuckle, what the hell. For almost 35 years since the death of his beloved daughter Yohanes laughed and it amazed Julian and Barbara, they couldn’t believe they would see John laughing again and the reason he laughed was Gina. A child whose birth he had not acknowledged for years.

Unbeknownst to Julian and the others, all their activities at the dinner table had been recorded by one of Vanessa’s loyal servants from the second floor secretly, although their conversation was not recorded clearly, all their movements at the dining table including the rare laughter of Yohanes Sanders were recorded with good. After feeling that the recording was sufficient, the maid then sent it to the mistress who was currently staying at Diego’s apartment with her two daughters. Last night after Diego left, Vanessa, who had not been able to accept her son’s departure, immediately followed him by driving her own car with Selena and Rosa who did not want to be left behind.

This afternoon Gina is very beautiful, extraordinarily beautiful even. Wearing a knee-length mini dress with beautiful white high heels attached to her legs, thirty minutes ago Vanessa invited a make up artist to come home to do Gina’s makeup. Vanessa deliberately invited a make up artist to make Gina more perfect on this happy day, because at this moment Gina doesn’t look like the usual Gina.

Even Julian could hardly believe that his daughter was so beautiful when she finished using her make up, Gina’s feminine side immediately appeared at this time.

"You’re very beautiful, dear," Barbara said quietly admiring Gina’s beauty for no matter how many times she said that.

Gina, who was uncomfortable getting compliments continuously like that, couldn’t help but smile widely, baring her white teeth without making a sound. Actually, for God’s sake, Gina really wanted to remove all the product that was attached to her face. Especially the false eyelashes that are now beautifully perched in both of her eyes which made Gina open her eyes at first, but because she was currently in an important place, Gina finally couldn’t stop herself from going to the bathroom and clean his face.

"She’s my daughter, Mom," said Julian softly, joining Gina’s teasing. Although actually what Julian said was a truly sincere and honest expression from deep within his chest.

Barbara smiled widely. "How about you keep looking like this, honey?"

"What? Me? No thanks, it’s enough for me to be a guinea pig like this once," Gina replied in a panic with both hands waving.

Again, Julian and Barbara burst out laughing at Gina’s words. Today they had laughed countless times and the reason they laughed was Gina, Gina and Gina. The girl really has a special place in her family’s heart at this time, including in the heart of Yohanes Sanders, who has been stealing glances at Gina for a long time. Seeing Gina dress up made Yohanes’s chest warm, a glimpse of Gina’s face full of make up made him think of Julian’s sister when she was still the same age as Gina today. Her proud daughter was the same as Gina at first, completely refusing when asked to use make-up or just wear women’s clothes. Exactly what Gina is doing right now.

Julian and Barbara’s happy laughter had to stop because they were invited in. Yohanes as the person who applied for Gina’s status sat on the officer’s bench who is currently holding all of Gina’s personal files including Julian and Sandra’s marriage certificate which Gina brought along with her mother’s death certificate.

After being in the courtroom for almost thirty minutes, Gina finally officially became Julian’s first daughter which automatically made her the first grandchild of the Sanders family, replacing Diego Alvarez, who now officially does not bear Sanders’ name again. Actually, it is not the status as the legal daughter of Julian Sanders that makes Gina happy, what makes Gina happy is that the marital status of her parents has now been recognized by the Spanish government even though her mother is now dead.

Julian himself even had tears in his eyes when his marital status with Sandra was acknowledged by the judge, almost 19 years of waiting has finally come to an end today. Even though at this time he couldn’t embrace Sandra’s body and share his happiness with her because she was in a different world.

Patrick Davidson, who was part of Julian’s happiness, asked them to take a picture together, as a family for the first time. Yohanes and Julian sat beside Gina’s right and left while Barbara stood behind Gina, putting her hands on Gina’s shoulders in the first pose. After that, like a professional photographer, Patrick again directed the Sanders family to take pictures in a variety of warm and fun styles. In some shots, Gina seems to be smiling widely without realizing it.

I don’t know how many glasses have flown from Vanessa’s hands, currently in the living room of Diego’s penthouse apartment, which is his engagement gift with Kiara from his stepfather, it’s a mess. Almost all the glassware scattered on the floor because of Vanessa’s crazy behavior, the woman went wild uncontrollably when she saw the video footage given by her maid. Last night’s anger that had just subsided a few hours ago flared again when he saw the video of the Sanders and Gina’s family happiness.

Even though she couldn’t hear what they were talking about, Vanessa was sure they were happy because of the departure of her son Diego, whom she had prepared for nearly 19 years to become John Sanders’ successor.

"Fuck, you damn little bitch. What a slut, how dare you mess everything up..."

"Fuck..."

"No... I’ve sacrificed for 19 years, I can’t give up everything for a rotten bitch like you."

"I just managed to get rid of your mother, let alone you damn girl. Laugh while you can, laugh as long as you can. Because believe me after this I will make you live in hell, I swear..."

"Aarrggg..."
