His soul-Chapter 572: Prayers for Diego
Because the allotted time was up, Vanessa was pulled away from Diego’s lifeless body. Vanessa, who is still not satisfied with venting all her annoyance on Diego, refuses to be separated from her son’s stiff body. Vanessa struggled and tried to hold on to Diego, but her strength was lost by the two officers who were already prepared. After Vanessa was successfully removed from Diego, several officers came to take Diego’s body to the morgue to be bathed and properly prepared before being put into the coffin.
Vanessa screamed, calling out Diego’s name who was getting further away from her. Her soul was shattered, her heart shattered to see the body of the son she loved so much being carried away by the officers away from her. Unable to contain the sadness, Vanessa collapsed. She fell unconscious, her love for Diego was so high that she couldn’t accept what had happened to Diego.
Because Vanessa still had to attend Diego’s funeral, the two female officers immediately moved quickly by bringing Vanessa to a more comfortable place to wake her from her fainting. Vanessa still has to attend Diego’s funeral as Julian had previously requested, Julian wants to give Vanessa a chance to see her son one last time before being buried.
From where he stood, Julian and Massimo and Charlie and Martin saw Diego being taken to the morgue to be bathed and properly clothed before being put in a coffin. The four men of different ages were silent and did nothing, they only watched from a distance as officers brought Diego’s body into the morgue.
"How long will it take them to finish?" asked Julian quietly, breaking the silence.
"Not sure yet, sir. They’ll have to sew up Diego’s gunshots before getting dressed and that’s going to take a while," Charlie answered quietly.
Massimo squeezed Julian’s hand gently. "We’d better go straight to church, we’ll wait for Diego there, Dad."
Julian nodded. "Okay."
Massimo then led Julian to walk towards the exit to go to the church which is not far from where they are today, Diego’s body will be prayed for in the church before being taken to the cemetery. While there was no one else present at the event that Julian hadn’t wanted to keep offering his final prayers for Diego at church, it was at least one of the things he could do one last time as a father to Diego.
Arriving at the church, doctor Peter immediately greeted Julian. Worried about Julian’s condition, the doctor immediately came specifically to make sure Julian was okay. Feeling that Julian was in good hands, Massimo then left the church. Since five minutes ago his cell phone kept ringing, he knew who was being so curious right now. With lips covering Massimo’s smile staring at Gina’s name and photo on the screen of her cellphone, Gina posted a maternity photo taken with Massimo one week ago as her profile picture. Massimo is also currently using that photo as his cellphone wallpaper, a happy photo of him with Gina who is waiting for the gem of their heart to be born.
"Baby..."
"Why did it take so long to contact me, what have you been doing since earlier, Massimo?" Gina immediately cut off Massimo’s words who had just contacted her.
Massimo smiled looking at Gina’s face on his cellphone screen. "It’s only been an hour apart from you. I miss you so much, what is this sign?"
"Ish don’t talk nonsense, I don’t want to hear it. Now tell me what happened, did Diego already..."
"Diego is currently being prepared in the morgue before being taken to church, Daddy wants Diego to have the last ceremony at the church as a form of love as a father to Diego," said Massimo quietly interrupting Gina’s words who were so curious about Diego’s condition.
Gina bit her lower lip hard. "So Diego is dead?"
"It was ten minutes ago, the process went fast. Diego certainly won’t feel any pain, because the executioner shot straight into the heart with one precise shot." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Gina immediately lowered her head to hear her husband’s words, even though she knew that Diego would die, but Gina still felt pain when she heard the news that Diego was really dead.
"All this is God’s way, honey. We all know that and I’m sure you also know that Diego will end up like this," said Massimo quietly trying to calm Gina.
Gina lifted her face again, looked at Massimo who was smiling at her.
"Before entering the place of execution, I was told that three days ago Diego met with the priest. With that priest Diego confessed, he confessed all the mistakes he had made in the past and repented. Diego looks so calm. He is even the place to say goodbye to his parents, Diego also apologizes to you. You want to forgive Diego, don’t you?"
Gina nodded quickly. "Sure, I’ve forgiven Diego. I’ve been eating it for a long time."
"Thank God, Diego can sleep peacefully now. He has been released from all his burdens," said Massimo again.
"Aunty Vanessa, how are she?" asked Gina quietly. "She must be very sad to see Diego die in front of her eyes."
Massimo pursed his lips. "Vanessa, who still hasn’t changed, is not only hysterical, she almost goes crazy when she sees Diego drooping without a life. The love that is not matched by concern for her child makes Vanessa blind, she who is too ambitious to get all the Sanders family property makes Diego a chess piece Until finally Diego had to become a victim of her selfishness."
"Don’t talk like that, Massimo. Right now is not the right time, and after all, Aunt Vanessa has also received retribution for all her evil deeds. So it doesn’t feel right for us to still talk about it at this time."
"My kind-hearted wife is really so adorable, I’m lucky to have you, baby."
"Massimo I’m serious!!"
"Haha...ok..ok. I know, I’m sorry. I will not talk about it again," said Massimo quickly with a big smile.
"Promise."
Massimo nodded quickly. "Promise, oh yeah I’ll close now, okay. Diego’s coffin is hard to get out of."
Gina’s face immediately tensed. "Did you say, Diego’s coffin?"
Massimo, who understood Gina so well, immediately smiled. "You want to see it?"
"Yes, I want to see it, Massimo..... please, let me see it one last time."
Massimo then turned the camera mode into a rear camera, Massimo let Gina look at Diego’s coffin which was being carried to the church. Seeing Diego’s coffin, Gina’s heart skipped a beat. She still couldn’t accept that Diego had to end like that. Realizing the change in Gina’s emotions, Massimo then changed his camera mode again and made Gina look at his face again.
"That’s enough, right?"
Gina immediately shook her head. "Massimo..."
"That’s enough, my dear. I don’t think you need to look anymore, after all Diego is already in the coffin you can’t see his face. The process at the church will not take long, after praying we will immediately bury him," said Massimo slow.
Gina wiped the tears that flowed from the corners of her eyes. "Sorry, I got carried away..."
"It’s ok, I understand. After all, you and Diego lived in the same house. I can understand that, I won’t be angry if you want to cry right now because of someone else. But only for now."
Gina nodded, trying to keep her sobs from being heard by Massimo.
Because Diego’s coffin had entered the church, Massimo then disconnected his phone with Gina and rushed into the church.
Right after Massimo entered the church, Vanessa, who had regained consciousness, was immediately taken into the car to be immediately taken to the cemetery.
"Diego... Diego... Diego... if my son dies, then all of you must die too."
