His Naughty Lessons-Chapter 163: A Time Like This?
Chapter 163: A Time Like This?
** Harper **
Harper hadn’t planned for the morning to go this way ... Or at least, she hadn’t planned so with any premeditive intentions. But when Eli crushed his lips onto hers like that, stealing her breath in the most scrumptious way possible, she could only feel proud of her achievement.
He tasted so much better than those pancakes. Fresh and crisp, with only a faint hint of that burnt experiment he insisted on trying earlier. A small moan slipped free from her lips as the kiss deepened, and when he pushed their lower bodies closer together, swiveling his hips to grind into her ...
"Are we ... going to replay that wakeup scene right here?" she breathed the muffled words into his mouth. "I sure hope you have enough underwear left to go through all this." freewebnσvel.cѳm
The reminder elicited a loud groan from him. Harper chuckled, but then she felt him ... get even harder. "Fortunately that is not an issue," he replied, not slowing down his movement below, "because I’m not wearing any."
Oh.
Ohh.
A pulse of warmth shot through her core, and Harper wondered if it was from the grinding or the realization that nothing separated their bodies except the very accessible bathrobes. Because—
"I’m not wearing any either," she revealed before she could think twice about the potential consequence of that revelation. "I was planning to wait until I shower to put on clean ones."
There was a brief pause in the friction between their bodies. Then Eli cursed something under his breath, and he topped up the motion with a hard thrust, enough to make both of them moan from the power of the sensation. "You’d better expect a long, thorough shower then." His hand slipped under the hem of her bathrobe, stroking the top of her thigh. "I fully plan to make it very necessary after we’re done ... with breakfast."
Ah, speaking of the potential consequence of her revelation ...
Harper couldn’t honestly regret it though. Not when his kisses started trailing down along her jaw, the heated pecks making her tilt her head in a satisfied sigh. This was truly the most delicious "breakfast" ... Sweet and steaming hot, even better than what she had in mind, and absolutely nothing like the pretty yet way-too-standard catering they got from the resort for their first meetings every morning ...
But wait, wait a second.
Catering, resort, meetings ...
Meetings! She had completely forgotten that they still had a full day of meetings ahead of them!
"H-Hang on," Harper gasped, her eyes flying open from their half-closed state of enjoyment. She felt Eli freeze at her sudden reaction, pausing with his lips just below her ear. "Um ... W-What time is it now?" she asked. "I forgot to check after I started cooking ..."
Turning aside a bit awkwardly, she peeked over the top of Eli’s head to look at the dash display on the stove ... and then she froze too.
It was eight forty-five! Only fifteen minutes before the first meeting of the day!
As if physically feeling her shock and realizing her thoughts, Eli growled against her neck. "You can’t be serious," he murmured. "Don’t tell me you are thinking about ditching me at a time like this?"
... Shit. He sounded so tense and ... so disappointed. Which she couldn’t blame him for. And it wasn’t like she wanted to stop at "a time like this" either, with his face still buried in her neck and his hand still under her bathrobe and his—
Harper groaned herself, feeling both mortified and torn. "I ... But I ... I can’t be late to this meeting today ... It’s with Future Vision, and I have an opening presentation to make, and ..."
Shhhit.
She didn’t want to be a bad girlfriend, but she didn’t want to be a bad project lead either. Her brain scrambled hard for a way to fix the situation for both of those roles. "Well ... I suppose if you can be ... quick ... like, really quick ..."
Maybe if she rushed, fifteen minutes would still be just enough to finish the business here, shower, change ...
A heavy sigh sounded against her ear. Then the warmth over her skin withdrew. When Eli stepped back and slipped his hand out of her bathrobe, an instinctive whimper of agony escaped Harper’s throat, and she felt every impulse to go back on her words and tell him to just screw the meeting anyway.
"I’m flattered that you’re seriously considering being late to the meeting for a quickie with me." He let out a half chuckle, half sigh, and helped her straighten her collar. "But then you wouldn’t be my Harper if you did that, would you?"
Harper blinked.
She hadn’t expected such a response. This stupid blunder was completely on her — she was the one who teased him first, and she was one who forgot about the time, who had meetings she didn’t want to be late for. She could feel how hard he still was and how much disappointment he was trying not to show, but ...
But there was no judgment or grudge at all in his tone, and he didn’t try to push her or coax her one bit. Because he knew. He knew she wanted to spend the rest of the morning right here on this counter as much as he did ... but he also knew how much her work meant to her, and he was proud of her for it. She could hear that pride, among other things, in the way he said "my Harper".
Her heart skipped a beat. She gave him a small smile, one carrying a few too many meanings that she could only hope he’d understand. "I’m so sorry ... but I’ll make it up to you tonight," she promised. "I’ll make it worth it."
His eyes glinted at the offer. "Oh, you’d better." The corner of his lips lifted into a replying smile as he gave her one last soft peck. "This isn’t over yet. But now, go nail that presentation and make me proud."
