His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 37: This Bell Suits You Better
"Kiana Sutton, weren’t you pretty bold when you were scheming before? How come you’re so timid now?"
Knowing that the person in front of her was Ethan Sinclair, not some random ghost, Kiana Sutton felt a bit relieved in her heart.
Her hand clung tightly to Ethan Sinclair’s clothes, wanting to signal, but the prison was so dark that even if she could see her fingers, Ethan still couldn’t see her hand signs.
"Putting on that innocent act in front of others to fish for sympathy? Sorry, doesn’t work on me."
Ethan Sinclair yanked the fox ear headband off Kiana Sutton’s head, "Judith picked out this headband for you, huh? You seem to like it a lot, can’t bear to take it off after all this time!"
No, that’s not it!
Kiana Sutton felt so wronged. The reason she hadn’t taken off the headband was because Willow put it on her—it had nothing whatsoever to do with Judith.
"You know what? That fox ear looks hideously ugly on you!" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Kiana’s heart twisted painfully. She knew that, in Ethan Sinclair’s eyes, she’d always been hideous—both outside and in.
She reached out to shove Ethan away, but that only made him angrier. He pinned her down onto the grass-covered ground and lowered his head to kiss her fiercely.
Realizing what Ethan Sinclair was trying to do, Kiana’s face drained of color, her pupils blown wide.
Is he insane?
He’s really going to do this here...
Suddenly, Kiana heard a bell chime, then felt something cold around her ankle, like something had just been put on her.
Every time she moved her foot, the bell tinkled.
"If you want to act like an animal, forget the fox ears. This bell suits you better."
His cold, low voice rang at her ear. Kiana struggled, and Ethan suddenly pinched her waist.
As the pain made Kiana gasp, Ethan kissed her without mercy.
The eerie, chilling music and the bell’s ringing tangled together, as if it drove Ethan madder than ever—he was even rougher than usual.
Kiana Sutton felt no pleasure at all. On the contrary, she felt pure pain—
Her body hurt, and her heart hurt even more.
For a man with OCD to use such a filthy place to bully her, just how much did he really hate her?
No!
To be precise, he didn’t even treat her like a person.
He just saw her as a pet—a plaything with no dignity, to be humiliated whenever he pleased.
Kiana couldn’t speak; her body, after the initial resistance, gradually went numb.
Getting no response from her, unable to see her face clearly, Ethan Sinclair grew more irritable and rough.
Still unsatisfied, after leaving the haunted house, he dragged Kiana off to a nearby hotel.
In the luxury suite’s bathroom.
He pressed Kiana to the mirror, gripping her chin from behind so she had no choice but to look herself in the eye.
Her cheeks were flushed, eyes glazed and wet.
Victimized and pitiful, yet somehow irresistible.
"So tell me—if your dear father saw you like this, underneath me, would he still say he’s so innocent?"
At the mention of Gordon Sutton, Kiana bit her lip hard, eyes squeezed shut.
Her gesture of resistance only worsened Ethan’s mood; he viciously bit her neck, "Open your eyes. Burn this image into your memory."
Kiana’s hands pressed against the glass, messily leaving several palm prints as Ethan moved.
The bell jingled endlessly, echoing through the afternoon.
...
By the time Kiana came back to the amusement park, her legs trembled, her whole body felt light and floating.
Quinn Sinclair spotted her, saw she’d changed outfits, and seemed to catch on, walking over with a grin and whispering, "Sis-in-law, where’s my brother? Did you manage to cheer him up?"
Kiana didn’t know if she’d cheered up Ethan Sinclair—anyway, he sure seemed in a good mood when they left.
Right then, Quinn clocked the bell on her ankle, "Wow, that anklet is cute! A bell, too! Where’d you buy it? I want one!"
Humiliation flashed across Kiana’s eyes; Ethan’s warning echoed in her mind: "Don’t take it off. Otherwise next time, I’ll hang it from your neck."
"Kiana..."
Willow was tired after a day of play. Evan Shepherd picked her up, and when Willow spotted Kiana, she reached out her arms.
Willow was practically Kiana’s savior in that moment—Kiana let out a breath, took Willow from Evan, and said goodbye to Quinn and Judith.
Judith said, "Kiana, you look exhausted. Want me to give you a lift home?"
Kiana smiled and shook her head, holding Willow as she left.
Even Quinn, as dense as she was, could see something was off with Kiana.
"Miss, President Sinclair is waiting for you in the car."
Quinn Sinclair and Quincy Wyatt got into the car together, seeing Ethan Sinclair seated in the back working, looking perfectly refreshed.
"Bro, you better fess up—did you just bully Sis-in-law?"
Quincy Wyatt piped up, excited, "I knew it! The one called Kiana is my aunt—she’s like a fairy! Uncle, you can’t bully the fairy auntie."
Ethan Sinclair, in a good mood, couldn’t be bothered with the two brats.
Quinn saw his expression and got annoyed, "Bro, I know you like Kate Lynch, but Sis-in-law is so crazy about you—even if you don’t like her, can you be a little nicer?"
Ethan paused his typing, glanced coldly at Quinn, "Who told you Kiana Sutton likes me? Did she say that to you?"
Quinn realized she’d slipped up in the heat of the moment, coughed, "I guessed, okay? I mean, look at you—you’re handsome, rich, have a great body—what woman wouldn’t like you? Right, Quincy?"
Quincy Wyatt looked Ethan over and nodded, "Yeah, he’s pretty handsome."
Ethan ignored the two suck-ups and went back to his laptop.
"Hey, bro, say, if...if Sis-in-law really is into you, what would you do?"
Ethan pictured Kiana Sutton’s tearful, captivating eyes in his mind.
He snapped his laptop shut with a "bang", feeling annoyed, his eyes turning cold as he thought of something. "Don’t forget how she married into the Sinclair Family. Liking me? Please. Like hell she deserves it."
Quinn Sinclair wasn’t giving up, "Bro, I can’t believe you really feel nothing at all for her. You hate crowds, but you still came with Quincy to the amusement park. Isn’t it because you knew Sis-in-law would be there..."
Before she could finish, Ethan shot her an icy glare. "With that wild imagination, you should quit fashion design and go be a screenwriter."
Quinn: "..."
Quincy Wyatt, having heard their banter, spoke up brightly, "Uncle, if you don’t like Auntie, then hurry and divorce her. When I grow up, I’ll marry Auntie myself!"
As soon as he said that, someone smacked him on the head.
"Ow! Why’d you hit me? I’m just speaking the truth! Auntie is so pretty, so gentle and sweet when she smiles, she even wipes my sweat and buys me ice cream."
Not seeing Ethan Sinclair’s cold, cannibalistic glare, Quincy hung his head but kept at it seriously, "What’s your problem? Fine—if I marry Auntie in the future, we’ll both honor you together!"
