Chapter 182: Chapter 182: Overwhelmed with Jealousy

Rosalind Joyce and Aura Sinclair started complaining to Zoe Xavier, taking turns, while Kiana Sutton clenched her fists, watching them twist the truth, feeling both angry and uneasy.

She had never been afraid of others slandering her, but she was terrified that someone she cared about would misunderstand her.

What if Zoe Xavier actually believed them, and thought she was really a scheming person who would do anything just to become vice-chair of the foundation?

"If you two hadn’t brought it up, I would’ve totally forgotten about that! Rosalind Joyce, I’ve never deigned to fight with you over anything, but you abused the cat and tried to frame Kiana while I wasn’t home—don’t think I’m letting that slide!"

Zoe Xavier had always been cool and quiet, and rarely interfered with Sinclair Family matters.

But that didn’t mean she was a pushover.

Rosalind and Aura’s faces went green in an instant.

Rosalind never expected Zoe Xavier to actually stand up for Kiana Sutton. What the hell did that fucking woman Kiana do to get Zoe Xavier on her side?

"I framed her? Obviously she set me up! Zoe Xavier, since you trust Kiana Sutton so much, you’ll regret it one day, for sure."

"None of your fucking business."

Kiana Sutton: "..."

It was the first time Kiana had ever heard Zoe Xavier curse like that. She was so moved, her nose tingled and her eyes burned.

Rosalind really hadn’t expected Zoe Xavier to give her not even a shred of face. Seeing Zoe Xavier and Kiana wearing matching mother-daughter outfits, she immediately shouted at the shop assistant, "I want the exact same outfits they’re wearing!"

The reason this store was so popular among the rich, on top of having all the clothes personally designed by renowned local designer Vivian and made of pure Norfield cotton, was one more thing.

And that was—every item, aside from the display, only had one piece for sale per location, and once it was gone, you’d have to wait until the store’s annual anniversary to maybe get it again.

The shop assistant looked awkwardly at Zoe Xavier. "Ma’am, would you still like to keep this dress?"

Rosalind immediately glared angrily at the shop assistant and yelled, "I said I want them! Why are you asking her? Do you not want your job? Bring your manager over right now!"

In that moment, Rosalind Joyce was every inch a nouveau riche snob, arrogant and overbearing.

The manager rushed out and started bowing and apologizing to Rosalind.

"Alright, enough, I’m not here to listen to your apologies. I want the dresses they’re wearing. Hurry up and package them for me."

Rosalind was an old customer, so the manager naturally wanted to keep her happy, and turned to Kiana and Zoe, "Ladies, we do have some other styles in the store, would you like to try some of our new arrivals instead?"

Zoe Xavier might look cold, but she was actually the type with a cold face and a warm heart—if it weren’t for pushy Rosalind, she might’ve just let it go.

But now? Not a chance.

"We saw these first. We want these ones."

Rosalind sneered, "I’m a member here, and members get first pick."

The manager nodded in agreement, "That’s right."

Zoe gave a cold snort. "Oh, is that so?"

Then she pulled out her phone and made a call.

"Hello? Buy the whole BURBERRY brand for me within half an hour, no matter the cost. Find a trustworthy lawyer and put it under Kiana Sutton’s name."

The whole shop was stunned by what she said.

Hanging up, Zoe Xavier glared icily at Rosalind, who looked absolutely furious. "From now on, this brand belongs to Kiana, and you and your daughter are never to wear anything from this store ever again."

"You! Zoe Xavier, just because you have money, you think you’re the shit?"

"Isn’t that the principle you know best? If you have what it takes, you can buy the whole brand too."

Rosalind’s face was practically green. There was no way she could ever afford to buy a whole brand.

Thinking for a moment, Rosalind’s tone softened, "Zoe, we’re family after all... and you’d do this to me, just for an outsider..."

Zoe Xavier curled her lips into a faint smile. "Wrong. Kiana and I are family."

Then she glanced at the manager. "Well? Going to show the lady out?"

Whenever Rosalind showed up, it was always a nightmare for the manager and staff. Now, finally, they could straighten their backs. The assistant called out, "Ms. Joyce, this way please."

Rosalind had never been so humiliated. She shouted at Zoe Xavier, her face black with rage, "Zoe, I’m a member here!"

"We’ll refund you, however much you paid. But with customers like you, the brand just gets polluted."

Grumbling and complaining, Rosalind and Aura were kicked out of the store, swearing they’d never return again.

Zoe Xavier sniffed, then turned to see Kiana looking at her, eyes brimming with tears, a look of excitement, gratitude, and total confusion on her face.

Zoe honestly had no idea what she meant to Kiana.

Worried that what she’d just done might have scared Kiana Sutton, she stepped over and patted her on the back. "From this day, every store under this brand is yours. Whatever you want to wear, just have it sent home."

Kiana was wildly emotional and conflicted—she hadn’t expected Zoe Xavier to stand up for her, shutting down Rosalind and her daughter...

And she’d even given her such a lavish gift.

Every single one of this brand’s items cost over ten thousand at least. The whole brand must be worth tens of millions.

"Mom, do you believe that I didn’t frame Rosalind Joyce?"

"Of course!"

Hearing Zoe say those two words without a hint of hesitation, Kiana just couldn’t hold her tears back anymore—they fell straight down.

She’d been wronged so, so much these past days.

At times when she couldn’t defend herself, even just a look or a word of trust from someone else was enough to move her to tears.

"Oh, you silly kid! Why are you crying again?"

Zoe wasn’t great at comforting people, so seeing Kiana crying left her a bit at a loss.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Why do you trust me?"

Kiana nodded obediently.

Zoe smiled. "I know what kind of person Rosalind Joyce is—much better than you do. And even though I haven’t known you that long, I think you’re a good kid. Besides, my old lady might be old, but she’s not senile at all."

Zoe had once held a grudge against Kiana for marrying Ethan Sinclair with underhanded means.

But the more she got to know her, the more she realized Kiana was a genuinely good kid. As for the incident about drugging Ethan years ago, that was probably Kiana’s mother’s doing, and Kiana was likely a victim too.

"Alright, stop crying, or you’ll ruin your makeup." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Zoe reached out to wipe Kiana’s tears...

And just then, Ethan Sinclair arrived and saw everything.

From where Ethan was standing, he could only see Kiana and a hand wiping away her tears—he couldn’t see that it was actually Zoe Xavier.

If you looked closely, you could probably tell it was a woman’s hand, not a man’s.

But Ethan was steaming with jealousy; seeing Kiana secretly meeting someone behind his back and looking so beautiful to boot, his jealousy erupted—he charged in like a rampaging dragon.
