His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 148: I Can’t Spoil Her Like This Anymore
Ethan Sinclair instinctively wanted to pull his hand away, but Kiana Sutton’s face changed drastically, and she held on even tighter.
At that moment, she looked like someone who had fallen into the ocean and grabbed onto the only lifeline, refusing to let go for anything.
In the past, Ethan would have undoubtedly shaken off Kiana without hesitation.
However, at this moment, he hesitated.
Especially when he saw Kiana’s face as pale as paper and her body trembling even in slumber, he couldn’t bring himself to push her away again.
Having been busy all day and having drunk, Ethan was quite exhausted.
He was used to showering at night, but Kiana wouldn’t let go. He didn’t want to argue with this mute in the middle of the night, so he gently coaxed, "Let go of me first, I’ll take a shower and come back to accompany you."
Kiana didn’t react at all, and just as Ethan thought she was deeply asleep and was about to pull his hand back, she seemed startled, clinging tighter and even tugging him with her other hand.
Unprepared, Ethan fell directly onto the bed.
He was truly too tired to move anymore.
Turning his head to see Kiana burrowing into his arms, Ethan embraced her, thinking to himself, he wouldn’t spoil her like this again.
Ethan thought that not showering and holding Kiana would definitely lead to insomnia tonight.
Unexpectedly, he slept quite comfortably. His biological clock was always precise, and when he woke again, apart from his arm being somewhat sore from Kiana’s weight, he felt completely refreshed.
Moreover, after that, Kiana didn’t cause any fuss, sleeping peacefully.
Ethan glanced at the red bracelet on his wrist, thinking, is the bracelet from Mount Providence really this magical?
Seeing no signs of Kiana waking up, Ethan quietly got out of bed and left the hotel.
Connor Grant had thought that Ethan and the Young Madam at the hotel meant there would be a fuss until late at night, allowing him to sleep in.
Unexpectedly, he received a call from Ethan at six o’clock.
After the car picked up Ethan, Connor couldn’t help but yawn, "Master, where are we going so early?"
"Mount Providence."
"Huh?"
Getting up this early just to climb a mountain?
Is the Master’s energy really that great?
"Drive!"
"Yes."
At eight in the morning, Kiana awoke sluggishly, possibly having slept too long, making her body feel soft.
Seeing that she was alone in the room, she picked up her phone and sent a WeChat message to Joy Morgan, "Joy, are you at work already? Why didn’t you wake me up?"
Joy was evidently busy with something and hadn’t replied to Kiana yet.
Kiana had never thought about avoiding anything, but she was too tired and unwell yesterday. She didn’t want to go home for fear of starting another argument with Ethan, so she stayed at the hotel.
Now it was time to go back, and besides, she needed to investigate the matters concerning the rescue station.
Kiana tidied up and was about to leave when her phone suddenly received a text message.
"I have what you want the most right now. I’ll be waiting for you at the tea restaurant next to The Homecoming Hotel."
Kiana was staying at The Homecoming Hotel, and whoever messaged her clearly knew she was there overnight and deliberately came to meet her.
What she wanted the most right now?
Could it be proof of her innocence?
Kiana frowned and immediately replied, "Who are you?"
"You only need to know that I am someone who wants to help you."
Kiana thought for a moment and decided to meet the person.
But she never expected the person waiting for her would be Quentin Sinclair.
When Quentin saw Kiana, he showed his white teeth in a smile and waved her over, "Sister-in-law, over here."
Kiana had no idea what Quentin was up to, but since she was already there, she walked over to him.
Quentin made an inviting gesture, "Sit down, you probably haven’t had breakfast yet, right? The shrimp dumplings and barbecued pork buns here are good, I ordered a set for you, try it."
Faced with the exquisite breakfast in front of her, Kiana didn’t move.
Quentin suddenly laughed, "What? Afraid I poisoned your breakfast? Don’t worry, there are so many people here, I wouldn’t do anything to you."
Kiana was not in the mood to share breakfast with Quentin, so she asked the waiter for paper and a pen, wrote a note, and handed it to Quentin, "What do you mean by wanting to help me?"
Quentin didn’t answer Kiana’s question, instead, he looked regretfully at the shrimp dumplings and barbecued pork buns in front of her and said, "You’re really not eating?"
Kiana frowned at him.
"Okay, if you’re not eating, I’ll help you finish them; wasting food is shameful."
Quentin took the buns from in front of Kiana, then handed her a phone, "Take a look."
As Kiana took the phone and watched, Quentin enjoyed her expression while eating the shrimp dumplings.
The phone displayed a video showing Rosalind Joyce watching a staff member cruelly beating a kitten with a stick. The cat’s wailing was relentless, and when the beating seemed done, she handed over a sum of money to the staff.
"Once things are handled, I will give you another twenty thousand. If any mistake happens or the results don’t meet my expectations..."
Before Rosalind could finish her threat, the staff member immediately nodded and bowed, "Vice-chairman, rest assured, I will not disappoint you."
Soon after, the staff member took the cat away, and after casting a nervous glance around, Rosalind left quickly.
Kiana immediately recognized the staff member as the first person to accuse her of animal cruelty.
No wonder!
The cat wailed for so long, and yet she didn’t show up early or late, only coming out when Kiana held the stick to rescue the cat, pinning the crime of animal cruelty on her.
So it was Rosalind!
She looked up at Quentin with a puzzled expression.
Before she could write anything, Quentin wiped his mouth and laughed, "Are you trying to ask why?"
Quentin was Marcus Sinclair’s son, and Rosalind was Marcus’ wife, so they were at least considered family by relationship. Why would Quentin help her against Rosalind?
"Heh... You can think of it like this, the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Enemy?
What happened between Quentin and Rosalind to make Quentin loathe her so much?
"Let me tell you this, I don’t particularly like you, but I detest Rosalind more. Rosalind wants to ruin your reputation and remove you from the vice-chairman position of the foundation. If you manage to have her take a serious fall, my help wouldn’t have been in vain."
Kiana looked at Quentin, unable to think of any other reason except Quentin wanting to use her to fight against Rosalind.
The longer the press conference was delayed, the louder the external doubts about the foundation became; this matter could not be delayed.
Not wasting any more time, Kiana took the video Quentin provided and headed straight to the Sinclair Estate.
