His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 130: Uncontrollably Drawn to Her
Ever since he was a kid, Ethan Sinclair never really had many girls around him.
He’d also never tried coaxing anyone before.
The Evercrest Group’s CEO, who could land billion-dollar deals without even batting an eye, now looked a little lost.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Kate Lynch felt a pang of anxiety when Ethan Sinclair still hadn’t replied to her message. She quickly sent him another one.
"Alright, I know you’re busy, so I’ll let it slide for now. But when I finish shooting and come back, you have to treat me to a nice meal."
Kate Lynch had already found herself a way out, so Ethan Sinclair naturally let out a sigh of relief. "Sure."
But looking at that single, simple reply—"Sure"—Kate Lynch felt a wave of disappointment.
She had witnessed Ethan Sinclair burst into Zoe Xavier’s room and take Kiana Sutton away. She’d never seen Ethan that concerned and anxious about anyone before.
If he really fell in love with Kiana Sutton again, there’d be nothing she could do, no matter how hard she tried.
She’d thought that working with Zoe Xavier on the same show would help her get closer to Zoe, but Zoe was just completely unapproachable.
That path was a dead end, so she’d have to figure out another.
Luckily, her role in this film wasn’t big, so she’d be done soon and could go home.
On the other side, Ethan Sinclair had just put away his phone when he suddenly felt a weight on his shoulder.
He turned his head and saw Kiana Sutton’s head drooping onto his arm.
He felt incredibly agitated and instinctively reached out to push her head away. Suddenly, as if something crossed his mind, his dark eyes flicked to his gloved hand.
As if to confirm something, he slowly took off the glove.
The spot on the back of his hand that Kate Lynch had touched was still red and hadn’t faded yet.
After glancing at it, he reached out and gently held Kiana Sutton’s small hand.
Allergic!
Red!
Itchy!
Ethan Sinclair didn’t want Kiana Sutton to be "special" to him—he hoped his hand would react.
But after waiting for a while, there was no reaction on the back of his hand at all.
Unwilling to give up, he touched her cheek. Still nothing—allergy free.
What the hell?
Why would he get an allergic reaction from Kate but not from Kiana Sutton?
Kiana Sutton shifted uncomfortably, her head sliding off Ethan Sinclair’s arm.
As she was about to fall over, Ethan quickly caught her head. He’d intended to let her lean back against the seat, but by the time he realized it, her head was already resting on his shoulder.
Ethan Sinclair: "..."
He pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling even more irritated.
Over the next few days, Ethan Sinclair went right back to ignoring Kiana Sutton.
Kiana’s life returned to being unnoticed by anyone, but at least on payday, not a dime was missing from her salary.
Just then, Miles Goodman reached out to Kiana Sutton.
"Hey, Kiana, you promised you’d treat me to dinner. Are you trying to back out?"
Miles Goodman had helped Kiana out a lot before, and Kiana had promised to treat him to a meal. But because of time and money, she’d never gotten around to it.
"Of course not. What do you want to eat?"
Miles hadn’t expected Kiana to agree so readily. He quickly explained, "Uh... I’m not just forcing you to do it! It’s just been a while since we’ve seen each other. I want to catch up."
"I know. I just got paid today, so I can take you out for dinner."
"Awesome! How about teppanyaki on Mount Rofus? There’s a fireworks show tonight—we can watch the fireworks."
Kiana thought about how Ethan Sinclair hadn’t come home in several days and probably wouldn’t be back tonight, so she agreed.
After getting off work, Kiana Sutton left the company right on time.
By the time Ethan walked out of his office, Kiana Sutton’s desk was already empty.
Ethan Sinclair frowned. "Where’s Secretary Sutton?"
"She already left for the day."
Ethan snorted, "Even as the CEO I’m still working, but she’s sure quick to clock out."
After finishing his work, Ethan headed straight back to The Montpellier Estates.
Not seeing Kiana at home made his face darken. "Where’s Kiana Sutton?"
Chelsea Chapman looked like she’d seen a ghost.
Whenever Young Madam came home on time, Young Master hadn’t come back for days.
Now Young Madam was out with a friend, Young Master finally showed up.
What kind of fate is this!
"Which friend?"
"She didn’t say, but it must be someone she’s really close to. Otherwise, Young Madam wouldn’t go out at night."
Only then did Ethan Sinclair realize—he really didn’t know Kiana Sutton that well.
He wasn’t even sure who her closest friends were.
At the same time, Miles Goodman had finally met up with Kiana.
He wore a custom-tailored suit that day, his hair carefully styled—looking sharp and handsome. Several girls had come up to ask for his number, and he’d turned them all down.
"Hey, Kiana..."
He stood up excitedly and waved at Kiana, but the moment he saw Quinn Sinclair, his smile froze.
"Oh my god, Quinn! It’s been forever—did you miss me?"
Quinn ran over to Miles before Kiana could, giving his arm a little punch. "What, it’s been forever! Aren’t you happy to see me?"
Miles looked defeated. "Kiana’s treating me to dinner—why are you crashing our plans?"
Quinn just shrugged. "My sister-in-law invited me too!"
Miles cast a pitiful glance at Kiana. He’d thought tonight was going to be their date. He’d dressed up just for her, but now it was a party of three.
Kiana was confused. Weren’t Miles and Quinn good friends? Why did Miles look so unhappy?
She wanted to treat both Miles and Quinn to dinner, so she just invited them together.
Besides, if it was just her and Miles, she’d have to use sign language, and it would be awkward for Miles to carry the conversation alone.
With Quinn there, things would be livelier.
At this point, Miles, even though feeling pretty bummed, didn’t want Kiana to feel awkward either. He stuffed down his disappointment and smiled at her. "Well, since we’re all here, let’s order!"
"Yay! I want the beef tenderloin, foie gras, mashed potatoes, and squid..."
Quinn started rattling off a long list of dishes. Miles ignored her, scooted closer to Kiana, and handed her the menu. "Kiana, what do you want?"
Quinn shot Miles a deadly glare and bared her teeth in warning.
Kiana smiled, "I’ll have the same as Quinn."
Quinn snorted in triumph, "See, sis-in-law, we really are family—even our taste in food is the same."
It was an obvious warning to Miles that Kiana was a Sinclair now, so he shouldn’t be getting any ideas.
Miles pretended not to hear, smiling at Kiana. "Then I’ll have what you’re having too."
So, the same dishes were served in three portions.
While eating, Kiana couldn’t sign, but the atmosphere at the table wasn’t awkward at all.
Because Miles and Quinn were secretly sparring with each other—constantly trading playful insults—Kiana could tell they were actually quite close.
Soon after dinner, the fireworks show began.
"Sis-in-law, let’s go watch the fireworks!"
Quinn grabbed Kiana and headed to the balcony; Miles followed right after.
"Wow, it’s gorgeous! I have to take pictures."
But just as Quinn snapped a couple of shots, her stomach started hurting. "Sis-in-law, you and Miles watch first—I need to run to the bathroom."
Kiana noticed Quinn didn’t look well and quickly signed, "Want me to come with you?"
"No, no, you don’t need to suffer through the bathroom smell with me! The fireworks will be over soon. Hey, can you record a video for me?"
Quinn handed her phone to Kiana, who nodded and took it.
As soon as Quinn left, Miles seized the moment, sidling up next to Kiana. Bathed in the light of the fireworks, Kiana looked so stunning it was almost unreal.
Miles’ heart raced—he couldn’t help but lean closer and closer to her...
