Chapter 498: Chapter 498 Fearless

"Her name is Freya."

Bella’s breath caught sharply in her throat. Her eyes widened as disbelief washed over her while she stared at Theo.

"Freya..." she repeated slowly, the name feeling heavy on her tongue. "Are you talking about the girl who works with Alexa?"

Theo looked momentarily surprised that she knew, then nodded. "Yeah," he said, his voice low and serious. "That Freya."

Bella’s heart sank like a stone. The image of the quiet, nervous girl surfaced in her mind, the one who always seemed to be holding her breath, moving as if the floor might crack beneath her feet. A cold knot formed in her stomach.

"You need to get her out of that job," Bella said quickly, urgency sharpening her words. "As soon as possible. Theo, she isn’t... she isn’t safe there. Alexa is dangerous."

Theo’s expression grew solemn, matching her seriousness. "That’s exactly what I’m trying to do," he said, his jaw tightening. "I don’t want her there either. Not with Alexa. Not for another day."

Bella let out a small, shaky breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. "Good," she murmured, relief softening her voice. "Please be careful. Alexa is... very dangerous."

Theo’s nod was firm, his eyes hard with resolve. "I know," he replied. "And I won’t let her anywhere near my sister’s life. Not anymore."

Just then, Theo’s phone buzzed loudly on the table between them. A flicker of annoyance, a tiny, almost invisible pout, tugged at his lips before he smoothed it away, the easy, careless smile slipping back into place as if it had never left.

"Guess I have to go," he said, standing up with a reluctant sigh.

"Already?" Bella asked, unable to keep the disappointment from coloring her tone.

He gave a soft, apologetic laugh. "Duty calls. But I’ll see you soon. I promise."

Bella rose to her feet as well, and before she could say another word, Theo leaned in and wrapped her in a quick, warm hug. It was familiar and comforting, a brief return to the simpler days between them. She smiled against his shoulder, feeling the steady beat of his heart before he gently pulled away.

"I’ll see you soon," he repeated, tapping her forehead lightly with his fingertip.

She nodded, still smiling, and walked him to the door. Bella stood there until he disappeared from view.

Meanwhile, Theo’s mood soured the moment he stepped outside. His father was waiting near the gate, leaning casually against an expensive black car that looked far too serious for Theo’s taste. The sight alone made his shoulders tense.

"You’re really fearless," his father said the moment he saw him, studying Theo with sharp, unreadable eyes. "Working so closely with the mafia now?"

Theo scoffed, irritation flashing across his face. "No. I don’t do anything illegal," he replied flatly. "I just taught Leonardo’s wife how to play the guitar back then. We’re best friends now."

His father raised a brow slightly, clearly unconvinced. "Hmm," he murmured, pulling out his phone and glancing at the screen as if already half distracted, half calculating something else entirely.

Theo clenched his jaw and looked away for a moment.

"All right, let’s go," his father said, straightening as he slipped his phone back into his pocket. A rare spark of anticipation lit his usually controlled expression. "I can’t wait to meet her."

Theo paused for half a second, studying him. It still felt strange to see his father like this, openly excited, almost restless. Stephen Rossi had always been calm, distant, and difficult to read. Yet now there was something almost boyish in his tone, as if years of waiting had finally caught up to him. After so long, after all the silence and unfinished Chapters, he was finally going to meet his wife again.

"Okay, okay," Theo replied with a small sigh, opening the car door and sliding inside. He leaned back into the seat, watching his father from the corner of his eye as the engine started.

"Your aunt is coming back as well," Stephen said as he drove, his hands steady on the steering wheel, though his voice carried a warmth Theo rarely heard. "She never wanted to return to this city."

Theo turned slightly, listening.

"I thought she hated City A," Theo said quietly.

"She did," Stephen replied, a faint smile touching his lips. "She studied here once, at City A University. Those years were supposed to be the best of her life, but something went wrong. Something that hurt her deeply." His gaze stayed on the road, but his eyes softened, filled with old memories. "After that, she left the city and swore she would never come back."

He had never known what had happened to her. No matter how much he asked, she never told him. He had tried to investigate back then, but at that time, he lacked the ability and influence, just a young, unknown artist. Even now, after trying again, he still found nothing suspicious.

He paused for a moment, then continued, his voice lighter. "But when she heard about her, and about Freya, everything changed. It was as if something inside her finally loosened. She wants to see them with her own eyes."

Theo absorbed his words in silence. He could hear it now, the quiet happiness in his father’s voice, the kind that came from hope rather than certainty.

"She sounded excited on the phone," Stephen added, almost to himself. "I haven’t heard her sound like that in years."

Theo nodded slowly.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Leo’s annoyance was clear as he looked from Dominique to Jason, his gaze sharp and heavy with pressure.

"You’re both sure?" he asked again, not raising his voice, but making it clear that he expected nothing less than certainty.

Jason nodded immediately, a little too eagerly, as if afraid Leo might doubt him. "Yeah. We’re sure," he said firmly. "We did a deep investigation. No loose ends. No assumptions. Pablo had a son. He hid him very carefully."

Dominique exhaled softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "We couldn’t find who he is yet," he admitted, frustration slipping into his tone. "Whoever hid him did a damn good job. But..." He paused and looked at Leo seriously. "I think Bella will be able to find out. She notices things we don’t. You should tell her."

Leo listened without interrupting, his face unreadable. After a long moment, he gave a slow nod, the decision already forming in his mind. "I will let her know," he said quietly, his tone final. Then he straightened. "You both can leave."

Dominique and Jason exchanged a quick glance before turning and walking out, the door closing softly behind them. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Leo remained where he was, staring at the space they had just vacated.

He was thankful he had people like them. Both were highly professional when it came to hacking. He hadn’t even hired them. They had come to him on their own, saying they wanted to work with him.

Not that he minded.

Bella’s friends were extremely talented when it came to hacking.
