His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker.-Chapter 440 Nicky Mini
Inside the living room, people were already waiting.
Scarlett stood near the sofa, her eyes softening the moment she saw Bella. Jason was beside her, hands tucked into his pockets, concern written openly on his face. Dominique leaned against the armrest, posture casual but eyes alert, quietly assessing Bella’s condition.
And further inside—
Leo’s mother and father sat together.
Nonna sat on the couch, a rosary loosely held in her hand, her worried eyes widening the instant she saw Bella clinging to Leo like a frightened child.
Jay had already told everyone about Bella’s condition, so no one acted rashly around her.
Bella shrank back even more, her grip tightening around Leo’s arm. She buried her face briefly against his back, then peeked out again, eyes big and uncertain.
"Hubby..." she whispered softly, tugging his shirt. "Why so many people?"
Leo adjusted his hold on her immediately, one arm wrapping securely around her back. "It’s okay," he murmured close to her ear. "They’re family. And friends. No one will hurt you."
Scarlett was the first to move.
She took a careful step forward, approaching Bella with a friendly smile. Her voice, usually confident and teasing, came out gentle.
"Hey, Bells..." she said softly. "It’s me."
Bella stared at her for a long moment, head tilted, studying her face like a child trying to recognize someone from a dream. Then her brows knitted slightly.
"...Scar?" she asked hesitantly.
Scarlett’s breath caught. She smiled and nodded quickly. "Yeah. That’s me."
Bella’s eyes lit up just a little. She leaned forward and whispered loudly to Leo, "She’s pretty."
Scarlett laughed softly, emotion tightening her throat.
Jason cleared his throat and waved awkwardly. "Hey, kiddo."
Bella looked at him, then waved back shyly with just two fingers.
Dominique didn’t speak. He simply nodded once. He was afraid to approach Bella, worried he might say something wrong.
Leo’s mother took a trembling step forward, emotion flooding her face. "Bella, dear—"
Bella immediately hid behind Leo when she saw a stranger.
"Mom," Leo said quietly. "She’s scared."
His mother stopped at once, pressing a hand to her mouth, tears welling up. She nodded, understanding without another word.
Nonna simply smiled warmly, the kind of smile only grandmothers carried.
"Piccola," Nonna said softly. "No fear. You are home."
Bella stared at her.
Then she whispered to Leo very seriously, "She looks like fairy grandma."
Nonna chuckled, eyes shining, clearly pleased to be recognized by little Bella.
The tension in the room eased just a little.
Leo kissed the top of Bella’s head gently, a faint but real smile touching his lips. "See?" he murmured. "This is your home."
Bella relaxed a bit more in his arms, still holding on, but no longer trembling.
"Leo, we need to have a private talk," Alessandro said quietly, his gaze lingering on Bella for a second longer than necessary, concern and restraint mixing in his eyes.
Leo followed his father’s look, then nodded once. "Alright."
He lowered his head toward Bella, softening his voice instantly. "Little Bella," he said gently, brushing a thumb over her knuckles. "Stay with Jay and play with him, alright? He’ll introduce you to Big Bella’s friends."
Bella’s eyes lit up immediately. "Play?" she asked hopefully.
"Yes," Leo smiled faintly. "Play."
She nodded eagerly, then glanced at Jay as if to confirm.
Jay grinned wide. "I’m very good at playing," he said seriously. "Professional big brother."
Bella giggled and finally let go of Leo’s shirt, reaching out to grab Jay’s hand instead. "Okay," she agreed happily. "But you don’t run away."
"I won’t," Jay promised. "Scout’s honor."
Leo watched her for a moment longer, making sure she was settled, before straightening. Then he turned and walked upstairs with Alessandro.
The study room on the first floor was quiet, heavy with dark wood shelves and old books. Alessandro closed the door behind them gently.
"She’s regressed," Alessandro said without preamble.
"Yes," Leo replied, his jaw tight.
Alessandro exhaled slowly, rubbing his temple. "Jay told us. She’s five."
Leo nodded once. "That’s what the doctor said."
A long silence followed.
Meanwhile, downstairs—
Bella sat cross-legged on the rug with Scarlett, Jason, and Dominique gathered around her. Nonna and Lina sat nearby on the couch, watching her closely.
"Okay," Jay announced, "first rule. Little Bella is boss."
Bella’s mouth dropped open. "Really?"
"Yes," Scarlett said with a wink. "You’re the boss today."
Bella nodded solemnly. "Good," she declared. "Boss says... pink hair brother sits here."
Jay obediently shuffled closer. "Yes, boss."
Bella beamed and clapped her hands.
Jason stepped forward dramatically, placing a hand on his chest like he was introducing himself on a stage. "I am Jason," he announced proudly. Then he leaned closer and lowered his voice as if sharing a secret. "But if you like me... you can call me... SON."
The room went silent.
Scarlett blinked.
Jay froze.
Dominique slowly turned his head toward Jason with a look that clearly said what the hell are you doing.
Bella stared at Jason for two whole seconds.
Then—
"Hahah!!"
She burst out laughing, clapping her hands. "Wow! Your nickname is Son!" she said happily, nodding hard as if this made perfect sense. "That’s funny!"
Jason puffed out his chest immediately and shot a victorious look at Dominic.
One point.
Dominic narrowed his eyes.
He moved toward Bella calmly, adjusting his sleeves like he had all the time in the world. He sat on her other side and smiled gently, voice smooth but playful.
"I am Dominic," he said. "But you can call me... Dom."
Bella tilted her head.
"Or Mini," Dominic continued seriously.
Bella blinked.
"Or," he added thoughtfully, "Nicky."
Bella’s brain visibly tried to process the options. Her brows scrunched, lips pursed, eyes darting between his face and Jay’s pink hair like she was doing very important calculations.
"...You have too many names," she decided seriously.
Dominic nodded solemnly. "That’s fair."
Then she leaned closer and whispered loudly, "I will call you Nicky Mini."
Scarlett lost it.
Jay laughed so hard he nearly fell backward. Even Jason stared in shock.
"Nicky... Mini?" Dominic repeated slowly.
Bella nodded, very satisfied. "Yes. You’re small name, but big person."
Dominic pressed a hand to his chest, deeply moved. "I accept this honor."
Jason protested immediately. "Hey! What about me?"
Bella turned and pointed dramatically. "You are Son Jason."
Jason grinned like he had just won the lottery.
Jay watched the scene with warmth flooding his chest. Scarlett wiped at her eyes while laughing, and even Dominique—now officially Nicky Mini—was smiling like a fool, happy simply because he had made a little bella laugh.
