His After The Heartbreak (BL)-Chapter 145: Rest In Peace
Chapter 145 - Rest In Peace
Chapter 145- Rest In Peace
Beatrice POV
I froze. I couldn't breathe. My whole body went still.
This man was serious.
And the worst part? He hadn't even heard the real reason why Tyler left. If he ever found out I lost the money to my ex-bodyguard... that I fell in love and got scammed like a fool...
He'd kill me for real.
I swallowed hard, my throat dry as sand.
"I'm sorry," I said quickly. "Declan, please. Don't get angry. If you kill me now, there'll be no one left to look for Tyler. We both need to find him. Please."
He paused.
Then, he threw his head back—and laughed. A loud, evil laugh that chilled my bones.
He was smirking again. Like he had all the power in the world.
He leaned in close again, his lips nearly touching my ear.
"You really think I care if you die?"
His voice was low but heavy.
"You're so useless, I don't even think Tyler would notice you're gone."
I froze again.
"In fact," he said slowly, "you just gave me an idea."
My stomach dropped.
"I could kill you right now. This very minute. Dump your body somewhere no one will find. Then go look for Tyler on my own."
I couldn't move. Couldn't breathe.
"When I find him, I'll just tell him you killed yourself. That you couldn't handle the guilt of losing him."
He chuckled again.
"He'll cry for two days, maybe three. Then he'll move on with his life. Because that's how little you mean to him."
I felt tears build behind my eyes, but I didn't let them fall. Not in front of this monster.
Declan took one step back, then looked me dead in the eye.
"So don't ever try to threaten me again," he said. "You're nothing. And if I choose to take your life tonight, there's no one—no one—who's going to stop me."
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself.
This is the part I hated most about Declan. The part that made my skin crawl.
I cleared my throat, trying to keep my voice from shaking.
"If I die here, Declan..." I said slowly, "I swear to God I'll make sure Tyler knows you were the one who killed me. And when he finds out... he'll never forgive you."
For a second, I saw a flash in his eyes. But then he burst into laughter.
The sound chilled me. It wasn't normal laughter—it was dark. Cruel.
He stepped closer and bent his head toward me. His breath hit my face.
"How exactly are you going to tell Tyler," he said, voice cold and mocking, "when you'll be six feet under the ground?"
My heart dropped.
My fingers trembled by my side.
I tried to keep a brave face, but inside, I was screaming.
Fuck Declan.
That bastard. I hate him with everything in me.
It wasn't even my fault that Tyler ran away. So why the hell was he acting like I ruined everything?
Why was he always so quick to forget the things he did?
Suddenly, Declan reached out and grabbed my wrist—hard.
I gasped.
The pain shot through me like fire. His grip was so tight, I thought my bones would snap.
"Ah—Declan, you're hurting me," I managed to whisper.
But he didn't care. His grip only tightened.
"Hurting you?" he repeated, eyes wide with fake surprise. "This is nothing compared to the kind of hurt you caused."
His voice dropped lower. Meaner.
"You had one job, Beatrice. One fucking job. To watch over our son. But no—you were too busy acting like a desperate little fool. And now, he's missing."
He yanked my arm, and I cried out.
"You couldn't even keep an eye on your only child. How useless can one person be?"
I felt his words like knives. Every insult he threw cut deeper.
"You're pathetic," he spat. "Tyler trusted you. I trusted you. But you just had to go and ruin everything. You're nothing but a miserable excuse for a mother."
"It wasn't my fault!" I snapped, tears finally spilling from my eyes. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen!"
That only made it worse.
Declan's eyes darkened with rage. He turned and punched the wall beside me.
The sound of it cracking rang out loud, and I flinched. A piece of the plaster broke and fell to the floor.
I froze. My whole body was trembling now.
"What do you mean it wasn't your fault?" he growled. "Wasn't it because of you that he left in the first place?"
He stepped closer again, eyes burning into me.
"Wasn't it the misunderstanding—the one you caused—that made him leave? So what the fuck are you talking about?"
I didn't reply.
There was no point. I knew better than to argue with Declan when he was like this. He didn't want the truth. He wanted someone to blame.
Suddenly, he lunged forward and wrapped his hands around my throat.
I gasped—air caught in my throat as my feet barely touched the ground.
"Declan—" I tried to speak, but no sound came out.
His grip tightened, and my lungs started to scream for air.
"You know what?" he whispered, face inches from mine. "Maybe it's better if you just die. That way, there won't be anyone left to have stupid misunderstandings with Tyler. Maybe then he'll finally stay."
My vision blurred.
I felt my body growing weaker. My limbs limp.
The room started spinning. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't move. It felt like my spirit was slowly slipping out of me.
But with the little strength I had left, I forced out a broken whisper.
"I'll tell you... what caused the misunderstanding..."
He paused.
His grip loosened slightly—but not enough.
"I don't want to know anymore," he said coldly. "I'll just kill you now. When I find Tyler, I'll ask him."
My tears flowed freely now. My face was burning. My throat was on fire.
Is this how I'm going to die?
I could feel my body giving up.
With the last strength I had, I forced my voice out again.
"I thought... you came for forgiveness..."
He didn't respond.
I coughed. My voice barely came out. "Is this how... you want me to forgive you?"
I didn't know where the words were coming from. Maybe from fear. Maybe from desperation. Maybe from the tiny hope that somewhere inside, Declan still had a heart.
"What will you tell the person that sent you to apologize?" I whispered. "That I... didn't forgive you?"
I was gambling.
That was my only card.
My last hope.
Declan stared at me, his hands still around my neck, breathing hard.
Then, he shook his head.
A small, evil smile formed on his lips.
"That's not a tangible reason for me to let you go," he said.
He leaned close one more time.
"Rest in peace... Beatrice."
And then—
Everything went black.
