Hidden Moth-Chapter 108 - 56: Old Qian Has Disappeared Too
The power of explosives doesn’t just depend on the quantity; the environment of the explosion is more important. If it happens in an open field, it might just be a free fireworks show, but in a sealed space, the destructive power becomes particularly immense.
The bunker had already collapsed seventy years ago and has been abandoned for so many years without maintenance. It probably has the risk of collapse at any time. With such an implosion, it’s estimated that the entire structure has collapsed.
The manpower, material resources, and financial expenses for building this bunker were enormous. Once it collapses, trying to dig it out safely would increase the difficulty by at least an order of magnitude...
Nowadays, no unit has the budget for this, nor is there any need.
He Kao walked through the amusement park to leave, and before leaving, he didn’t forget to close the gate but couldn’t find a lock. He then walked alone under the moonlight.
Not long after his figure disappeared, a masked figure appeared by the gate out of thin air, wearing gloves and holding a half-rusted padlock found from somewhere, locking the rusty, broken gate of the amusement park.
The masked figure then turned around and mysteriously disappeared on the spot.
The wrap-up is done here, but there’s more work to do tonight. In the city center, a few more places need some fireworks to let the entire city’s people celebrate festively.
Driving home from Joy Valley was quick, but He Kao dragged his sore legs and walked for over forty minutes. As he passed by the Xia Wan River, he suddenly remembered something, took out the phone he got from the thug, and threw it into the middle of the river from a distance.
Upon returning home, Gao Xue’e was still asleep, occasionally mumbling indistinctly, her long eyelashes sometimes trembling quickly. He Kao sat by the bed, and without turning on the lights, he could sense things clearly.
He was actually very tired too but was still waiting for news from the masked figure when he heard a noise outside.
Walking out of the bedroom, he saw the masked figure coming down the stairs and asked, "Is everything handled?"
The masked figure asked back, "What’s going on? I couldn’t appear in your room, not even behind you!"
He Kao: "It’s a Perception Ability. I seem to be able to detect things around me without using my eyes. I wasn’t using the lights just now, and I was using it inadvertently."
The masked figure: "No wonder! In this pitch black, you learned from those sorcerers?"
He Kao: "It’s hard to explain in a few words. This can’t be considered true Divine Sense, just that the Perception Ability is somewhat extraordinary."
The masked figure: "What about President E?"
He Kao: "Already asleep, probably dreaming."
The masked figure: "Let’s go upstairs to talk; there’s something I must tell you right now."
He Kao thought for a moment, then turned on the living room lights and followed the masked figure upstairs. They didn’t go to the rooftop terrace but went to the large room with a secret chamber on the third floor.
There was surprisingly a table and chairs set up inside, brought up when they drank tea on the roof the other day. It seemed the masked figure had moved them here again.
The masked figure turned on the flashlight on his phone, illuminating a pile of items on the table: "Here are the useful items you left at the test site, and I helped bring them over here... You clearly didn’t have the keys; how did you get into the house today?"
On the table were miscellaneous items like He Kao’s phone, keys, wallet, identification, etc., left at the E-Times District test site. Without these things, he wouldn’t be able to go out tomorrow.
He Kao: "You just thought of that? Let me tell you a little secret: I usually hide the keys to the courtyard gate behind the courtyard gate, easy to reach, and I also have hidden keys inside the courtyard..."
"You even have an ace up your sleeve like this; it really suits your character." Saying this, the masked figure finally took off his mask, placed it on the table, and took two bottles of Happy Water of Fat House from under the table, handing one to He Kao.
He sat back with limbs sprawled out, twisted open the cola, and chugged down half a bottle in one go, letting out a satisfying burp.
At this moment, He Kao also suddenly felt very thirsty, tilted his head, drank half the bottle, and sat down saying, "I knew it was you all along."
This sentence was spoken naturally, like friends chatting, lacking any sense of surprise. The atmosphere was relaxed, but both their hands holding the bottles couldn’t help but tremble lightly, as if they had just experienced the aftermath of overexertion.
Huang Xiaopang sighed, "Xiao Kao, I suddenly find you really frightening, detailed to the point of overzealousness. Luckily, we’re friends!"
He Kao: "You’re exaggerating. I also have times when I’m careless, often making various mistakes. For example, there are many situations I don’t understand, but I just foolishly ponder over them."
Huang Xiaopang: "Do you know why I say this? It’s because of what happened tonight! You clearly knew it was me long ago, but when there were outsiders, you never called my name, not even a title.
Even when back at your own home, because President E was still in the neighboring room, you didn’t call my name downstairs either."
He Kao laughed: "Because you’re wearing a mask! Wearing a mask means you don’t want to reveal your identity, so I definitely can’t call it out. Now you’ve taken it off yourself.
Thanks for everything today, really sorry, if it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have to take such risks, doing so many things that one wouldn’t even dare think of."
Huang Xiaopang waved his hand: "What’s there not to dare think of? Back in the days when we played CS games, I often imagined such scenarios. Later, I got the chance to play with real guns, even went to deserted places to mess around.
The words you just said are wrong, it wasn’t you dragging me down, it’s me dragging you down. They were coming for me; if it weren’t for me, you and President E wouldn’t have encountered this.
If anyone should be grateful, it should be me. If you hadn’t helped today, I might have lost my life... Got complacent, almost thought I was invincible."
This was true, the biggest danger Huang Xiaopang encountered today was that after revealing himself, he couldn’t disappear on the spot and was instead targeted by the sorcerers’ Divine Sense, so he had to run first.
Later, when He Kao fired, it caught the attention and hesitation of those kidnappers, giving Xiaopang the chance to circle around and return to the commercial pedestrian street.
If He Kao hadn’t taken out the two kidnappers left in the pedestrian street and hadn’t provided cover at the corner of the wall and eliminated the closest Tier Three Sorcerer pursuing, even if Huang Xiaopang successfully ran back, it probably wouldn’t have worked.
When Huang Xiaopang reappeared with an automatic rifle, He Kao reminded him before leaving about the kidnappers’ Divine Sense characteristics and how to evade and interfere with Divine Sense lock-ons. By then, he was actually in an unbeaten position.
Upon careful recollection at this moment, the Invisibility Ability is truly terrifying, no wonder so many people would go mad for it, just a regular person like Huang Xiaopang managed to take out so many sorcerers and eventually destroyed the bodies without a trace.
Hearing Xiaopang’s words, He Kao suddenly asked, "Old Qian? The kidnappers asked me to call someone for rescue, implying to bring out the Hidden Moth. I called Old Qian and hinted that I was in Joy Valley; he notified you, right?"
Huang Xiaopang: "I first discovered you were missing, then called Old Qian. We both started to look for clues separately, and then I found out President E was also missing... Later, I received Old Qian’s call, saying you were in Joy Valley."
He Kao picked up the phone on the table and said, "Then where is Old Qian now? He definitely knows you’re the Hidden Moth."
Huang Xiaopang: "The call couldn’t get through, Old Qian is missing."
He Kao stood up in shock: "What? Old Qian is missing too! Are you sure?"
Why say "too"? Because he and Gao Xue’e, if not for Xiaopang’s rescue tonight, would be considered missing in outsiders’ eyes.
And after tonight, the ones missing are Zhao Hai Zhen and others.
Yet he hadn’t expected that Qian Guran would also be missing with them!
Huang Xiaopang: "I received Old Qian’s notification and rushed to Joy Valley as quickly as possible at that time, but in the process, didn’t have time to contact him. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
However, tonight there was no traffic, he came from the city, calculating the time, by the time you and President E got home, he should have arrived too. I just called to ask where he was, but couldn’t get through, it shows the phone’s off.
I searched along his route to this side and went to places he might be, but found nothing. I don’t know where he went, and he might have intentionally hidden."
He Kao: "Old Qian is very likely in trouble."
Huang Xiaopang: "Couldn’t reach him; we need to know where to find him first. I’ve checked all possible places, and some places are likely unknown to us."
He Kao: "Tonight those people..."
"Not a single living mouth, asking is impossible now..." With these words, Xiaopang gestured again, "Even if you want to find Old Qian, now it’s too late, my time is limited.
Sit down; there’s something I must tell you right now. It’s very important!"
