Chapter 93: She Chose Right

Karven stood tall, one foot grinding down on Zain’s throat.

His voice was quiet and threatening.

"I’m giving you a chance, Velra."

Velra didn’t move.

Her fists were clenched, eyes locked between the two men.

Karven tilted his head, sneering.

"Come back to me.’

"Be what you were always meant to be."

"Mine. My blade. My slave."

Zain coughed beneath his boot, blood spilling from his mouth.

But even in pain, he was grinning.

Karven pressed harder on Zain’s throat.

"Or die with him."

Velra’s brow furrowed.

She looked at Zain

And then at Kraven.

Karven extended his arm and conjured a red blade from his blood.

He tossed it at her feet.

"I’ll make it easy."

He gestured to the sword.

"Take it. Kill this bastard."

Velra stared down at the blade.

She slowly bent, picking it up.

Karven grinned. "Good girl. Now... finish it."

Zain, below, didn’t flinch.

He looked up at her, one eye swollen shut.

"Do it, Velra."

Velra closed her eyes. Her shoulders shook.

Then she moved.

One step.

Two.

She raised the blade.

Karven’s smirk widened.

And Velra drove it forward.

Straight into Karven’s chest.

CLANG!

The sword struck his body.

His armor flared in defense, stopping it just before it pierced.

Karven stumbled back in shock, rage flashing in his eyes.

"Why, Velra!?"

Velra stood tall, her eyes sharp now.

"Because I told you already."

"I belong to him."

Karven’s expression twisted with betrayal and fury.

His metal control surged.

Steel spikes rose from the ground.

Blood tendrils whipped out like razors.

"Then you die with him!"

But before he could strike—

Zain appeared in front of him.

His movement was instant—faster than before.

The bloodied, broken man stood tall now.

One arm was missing, but still grinning.

"Good job, slave number one."

"You passed."

Karven barely blinked.

Zain raised his remaining fist.

Just a short movement, compact and efficient.

One-inch punch.

BOOM!

The shockwave rippled through Karven’s armor.

It became a bomb and detonated inside his chest.

The metal cracked.

Karven was launched backward.

Blasted across the battlefield, flipping through the air.

Before slamming into a shattered concrete pillar.

Velra stood frozen, her breath catching.

The blood sword slipped from her fingers.

Clattering to the ground.

She couldn’t believe what she’d just witnessed.

Zain turned, looking over his shoulder with his injured body.

But his grin never left.

"You really did make the right choice."

Velra stepped closer, her eyes locked only on him.

"Of course I did."

Her hand sliding slowly over her lower body.

"I can’t be satisfied by anyone other than you."

Zain raised an eyebrow, amused.

"Bold claim."

Velra didn’t flinch.

"I’ve seen what he had to offer," she added with a smirk.

"It was small. Weak. Nothing compared to you."

Zain let out a laugh, blood still at the edge of his mouth.

"Now that’s the kind of loyalty I like."

Velra’s expression softened, her voice dropping lower.

"And I don’t believe for a second that the man."

"Who tore off his own arm just to make my collar..."

She reached up and touched the sleek black-and-pink collar at her throat.

"...would ever lose to someone like him."

Zain stared at her for a moment and smirked.

"Good."

He turned back toward Karven, still struggling to rise from the rubble.

"Just stay there."

He rolled his shoulders.

"I’ll finish this soon."

Velra didn’t move.

She simply stood still, smirking.

"Yes, Master."

---

Karven lay motionless for several seconds.

His chest rose and fell unevenly.

Steam hissed off his metal-coated limbs.

His armor had split down the center, exposing his injured body.

Zain stood a few meters away, smirking.

He watched without urgency as Karven twitched.

Then groaned, rolling to one side.

Karven’s eyes flared open.

His lips curled into a bitter snarl.

"Damn you..."

He staggered to his feet, hands trembling.

"Stupid... brat..."

Zain raised one brow.

"You sure you’re not done talking yet?"

"You’ve been saying you’d kill me for five minutes now."

Karven’s whole body shook.

Not from fear, but rage.

"I am going to kill you!"

That rage became uncontrolled fury.

Suddenly, both of Karven’s Mid-Tier abilities.

Metal Control and Blood Control

Flared violently.

Sparks burst around him as nearby debris twisted and sharpened into jagged spears.

Streams of blood, drawn from his own wounds and the battlefield, swirled violently.

But it wasn’t focused.

It wasn’t precise.

Zain’s smirk widened.

"Ah. So that’s what it looks like when you burn yourself out."

Karven didn’t respond.

He screamed, his power lashing out in every direction.

Blades shot through walls, and blood streaked the ground.

Velra backed up behind cover, eyes narrowing.

"He’s lost control."

Zain stayed where he was.

Then—he pulled a gun from his belt.

He flicked open the cylinder.

Six red bullets glinted inside, filled with blast breath.

Zain smirked, activating impact tag on them.

He snapped the cylinder back into place and cocked the hammer.

Karven froze for half a second, eyes widening.

Zain lifted the gun and aimed casually at him.

"You like screaming about killing people."

"But here’s your problem."

He pulled the trigger.

BANG.

A red bullet ripped forward.

When it struck, a miniature explosion detonated.

It sent Karven spinning mid-air.

"You waste power."

BANG.

Another shot.

This one caught Karven’s arm as he tried to shield himself.

It exploded on contact, burning blood and metal.

"You never learned control."

BANG.

A third round struck Karven’s foot, launching him backward again.

"Want to know the difference between us?"

Zain asked, slowly stepping forward, lining up the next shot.

Karven growled, blood and metal writhing around him.

Zain grinned.

"I enjoy the kill."

BANG. BANG. BANG.

The final three bullets slammed into Karven’s chest, shoulder, and finally his helmet.

Each one laced with Blast Breath and Impact Tag.

Each explosion reduced more of his steel armor into flakes.

Karven then hit the ground hard.

This time, he didn’t get up.

Zain twirled the smoking pistol once and holstered it.

"Show’s over."

Behind him, Velra whispered with a wicked smile.

"That’s my Master."
