Chapter 168: Blink and You’ll Catch Hands

Velra rushed through the air at full speed, her body cutting through the wind like a black and pink arrow.

The wind howled around her, but she didn’t slow down.

Her eyes were locked on the scene ahead.

She could already see it.

One of her girls, down on one knee, injured and surrounded by rubble.

And standing over her was someone else.

A tall woman with silver-blonde hair tied into a braid. Skybrand.

Velra’s eyes narrowed. "Damn it... I’m late."

Down below, Skybrand looked calmly at the wounded girl, one of Velra’s trained soldiers.

Her blade hovered just above the girl’s chest.

"Tell me where your base is," Skybrand said coldly.

The girl clenched her teeth and looked away, refusing to answer.

Skybrand stared at her. "I see."

Without another word, she raised her blade higher, ready to finish it.

But before she could strike, a voice rang out.

"Don’t you dare."

A blur of black and pink crashed toward her.

It was Velra.

She flew in fast, leg extended, aiming a sharp kick straight at Skybrand’s head.

But just as her foot was about to land, Skybrand vanished.

Velra’s eyes widened. "What?!"

In less than a second, Skybrand reappeared behind a broken pillar, standing calmly.

Her blade rested on her shoulder, untouched.

"So," Skybrand said, "you’re finally here."

Velra turned sharply to face her, fists clenched.

"You’re the one hunting my girls."

Skybrand nodded once. "And you’re the one leading them."

Velra glanced at the injured girl behind her, then looked back at Skybrand.

"You picked the wrong target."

Skybrand’s eyes stayed cold. "We’ll see."

The wind around them picked up.

The real fight was about to begin.

---

Zain had returned to the monitor room.

He stood behind the gathered heroes, eyes glued to the screen.

The battle between Skybrand and Velra had just begun.

When Zain saw Velra appear in time to save the injured girl, he quietly let out a breath.

Good... you made it.

Blazren stood next to him, arms crossed, watching the footage calmly.

Zain leaned closer to the screen, eyes narrowing as he watched Skybrand move.

One moment she was there, the next she was gone.

She was blinking from one spot to another in an instant.

He turned to Blazren. "What kind of ability is that?"

Blazren smirked without looking away. "It’s not an ability."

Zain blinked. "Huh? What do you mean not an ability?"

Blazren’s smirk widened. "Just keep watching. I’ll explain it later."

Zain frowned, confused. "Why not now?"

Blazren shrugged.

"Because this... this is something different." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"Something most don’t understand until they see it enough."

He paused, then added, "It’s also one of the requirements I forgot to tell you."

"Something needed to reach S-Rank."

Zain turned to him. "Seriously?"

Blazren nodded. "It’s not written in any official list. But every S-Rank has it."

Zain stared at the screen, his brows tight in confusion.

He watched Skybrand vanish and reappear again, cutting through the air like the wind itself.

He leaned closer, trying to make sense of it.

"Is that... a high-tier ability?" He muttered to himself.

His fingers twitched slightly at his side.

No glow... no trigger... It’s too smooth.

He glanced at Blazren, who remained silent beside him.

Zain didn’t press further.

He just turned his eyes back to the screen.

All he could do now was watch and try to understand what he was seeing.

---

Velra now stood firmly on a shattered rooftop, eyes locked on the floating figure ahead.

Skybrand hovered calmly in the sky, her translucent wings stretched wide.

Her twin swords hung loose at her sides, ready to move at any second.

Velra pointed at her. "You’re going to pay for touching my girl."

Skybrand looked down at her without blinking.

"And you’ll pay for the heroes you’ve killed."

The air between them grew tense.

The damaged ground below trembled slightly from the power they were both holding back.

Without another word, Velra spread her legs, grounded herself, and activated her zone.

The air around her warped slightly.

Waltz Zone.

Her speed increased instantly.

Her movement became faster, sharper, more precise.

She shot toward Skybrand like a pink and black missile.

Skybrand narrowed her eyes.

She could feel the change.

The wind shifted, her reaction time slowing down just a little.

Velra closed the distance in seconds, throwing a powerful spinning kick aimed at Skybrand’s ribs.

But just as her attack was about to land—Skybrand vanished.

Blink.

Velra’s foot hit nothing but air.

Skybrand reappeared behind her, hovering calmly just out of reach.

Velra landed and snapped around. "What the hell was that?"

She glared. "What is your ability?"

Skybrand gave a small smile. "Even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand."

Before Velra could respond, Skybrand vanished again.

Blink.

She appeared behind Velra.

Velra turned—too late.

Skybrand’s knee slammed into her back, launching her upward into the sky.

Velra gasped as the wind was knocked from her lungs.

Before she could recover—

Blink.

Skybrand appeared again, above her this time, and slammed her foot into Velra’s side.

Velra spun midair, thrown sideways.

Blink.

Another strike to her back.

Blink.

Another hit to her stomach.

She was being knocked around the sky like a ball.

Each time she tried to recover, Skybrand disappeared and struck again from another angle.

The sky turned into a blur of motion and pain.

Velra’s body twisted through the air, each impact sharper than the last.

She gritted her teeth, arms trying to block, legs kicking out.

But it was like swinging at a ghost.

"What... what the hell is going on?!" She shouted.

Skybrand didn’t answer.

She blinked again.

And the hits kept coming.

Meanwhile, back at the Hero Association, Zain stood in front of the monitor, eyes locked on the live feed.

He frowned deeply.

"What the hell is that..." he muttered.

He watched as Skybrand blinked across the battlefield.

She vanished and reappeared again and again.

Each time behind Velra, each time landing another hit.

Zain’s fists tightened.

"How can she keep moving like that?" he said under his breath.

"No delay, no pause... Just blink, strike, blink, strike."

His eyes narrowed.

"That’s not speed. That’s something else."

He leaned closer to the screen.

"What the hell is her ability?" he growled.

"She’s not even giving Velra a second to breathe."
