Her Marriage: The Night is Still Young-Chapter 230: He’s Even More Vigorous Than Nathaniel
This is a standalone old apartment.
There’s a private garden downstairs.
A few bodyguards quietly approached.
Just arrived downstairs.
"Woof woof woof... woof woof woof..."
A deafening barking erupted.
You could see several black German Shepherds and a few hulking men patrolling below the apartment.
"Who’s there?"
The high-intensity flashlight shone on the bodyguards.
The leading bodyguard’s pupils shrank, cursing under his breath, "Damn it, there are dogs."
"Retreat quickly, retreat quickly."
The head bodyguard quickly gestured for everyone to retreat into the shadows.
"Woof woof woof... woof woof woof..."
Several black German Shepherds were barking and chasing the bodyguards.
"Quick, let’s go, those are some huge wolves. If we alert the police, it’ll be trouble!"
The group dared not linger any longer, quickly getting into their cars.
"Buzz buzz buzz..."
Three black Audi cars one by one pulled out of the parking spots.
In the car.
"It’s over, it’s over, the young master was actually prepared for this. Not only did he add people on patrol, he even brought in these fierce dogs. This is going to be difficult."
The lanky bodyguard whispered, full of frustration.
The lead bodyguard’s face was so gloomy it seemed like it could drip water.
"Withdraw for now, we can only slowly look for an opportunity."
Through the rearview mirror.
Several black German Shepherds were still panting under the streetlights, looking majestic.
"So what do we do now? We can’t just wait around here. If we don’t bring the young master back by tomorrow night, we’re done for." Another bodyguard rubbed his hands anxiously.
The lead bodyguard was silent for a moment.
His gaze swept over the windows of the apartment building as he said in a deep voice, "Retreat further away and find a place to hide. Since they’ve increased their defenses, they won’t relax easily. If we keep watch, we’ll eventually catch an opportunity."
"When it gets light, see if we can figure out their shift patterns, then look for a chance to strike at their weak points, and ’invite’ Josephine Thompson out first."
...
Above in the apartment building.
"Mmm, no... you’re injured, you shouldn’t be so... regardless."
"Don’t you like it? Don’t all women like it longer?"
"Get lost... I really can’t stand you."
Three times already.
Josephine Thompson really couldn’t handle him.
He was more energetic and difficult than Nathaniel Gallagher.
Even now while injured, it’s already so ’deadly’.
She really couldn’t imagine how troublesome he’d be once he recovered.
"Last time, really, really..."
Nathaniel Gallagher was very strong.
Strong in every aspect.
Julian Grant was certainly aware of this.
So, he purposely tried harder.
He only allowed himself to be stronger, not worse than Nathaniel Gallagher in the slightest.
It finally ended.
It was already three or four in the morning.
Josephine Thompson was exhausted, and fell asleep before it was even over.
...
The next day.
Josephine Thompson woke up, and it was already after ten in the morning.
She opened her eyes, feeling tired.
Her whole body was sore and aching, her limbs felt floppy with no strength.
Julian Grant was already up and not beside her.
"Ah... my legs are so sore..."
Josephine Thompson felt as if her legs were about to cramp as she slowly lifted the blanket.
Getting out of bed.
Her feet felt like stepping on cotton, her whole body lightheaded.
"Julian Grant..."
She softly called out.
No one responded.
He probably didn’t want her to think he left.
Julian Grant intentionally left his backpack, car keys, phone, etc., on the bedside table.
Josephine Thompson glanced at his documents and couldn’t help but laugh.
She knew his intentions.
Immediately.
She walked towards the bathroom.
At the bathroom.
The sink was laid with a new towel and toothbrush, and Julian Grant had even considerately squeezed the toothpaste for her.
"Ah, it hurts..."
She checked herself in the mirror.
Her fair and tender skin was covered in hickeys and bruises.
"Ugh~, how annoying, why do men always like to..."
She instinctively rubbed the bruises on her neck, frowning awkwardly.
How am I supposed to face people now?
Before, Nathaniel Gallagher liked this.
Who knew, Julian Grant actually liked it too.
However, Julian Grant was at least a bit better.
At least he didn’t bite.
Nathaniel Gallagher... was terrifying.
When he got angry or when things didn’t go his way, he would get very irritable, unstable, and would purposely make her hurt. He enjoyed hearing her beg and yield, liked to hear her cry and plead with him to be gentle.
And at those times, he was often the most excited.
Would deliberately ease up a bit.
And when she let down her guard, would give her a lethal strike.
...
A little while later.
Josephine Thompson finished washing and dressing, and went downstairs.
In the living room downstairs.
Julian Grant was chatting and having tea with Zeke, Ryan Zimmerman, and two other young handsome guys she didn’t know.
Josephine Thompson hadn’t fully descended the stairs yet.
Ryan Zimmerman was the first to greet her, with a slight tease in his voice, "Yo~, Ms. Thompson is awake?"
The others also looked up to Josephine Thompson in unison.
All of them had playful smiles in their eyes.
Especially Zeke, trying to suppress his laughter.
Obviously, he must have heard the two of them last night.
"Well done, Julian, after all these years, you finally got the beauty."
Josephine Thompson’s face flushed red to her ears hearing this.
"When will we get to drink at your wedding with Ms. Thompson?"
Julian Grant grinned, "Soon, soon, Josephine, come down."
He stood up with a smile, walking over to the staircase to meet her.
He knew she was shy and didn’t like casual jokes.
Josephine Thompson’s face reddened further, softly asking, "Why are there so many people?"
"They’re all friends, long time no see. Just right, we’re looking to form an exploration team. Ryan can introduce us to more reliable people."
"Come, let me introduce you!"
"You know Ryan and Zeke. This is Kevin, and this is Rorschach, both are good friends of mine."
Josephine Thompson mustered up the courage to greet them, "Hello."
The handsome crew all flashed mischievous smiles but greeted respectfully, "Hello, sister-in-law."
"..." Josephine Thompson felt a rush of awkwardness, an indescribable embarrassment.
Nathaniel Gallagher’s social circle was entirely different from Julian Grant’s.
Nathaniel Gallagher mingled with business sharks and partners from all sectors.
When she attended events or met friends with him.
It was always very formal and solemn.
None of his friends would call her sister-in-law; she was always addressed as Mrs. Gallagher or Ms. Thompson.
On the other hand, Julian Grant’s social circle was mainly made up of top-tier heirs and young talents from various industries.
Each brimming with energy, young and spirited.
Seeing Josephine Thompson’s unease, Julian Grant chuckled as he came to her rescue, "Haha~, don’t call her that, we’re not married yet! You can change what you call her when we are."
"Okay, Julian."
"Don’t take it the wrong way, sister-in-law."
"Uh..."
"Alright, alright, enough joking around. Josephine, are you hungry?"
"I’m okay."
Ryan Zimmerman patted the table and suggested, "There’s a private restaurant nearby. The owner used to be a Michelin chef. Today, I’m treating, let’s let the sister-in-law try something new."
Julian Grant looked at Josephine Thompson, who was still a bit uneasy beside him, and gently squeezed her hand, "I just happen to be hungry, let’s go together."
"Is that place discreet?"
"Don’t worry, the owner is our friend. I’ll give him a heads-up, and we won’t have other guests. It’ll be like a private venue just for us."
"That works."
"Let’s go, let’s go!"
Everyone gathered around and started heading out.
They exited the apartment.
Kevin quickly opened the car door of the SUV, "Sister-in-law, sit in my car. I guarantee a smooth ride."
"Sister-in-law and Julian should sit in my car instead!"
Julian Grant shook his head with a smile, took Josephine by the hand, and got into his own SUV, "Forget it, just lead the way, and I’ll follow in my car."
Zeke and a few others laughed, teasing him, "Julian really is a protective husband."
"Enough idle talk, let’s hit the road. After dinner, I still need to check out the equipment."
"Alright then."
Zeke and Ryan Zimmerman got into a car.
The three cars started to drive out one after another.
...
Twenty minutes later.
They reached their destination.
The private restaurant was tucked away deep in an old alley, and at the end of the cobblestone path was a small courtyard.
As they entered.
A waitress in a cheongsam greeted them familiarly, "Mr. Grant, Mr. Zimmerman, your reserved ’Whispering Bamboo Pavilion’ is ready."
"This way, please."
The group entered the private dining room.
The room had a round table, bamboo plants beside the window, and the Longjing tea was already brewed.
"Please serve all your signature dishes."
"Alright."
Since they had called ahead.
The restaurant was well-prepared.
The dishes were served quickly.
Ten minutes after sitting down, the waitress began to serve the dishes one by one.
Soon all the dishes were on the table.
Zeke picked up a piece of cheese-baked Australian lobster and placed it in Josephine’s bowl, "Try this, sister-in-law. It’s their signature dish."
"Thank you." Josephine blushed slightly and thanked him softly.
Seeing this, Julian Grant silently peeled a shrimp for her.
As his fingers brushed the edge of her bowl, they left a hint of warmth.
After several rounds of drinks.
Ryan Zimmerman brought up the adventure team, "The person I found specializes in leading routes through The Khergit Highlands, fully equipped and very professional. There’s no problem with having him lead the team. We’ve arranged to meet the day after tomorrow for a detailed chat."
"That’s great."
Kevin toyed with his wine glass and added, "Should we prepare some emergency equipment? The signal there is poor, just in case."
Julian Grant nodded, "You handle this, safety first."
"No problem, leave it to me."
Josephine quietly listened, occasionally sipping her juice.
Rorschach noticed she wasn’t eating much and teased, "Is the sister-in-law finding us too noisy? Next time, we’ll invite just you and Julian for a quiet meal."
"Of course not."
Everyone laughed.
Josephine’s face turned even redder.
Despite being only 25 years old.
It seemed she never really enjoyed her youth.
She had matured early and was always sensible from a young age.
Right after graduating from college, she married Nathaniel Gallagher and had children.
And in her work, she always interacted with industry veterans and experts, who were much older.
Over time, she rarely dealt with people her own age.
It’s as if she’s forgotten she is only 25.
Julian Grant gently patted her hand and said to Rorschach, "Don’t tease her, or we won’t bring you next time."
"Okay, sister-in-law, I apologize, don’t mind me."
Josephine couldn’t help but laugh, "Stop joking around."
They spent over two hours eating the meal.
"We should get going."
"You guys go ahead. I’ll handle the bill."
"Alright, we’ll wait for you outside."
Julian Grant put a coat on Josephine, his fingers brushing against her cool shoulder, and softly asked, "Are you tired?"
Josephine shook her head and looked at his side profile under the setting sun at the alley’s entrance, with a slight smile on her lips.
Julian Grant gazed at her lovingly the whole time, often asking for a kiss, "Josephine, give me a hug."
"Stop it, your friends are watching."
"Let them watch, are you afraid of them seeing?" Julian Grant didn’t care and hugged her waist, lifting her and spinning around.
"Ah... stop it." Josephine hugged his neck, startled and screaming.
"Give your husband a kiss."
Josephine smiled and gave him a peck.
"Kiss me again."
"Put me down, it’s embarrassing if people see."
"No, I just like holding you like this."
"Julian, that’s enough, if you keep holding her, the sister-in-law will be too shy to stand it!" Ryan Zimmerman came out after paying the bill, leaning against the car and teasing.
Zeke and Kevin laughed along, even whistling on purpose.
Julian Grant finally slowed down the spinning.
He gently placed Josephine back on the ground but still held her waist tightly, resting his chin on her head and rubbing, "I just want to hold my wife."
Josephine’s cheeks were burning, she gently hit his chest while buried in his arms, "Stop being unreasonable."
Julian Grant caught her hand, kissed it softly on the back, his eyes full of tenderness, "Only unreasonable with you."
Kevin, having had enough of the ’dog food,’ jingled the car keys, "Let’s go, let’s go. If we don’t leave now, it’ll be totally dark soon!"
Everyone got into their cars.
Julian Grant opened the car door for Josephine, ensured she was seated comfortably, and carefully fastened her seatbelt. He chuckled as his fingers brushed her cheek, "Still hot?"
Josephine turned her face away, ignoring him.
But she couldn’t help but sneak a glance at him, her lips hiding a sweet smile.
The car slowly drove out of the old alley.
Julian Grant didn’t drive too fast, holding the wheel with his right hand, while his left hand naturally reached over to hold Josephine’s, gently stroking her palm.
"Feeling sleepy? Do you want to nap for a bit in the car?"
"Not sleepy."
"You could rest for a while. It will take at least an hour to check the equipment."
"It’s fine, I’ll just enjoy the scenery."
"Then look at me, I’m more pleasing than the scenery."
Josephine laughed, "Can’t you stop being so narcissistic?"
Julian Grant drove with a bright smile, "How am I narcissistic? Aren’t I more pleasing than the scenery?"
"I don’t want to talk to you." Josephine rolled her eyes at him and turned her gaze to the window.
Compared to Nathaniel Gallagher.
Being with Julian Grant felt more relaxed and free.
And Julian Grant was very humorous and playful, always making her laugh.
So, she gradually began to enjoy being with Julian Grant.
"Click, click!"
The scenes of their interactions were all captured on camera!
And several cars switched to follow and shoot!
These people were divided into several teams!
Some were sent by Mrs. Grant, some by Nathaniel Gallagher, and some by Eleanor Churchill.
At the same time...
There was also a group of unidentified people secretly following them.
As they drove on.
"Screech..." Julian Grant checked the rearview mirror, sensing something was amiss.
The cars following him kept changing.
But he still noticed two cars that he had seen since yesterday in his line of sight.
How could it be so coincidental?
They were encountered again today.
"What’s wrong?"
"Nothing, did you fasten your seatbelt?"
"Yes." Josephine felt a pang of nervousness and instinctively turned to look back.
There were always cars following them.
But it wasn’t always the same car.
Those tracking them probably didn’t want to get noticed.
Every few distances, they would switch to another car.
