Her Dark Desires-Chapter 81: One Who Is Barren

ONE YEAR LATER

"I’m sorry but your test results came back the same way."

Eliana’s heart sank when she heard the doctor’s words. "Oh."

Seeing the sadness in Eliana’s eyes, the doctor said, "You may not be able to get pregnant the normal way, but there are other methods you can try."

"Like?"

"Surrogacy or maybe adoption."

"Why not IVF?"

"Given your test results, I wouldn’t recommend IVF. I’m so sorry, Mrs Sanders."

There was no emotion in Eliana’s face as she replied "It’s alright, I get it. Thank you very much."

Eliana left the hospital and went back to her car absentmindedly. She sat inside the car without saying anything for a few seconds and suddenly burst into tears.

Eliana didn’t know how long she sat in that car crying, but her heart sank even further when her phone rang, and it was Zach calling.

She cleaned her eyes and took in a deep breath before she answered "Hello."

"Where are you? The party is about to start and I need you by my side."

"I will right there. Just give me some minutes." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"OK, I will wait," Zach said and ended the call.

Eliana burst into tears again as she said to herself "I will never be able to carry your child, Zach. I will never be able to feel a part of you growing inside me."

Eliana felt as if her heart was going to burst from the pain and sadness she was feeling. She felt as if life was not being fair to her but then again, it has never been fair to her.

After calming herself down, Eliana started her car and drove away.

Viellus Hotel.

Today was an exclusive party for all the wealthiest people in RoseHill City, and the host of tonight’s party was Charlotte Sanders. This party was so important that they decided to take turns each here to host it, and this year, it was Charlotte’s turn, and the proud look in her eyes was enough to tell Eliana, who just entered the hall, that the party was going well.

"The both of you are late." Charlotte was reprimanded immediately when she saw her son and daughter-in-law.

Zach kissed his Mom’s cheek and apologized. "We lost track of time."

"It was my fine, I’m sorry." Eliana apologized and gave Charlotte a brief hug.

Charlotte looked at the couple and felt as if something was wrong with them "Are the both of you alright?"

Eliana, looking away after she asked that question, confirmed her suspicion, and even though Zach replied that everything was fine between them, Charlotte felt otherwise.

"I’m going to go get a drink, you want anything?" Zachary asked his wife.

Eliana shook her head and said, "What I want is for us to talk."

"No Eliana, I don’t want to talk to you. Not right now." Zach replied and left her side.

"Trouble in paradise."

Eliana turned to see her father with two glasses of champagne. He handed her one, and when she refused to take it, he drank both of them.

"This isn’t a bar, control your liquor," Eliana said coldly with a frown on her face.

"You are always so uptight, maybe that is why Zach is starting to get tired of you."

"You were only able to gain her invite here because of me so don’t forget your manners."

"Wrong. I gained an invite because Solar Technologies has climbed the ladders to become one of the top tech companies in the world." Henry said proudly. After getting the contract from Eliana, he decided he didn’t want to go into an entertainment company again; he wanted something daring, so he started a tech company, and it blew beyond his expectations.

"I gave you that contract and I am still your biggest investor."

"Fine, I will bug out of your business but tell me this, why haven’t you still told Sloane about the divorce."

"I will tell her when it’s the right time."

"It’s been a year; I think it’s past the right time."

Eliana scoffed and said "Why? Are you already getting eager to be publicly seen with your mistress?"

"It’s more than that. I feel terrible that Sloane doesn’t even know that we are divorced, each time she claims to be Mrs. Moore, it feels as if we are secretly mocking her."

"So what do you want me to do about it? I said I would tell her when I felt it was the right time and stop pretending to be a saint; it’s disgusting. You don’t have to hide your real face for me, Henry, I know exactly what you are. You are just a selfish, two-faced man who has now made some millions but do not let that get into your head because your fate is still in my hands. Keep the money flowing and mind your business." Eliana said and was about to walk out when she heard her father saying

"He will soon leave you. No man is capable of tolerating an insufferable woman, especially one who is barren."

"What did you say?"

"Let me give you some advice. After all, I am still your father. A family like the Sanders that grows in power every day cherishes heirs, and once your marriage with Zachary is two years old without any child, they will begin to look for a fruitful replacement; I’m sure you understand what I mean." Henry said with a smile.

Eliana bit her tongue hard to the point of tasting blood in order not to shed a tear, and after she had gotten control of her emotions, she replied, "A stupid drunk like you shouldn’t even be allowed to open his mouth, much less give advice. The only reason Solar technologies are where it is today is because of Philip, a man I found for you. So go find a corner and do what you do best, drinking your worthless life away."

Henry’s eyes were filled with anger as Eliana walked out of him. "I wonder if you will still be this proud once you are no longer a Sanders. I look forward to the day when you will kneel and beg me for my forgiveness."
