Chapter 74: For Family.

It was a Sunday, and Charlotte was able to convince her children to have dinner at the mansion, so by 7 pm, Zachary and Eliana arrived at the mansion with Leo in her arms.

"Please tell me you know where your brother is. He isn’t answering my calls, nor is he replying to any of my messages," Charlotte said to Zach the moment she saw him.

Zach sighed and said, "I will go call him."

"Thank you." Charlotte’s gaze moved to Eliana, and she said, "Come help me out in the kitchen; you can give the dog to Jules."

"You are cooking?" Eliana asked in surprise as she handed over Leo to Jules.

"Yes."

"What happened to Diane?"

"Nothing. I just felt the need to feel motherly tonight." Charlotte replied with a shrug.

Eliana laughed and followed her to the kitchen.

Zachary, on the other hand, took a step outside to call Ryan, but he wasn’t answering his phone; he decided to try again for the last time before tracking him down when he finally answered.

"Where are you? And what is that sound?"

"I was with Kai. Tell Mom, I will be home in thirty minutes."

Zachary frowned and said "Are you out of your mind? Why are you still with him?"

"Relax, Zach. I just wanted to ask him something about a case, and that’s all."

"Stay away from him and people like him. We are done with that business, Ryan. The Casiso family has nothing to do with us and that includes Kai. He got what he wanted, and we got what we wanted, so that means our business is done. Do you understand?"

"I understand."

"Now come home, you have twenty minutes left," Zachary said and ended the call.

He then called Kai, and when the call went through, he said, "From now on, if Ryan wants to meet with you over anything, you tell him you are not available."

"He only came to ask about..."

"I don’t care why he came but I don’t want him meeting up with you ever again. Ryan is in the military and if anyone were to find out that he was meeting with a drug lord, what exactly do you think will happen to him? You may think I didn’t notice but I did notice it. You are not as smart as you think, and if you want someone who controls the police to be on your side, then find someone else for it."

"I’m afraid, I do not know what you are talking about."

"Don’t even think about messing with my brother, Kai. He is off-limit. Are we clear on that?" Zachary asked coldly.

Kai was silent for a moment before he replied "We are clear on that." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Zachary ended the call and whispered to himself "That kid is going to drive me crazy, someday."

"Is everything all right?"

Zachary turned to see his wife and smiled "Everything is alright, don’t worry. Let’s go inside, I don’t want you catching a cold."

"I came out because I have good news," Eliana said excitedly.

"What news?"

Eliana gave her phone to Zach and Zach read the message Henry had sent her. "He has agreed to divorce Sloane?"

"Yes, I knew he was going to agree, but hearing his confirmation made it so exciting. I have watched Sloane pride herself on being a Moore, and now I am going to take that name away from her."

"But will she agree to sign the divorce papers?"

"She wouldn’t know. I have instructed Henry on what to do. He will give Sloane some business papers that need her signature and convince her that her signature is needed for them to get back on their feet. Zach, how long can your lawyers get a divorce finalized? I want it done as soon as possible."

Zach chuckled and said, "If Henry gets her to sign the papers tomorrow, then I can make sure it gets finalized before the end of tomorrow or, at the latest, the next morning."

"Yes! That’s perfect." Eliana replied and suddenly felt his lips on hers.

"Zach, we are at your Mom’s" Eliana whispered in between the kiss.

Zach pulled away and asked, "So I can’t kiss my wife at my Mom’s."

Eliana became flustered and looked away. "You can, but you can’t look at me that."

"Like how?"

"Like you want to eat me."

Zach laughed softly, and his gaze darkened as he replied, "But I do want to eat you." He leaned in to kiss her again when they both heard his mother calling for her.

Eliana immediately pushed him away and ran inside the house, causing Zach to laugh.

Zach stayed outside for a while and was about to enter inside when he heard the sound of a car. The car parked in front of the house and Ryan came down from it.

"I made it before twenty minutes," Ryan said with a smile but his smile faltered when Zach didn’t say anything to him. His brother only glared at him and entered the house.

"Why does he get angry over little things?" Ryan asked himself before entering the house.

"I’m home," Ryan shouted.

Eliana, who just finished arranging the plates on the table, smiled when she saw Ryan approaching her. "Take a seat, and I will help Mom by bringing the wine and glasses."

"No, you take a seat. I will do it." Ryan pushed out a chair, indicating for her to sit down.

Eliana laughed and sat down while Zachary came out of the kitchen with the last plate of food and placed it on the table before sitting next to his wife.

Charlotte came out with a bottle of wine and a glass while Ryan held the remaining two glasses. He sat down while his mom poured the wine into every glass.

Charlotte sat at the head seat with a smile and asked "Should we make a toast?"

"We should. But what should we toast for?" Eliana asked.

"For family. We are what we are because we have each other backs and that is why I am certain the Sanders can never fall. And to Eliana, who has become a member of our family." Charlotte looked at Eliana and continued, "Becoming a Sanders is more than a name; it’s about being capable and willing to do anything to protect each other."

"And I am willing to do anything to protect you, Zach, and Ryan," Eliana said in a reply.

"I know darling." Charlotte replied with a smile "Cheers!"

Eliana laughed as they clinked their glasses together, and Ryan winked at her. It was one of those family dinner she never got the chance to have when she was a Moore.

Tonight, the Sanders were just like any other family. They laughed, ate, drank, and even played games before finally calling it a night.
