HELP! These Girls Wants To Kill Me-Chapter 252
Just behind his talents, there was a ’+’ sign that was glowing. The moment Yang Ze saw it, he suppressed his urge to immediately use it. Taking a deep breath, he forcefully calmed himself. Right now, his emotions were in turmoil, and he didn’t want to make any rash decisions. He wanted to be in his best shape and mind before he took the next step. After all, upgrading any talent means an overall upgrade, and there were numerous talents that he wanted to upgrade.
Closing his eyes for a moment, he took deep breaths, and when he reopened them, the excitement in his eyes was suppressed.
"Let’s just join the Royal family and upgrade the talent."
Making up his mind, he finally began to move once again.
At the moment, he was standing in the midst of a small crowd full of women. Some were curiously looking around, clearly displaying their first time here, whereas some were steadily making their way in different directions, displaying their familiarity with the surroundings.
Yang Ze didn’t know where he needed to go, so he just picked a random direction and began to walk. Initially, he thought about hiring a guide to show him around, but to his dismay, even after looking for a long time, he wasn’t able to find the so-called ’guide’. In the end, he gave up and simply chose to explore by himself.
Compared to the outer city, the buildings in the mountains were exquisite. Every single building was made with the same brown and red wood that gave off a pleasant scent. Every building was properly arranged at a perfect distance from one another, surrounded by bamboo trees and some other trees that Yang Ze couldn’t recognise, blending everything perfectly.
Even though the inner city was located in the mountains, the roads were completely made out of white stones, which looked glossy under the constant rain.
There were numerous benches all around, surrounded by flowers, probably for residents or travellers like him.
The more Yang Ze observed the surroundings around him, the more he loved it. If it were not for the ironclad rule of no man allowed and the fact that he was only here for a mission, he would have loved to stay in this place.
After admiring the surroundings for a while, Yang Ze began to walk around. He first observed the shops, which looked deserted due to the rain and then at the surrounding buildings. Unlike the outer city, the shops were limited in number, with every shop dealing with a specific type of product. No two shops sold the same thing.
Other than weapons and armour, Yang Ze was able to found almost everything.
A few times, he was even tempted to buy a few items, but thinking about how this was his first time here and he was here to join the royal family, he held back this thought.
He wanted a position in the royal family that wouldn’t be demanding. He wanted to first observe the so-called rulers of the imperial city before making any decision.
Exhaling a mouthful of air, he began to walk towards the nearest wooden bridge connecting the mountains.
"Hisss..." The moment Yang Ze stepped in front of the bridge and saw it in its full glory, he couldn’t help but let out a cold breath.
From the bottom, though the bridges looked impressive, it was hard to make a true sense of them. And now that he was standing right in front of them... he couldn’t help but click his tongue in amazement.
The entire bridge was constructed by the same wood used in the construction of the buildings in the Inner city.
At first, he thought those were rope bridges, but it was only now that he realised just how wrong he had been.
The bridges were supported by massive pillars of what looked like trees. On both sides of the bridge were three layers of rail guards, preventing anyone from accidentally falling down.
The more he looked at the bridge, the greater his amazement grew. Compared to this Imperial city, the Yuyang city was more like slums.
Clicking his tongue in wonder, he crossed the bridge, often looking at the scenery beneath him that was somewhat covered in fog. Though he raised a few occasional glances from the passersby, no one actually paid any attention to him. In their eyes, she was just a small, curious girl looking around.
The second mountain was completely different from the first mountain. Compared to the buildings, there were large patches of farmland. Even though he couldn’t see it clearly due to the distance, rain and fog, he could make out a few buildings with small patches of gardens and some huts with large farms in front of them.
"This is the farming area?" Yang Ze couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. Even Yuyang City didn’t have its own farming zone.
After admiring it for a while, he kept on walking.
It wasn’t until he crossed the second bridge and stepped onto the third mountain that he finally felt constant gazes from all around.
Some were filled with shock, some with pity and most of them with greed and malice.
Suppressing the discomfort in his head, Yang Ze looked around him only to realise that he seemed to be the only ’traveller’ in this place. Other than him, every single woman in this place was wearing the same purple dress with different tokens hanging by their waist.
"Little lass... are you lost?" And just when Yang Ze was wondering if he should turn back or explore further, a seductive, gentle voice sounded in his ears.
"Umm!?" Raising his head, Yang Ze was greeted by a woman in her thirties with heavy makeup on her face. At the moment, her eyes were constantly scanning the small and petite figure of the girl in front of her while she occasionally licked her lips as if wanting to devour her completely.
"Elder sister... You are?" Putting on his best smile, Yang Ze gazed at her personal panel only to see a single white talent. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"How sweet." The woman seemed clearly pleased with the girl’s way of addressing her as sister. With a smile on her lips, she gave her introduction.
"You can call me Sister Lu." After giving her introduction, the woman asked again.
"What are you doing here?"
"Me?" Yang Ze was about to say that he was here on sightseeing, but the moment those words came on his lips, he swallowed them back.
This was the first time a woman from the inner city was talking to him. Wasn’t this the perfect opportunity to gather some more intelligence?
The moment this thought came to his mind, Yang Ze immediately let out a gentle, harmless smile before giving an answer.
"I have heard a lot about the Imperial city."
"I want to join it."
"HUH!?" This time it was the woman’s turn to be surprised. She didn’t expect someone to willingly join the imperial city. But after seeing her youthful, innocent face, she seemed to realise something as the smile on her face only grew wider.
"Did you tell your parents?" It was her way of probing her. She wanted to know if the girl had any background or not. Her answer was going to decide how she was going to be treated in this city.
The moment the woman mentioned ’parents’, the small girl in front of her clenched her fists, and her face fell. She seemed to be having a hard time coming up with a reply.
Looking at the small girl in front of her stammering, the woman didn’t interrupt her, but the smile on her face only widened.
It wasn’t until a few minutes passed that the small girl answered in a trembling voice.
"I lost them..." Her voice faltered, and one could feel the grief in it. "I am the last surviving person of my family."
As soon as the girl said those words, tears fell from her eyes.
"Poor child." The mature woman finally took a step forward, taking the girl in her embrace as she gently consoled her.
The moment she pulled the girl in her embrace, the surrounding gazes retracted. Some were filled with pity, some with frustration and some with pleasure.
Yang Ze clearly felt every gaze but didn’t bother to lift his head.
In the woman’s embrace, he almost suffocated from the heavy perfume and the smell of makeup. He almost patted her away, but controlled himself from making any rash moves.
He then used his illusion, as well as the rain, to make it seem like he was crying his heart out.
For a moment, even Yang Ze was amazed by his own acting skills.
The woman kept on consoling him for a good ten minutes. And once the little girl in her arms finally stopped crying, she took her hand and slowly headed in a different direction.
"You poor thing... come, live with your elder sister for a few days."
"I will make sure you will have a good life ahead."
Yang Ze didn’t struggle or free himself. He merely nodded in response as he was dragged by the woman away from there.
Their journey lasted for almost an hour. During the entire time, the woman would keep on asking him questions such as whether there were any relatives or not. If yes, then she would help her find them.
She even asked if the girl had tried to join the sect, her results or if she met any experts.
Listening to her constant barrage of questions, Yang Ze always replied negatively. How could he not understand that the woman was making sure he had no background or backing? As for why... he had no idea.
But judging by the woman’s increasingly excited reaction and the constant envious gazes that he felt from the surroundings while he walked with her, he had a rough idea. Though it was ridiculous... after what Yang Ze had seen, he was willing to believe it.
The two of them were walking deep into the mountain, far away from the buildings. From this place, Yang Ze couldn’t even see the bridges or the outer city.
The rain, too, had gotten heavy at some point.
If not for the woman’s umbrella, the two of them would have been drenched completely.
And just when Yang Ze was wondering how far they were going, the woman finally stopped in front of a small, exquisite building that had a small garden in front of it.
"We are here." Her voice was even more excited than before as she pulled the girl behind her forcefully, completely ignoring her will.
"What is this place?" Yang Ze showed no emotion on his face. The woman pulling him was a cultivator in the middle stage of the Body Refining realm.
To someone like him... Someone like her was even less than an ant.
If he accidentally pulled his hands, he was afraid her body would be torn in half.
"You will know soon enough." The woman licked the corner of her lips as she pulled the girl behind her with an even greater force.
The two of them were soon in front of the small, exquisite house, and the moment the woman pushed open the door, Yang Ze’s eyes narrowed into slits and his nose wrinkled in response.
He felt a burst of nauseating smell hitting his face.
It felt like something rotten was placed inside.
"What the..." Narrowing his eyes, he glanced at the scene in the room, and the moment he did, his breathing almost stopped.
Inside the room, there was a large fire lit up in the middle of the room, upon which a giant cauldron was placed.
But it wasn’t the cauldron that shocked him. Instead, it was the small human hands, legs and a half-boiled head that made him narrow his eyes.
"YOU..." The scene was so absurd that Yang Ze couldn’t even believe his eyes. How could something like this happen in the heart of the Imperial city?
Wasn’t this place the capital of the Yan Kingdom?
Wasn’t this place under the rule of the Heavenly Sword Sect!? A righteous sect?
The more he thought about it, the more he found himself at a loss.
"DON’T BE AFRAID." The woman seemed to have gone crazy as the previous calm and care on her face were now gone, replaced by a fanatic expression as she tightly grabbed the wrist of the girl, afraid that she might run away.
"....."
"....."
Yang Ze didn’t say a word but quietly gazed at the crazed woman in front of him. Even though he appeared calm, anyone familiar with him would have seen the rage in his eyes.
"I was initially going to trade some gold coins with you to understand more about this place."
"But now..." Suppressing his urge to throw up due to the vile smell around him, Yang Ze twisted his hand like a snake, freeing his wrist from the woman’s clutches as he grabbed her wrist tightly.
This sudden turn of events took the woman by surprise, who didn’t expect a scenario like this.
She wanted to turn around and grab the girl, but before she could, she felt an immense force on her wrist along with the sound of bone snapping.
*Cracckkkk...
"AAAHHHHHHH..." A miserable cry filled the room that was engulfed by the sound of heavy rain.
And before the woman could scream further, a small, soft hand covered her mouth, and a cold voice sounded in her ears.
"Now I will ask, and you will answer."
