Help! the four Alpha's are obsessed with me.-Chapter 208 A trip to the past III
On the bed, Daniel rolled around, his mind painting a devastating scene: the moment he was declared to have failed the exams, unable to perform. He wasn’t just thrown out of the building—he met that disappointed look on his father’s face, and that was the end.
Before his father could pour out his rage, he awakened with a gasp. Deep sweat dotted his forehead as he shifted from the bed.
"No, I can’t fail. I can never fail!!"
He chanted that and stood up, going to the window. Morning was already upon them, sunlight creeping up into the sky. Daniel’s dreadful moment was coming—the exam that would determine his fate in the music industry. He was scared shitless, if he wasn’t going to lie.
Panic rushed in his chest, but he clutched his pendant. One he’d seen dropped by a stranger months ago. Not that he was a thief—he’d tried returning it, but the owner just disappeared. The pendant was too beautiful to abandon, so he’d made it his own, trying to invoke good thoughts from it whenever he lacked confidence.
"Daniel, your future is here..."
A familiar voice finally resurfaced, opening the door and stepping into his room. It was his father, already dressed up, coming to make sure Daniel was ready. Thankfully, Daniel hadn’t lingered too long—he’d taken his bath when he woke up and now dressed in the best outfit Alessandro had gotten him.
Right now, they looked no less than upper class. The outfit cost a lot, but it was worth it—after all, according to Alessandro, Daniel was going to pay every expense back.
When Daniel was done, he took a step before his father, who assessed him thoroughly. Seeing everything was good, he nodded. But before he stepped away, he placed a hand on Daniel’s shoulders.
"This feminine attitude of yours—I hope it doesn’t cost us the opportunity. Because if they ban you, I won’t forgive you. You know that. So fix your posture." Alessandro cautioned while fixing Daniel’s long-sleeved shirt. Patting his son’s back, he walked out, and Daniel strutted out behind him.
Daniel didn’t see his brother and sister, but when he was leaving, he caught the look of pity they threw at him. He didn’t blame them—he himself felt sorry for his miserable life now. He was at the edge of a sword where a single failure would ruin him completely.
They entered Alessandro’s truck, the rickety trash that could collapse anytime soon—he was sure of it. Shame wouldn’t let Mr. Lancaster drive them into a den of elites, so he parked at a normal motor park, boarding a taxi that carried them to the headquarters where the exams were going on. Arrival at the famous Palace of Music, where musical activities were all done. The taxi stopped at the gate, and Mr. Lancaster came down, looking at the structure of the building with so much pride.
He knew the owner—it was the wife of the richest man in New York City and all of America. She was the operator of such a huge establishment, and Mr. Lancaster was dying to meet her, which was impossible. To sight her was difficult enough; her pictures were hardly taken by the press, talk more of him. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"So this is the moment..." He said out loud and looked around to show Daniel what he was talking about, but the young man was nowhere to be found.
Meanwhile, Daniel had walked a bit far from where he and his father were supposed to stay. While admiring the enormous structure and high building, he crashed into a group of young people like him—who were obviously nepo babies. Their dressing made Daniel gasp; he couldn’t help his expression.
The gold intricate designs were blaring. The girls among them, two of them, were holding designer bags at their age. He counted—five of them total: three boys and two girls. With their sneers and scowls, he knew instantly he had landed in trouble.
Crowds were forming all around, so it was obvious he’d landed on someone, especially with the way he’d been gawking at everything expensive. And with the vicious gazes, one was soft. Too soft. He was caught staring back.
It was a guy, the middle one being flanked by the people around him. His clothes were literally the most expensive by the looks of it. Despite buying Daniel an expensive outfit that could be seen as upper class, compared to these, it looked like thrift wear. Shame couldn’t have caught him more.
"Stop looking at him that way—can’t you see he’s scared?" The young boy warned his clique and then moved closer to Daniel, who was surprised this was happening.
"I’m Xylander Wayne, and these are my friends. Nice to meet you, stranger." Daniel was shaken by the hand, and the soft touch of the boy’s hands made Daniel’s body stiffen.
He was lost in Xylander’s hazel eyes, which were still on him fully.
"Your name, boy? Or don’t you have one?" He didn’t use a rude tone, and Daniel didn’t know when he said it out loud.
"Daniel Lancaster."
When he revealed his name, the others at the back gave him puzzled looks.
"Are you not from here? We don’t know any family high up called Lancaster." And with that word, Daniel froze.
Was he in trouble? And shouldn’t he—oh goodness, his father. He left him at the gate and walked in without his guidance.
Oh, he was so dead.
"Let him breathe. Use that zeal to learn your part of the song and allow him to breathe." Xylander defended him. Daniel couldn’t help but blush and laugh slightly.
Xylander’s friends were obviously disgusted, and they didn’t hide it—showed it openly, as if he was some kind of smelly goods.
"Well, I have to go, Daniel. You’re here for the exams, isn’t it? If so, good luck. I know you’re getting in no matter what, because you look smart."
Xylander’s words made Daniel’s feet root to the spot. He believed in him? Someone he just met?
That gave him some confidence—one he couldn’t explain how it came from. And he thanked him back.
"You too, handsome!" He couldn’t help complimenting him, and Xylander winked at him before leaving with his sour friends.
Daniel’s heart was beating so fast. What was that feeling? And wasn’t Xylander a guy? So he shouldn’t be feeling that way, right?
Oh gosh, why must the guy say that? Now he couldn’t stop it from flooding his head. And he believed in him. That made his whole day. And the smile was like bright sunlight in his dark world—because when last did he smile or laugh? Well, he did that today.
But as he looked for his father, he had no idea that would be the last smile he would have in years to come...
