Help! I unknowingly enrolled myself into a supernatural Academy-Chapter 77: Let’s run away
Ryker’s relieved joy was suddenly replaced by deep confusion. "What do you mean?" he asked, his brow furrowing again. "How is a Tribrid possible, and how does that make us safe?"
Aiden’s mood lifted completely. He smile and he began explaining the progression of his powers and why the more he learned, the more certain he became that he was a hybrid, and not just any hybrid, but a Tribrid.
"Do you remember the history of the witches guidance birds?" Aiden started, pulling Ryker’s focus in. "I now have a supernatural guidance bird. That’s something only witches have. It’s an incredibly rare ability, and more importantly, the witches who have one are almost entirely extinct now. In the entire school, in this entire era, I might be the only one who still possesses one."
He then went on to recount the entire conversation he’d had with Rainbow, the bird, about the nature of his abilities and the implications of being a hybrid and how rainbow had confirmed that he is truly a Tribrid.
"But the strongest evidence, the thing that convinced me, is the healing," Aiden continued, gesturing to the palm he had just cut. "I’ve been comparing my abilities to everyone else’s. The wolves, like you, take longer to heal than the Fae. That’s a known fact. But even the best Fae, like Zane, whose healing process is supposedly superior, is not as fast as mine."
Aiden brought Ryker’s attention back to the instant wound. "When I cut my hand, Ryker, the wound didn’t even have the opportunity to show. It didn’t bleed. It was gone before the blood could even drip." He leaned in, his voice dropping slightly in awe. "The only logical conclusion for that level of speed is that I have both the powerful wolf healing ability and the rapid, restorative Fae healing power acting simultaneously, compounding on one another."
Aiden finished his explanation with a triumphant final statement. "When you combine the wolf healing, the Fae healing, and the witch guidance bird, the math works out perfectly. At the end of the day, I’m a Tribrid."
Ryker didn’t speak right away. He needed a moment to process the sheer weight of everything Aiden had just revealed.
He thought back over the instantaneous healing.
Ryker was a dominant Alpha. He knew, instinctively, that Aiden’s theory was likely not only correct but utterly groundbreaking. Everything Aiden had just said screamed the same powerful truth: I am a Tribrid. I am a Tribrid.
Once the initial shock and surprise began to fade, a slow, radiant happiness spread across Ryker’s face.
This monumental discovery meant that the fragile, emerging bond between them was secure. Aiden wasn’t just a Fae or a witch, who might become incompatible with his Alpha-Wolf nature. He was a perfect, multifaceted being who was destined to remain Ryker’s mate forever.
Ryker smiled, a bright, genuine expression that was rarely seen. Before Aiden could fully marvel at how incredibly handsome Ryker looked when truly happy, Ryker had already pulled him into a fierce, enveloping hug. He held Aiden tightly, his happiness overflowing.
"You know, I’m so incredibly happy right now," Ryker confessed, his voice slightly muffled against Aiden’s hair. "I’m happy that fate wasn’t cruel to me after all. I honestly thought that our mate bond might disappear at any moment.
I truly believed that as soon as you turned out to be something other than a wolf, that I wouldn’t be able to feel this connection with you anymore. But now," he pulled back just enough to look Aiden in the eyes, his own shining with intense emotion, "now I’m overjoyed to have learned that you’re going to remain mine. You’re still going to be my mate, and you’re going to be the most powerful person in the world."
Aiden relaxed completely in Ryker’s arms, smiling just as widely. "I’m very happy too," he said, savoring the security of the embrace. "I’m glad that I’m your mate. I’m glad that you’re going to be mine forever."
As the euphoria of their reunion and the grand revelation settled, a harsh, cold reality suddenly intruded on Aiden’s mind.
It was a memory that felt like a bucket of icy water being dumped on his excitement. He remembered the fact that his mate, the man holding him, was still officially engaged to Seraphina.
Aiden couldn’t help the wave of intense jealousy that washed over him. He was the one fate had chosen for Ryker. He should be the one standing beside him, the one openly acknowledged, but he couldn’t even claim his rightful place.
Though Ryker was hugging Aiden and couldn’t see the sudden darkening of his expression, he was an Alpha and his senses were attuned to his mate. He instantly felt the shift in Aiden’s mood, the subtle tension replacing the relaxation, the sudden flash of anger and discontent.
Ryker gently disentangled himself from the embrace. He cupped Aiden’s sulking face in his hands, forcing him to meet his gaze. "Baby, why are you angry?" he asked softly, a touch of concern in his voice. "Did I do something wrong?"
Aiden’s heart did a thrilled little flip-flop at the sound of the endearment. Baby. Deep down, that word made him incredibly happy, but he refused to let that excitement show entirely. Even though one part of his heart was ecstatic, the other part still felt profoundly aggrieved and wronged. He felt the need to voice his resentment.
"I’m your mate, right?" Aiden asked, his voice shaking slightly with emotion. "I should be the one by your side. But you have a fiancée. To protect myself and the both of us, I can’t even tell people that I’m your real mate." His voice grew mournful. "I feel so pitiful. Now, if people see the two of us together, they’re going to call me the third party. They’ll say I’m the one who came in between you and Seraphina."
Ryker had been so consumed by the sheer joy and relief of finding his permanent mate that he had completely forgotten about the inconvenient detail of Seraphina.
But Aiden’s words slammed the reality back into his awareness, and he instantly frowned. Before, he had only considered Seraphina an eyesore and a major inconvenience.
Now that he had his true mate, Ryker felt that Seraphina had transcended mere inconvenience; she was actively standing as a barrier between him and his happiness. His existing distaste for her doubled.
Ryker, being the rash, protective person he was, acted on instinct. "How about we leave the school together for now?" he proposed, his eyes burning with conviction. "We can go somewhere far away, and when your power manifests completely, we can come back. That way, no one will be able to do anything to you."
He held Aiden’s hands tightly. "I truly do not like Seraphina. And after we are gone, if she and her family, or even my own family, dares to come after us, I will protect you with everything I have. Like you, I can’t stand the fact that I’m entangled in an engagement with someone I don’t love. And I absolutely hate seeing you so aggrieved like this; it breaks my heart. I don’t want people pointing at you and calling you a homewrecker. I truly fear I won’t be able to prevent myself from hitting people if they slander you. So let’s escape, my love. Don’t worry, I can protect you."
Aiden’s face broke into a wonderfully bright smile. The fact that Ryker was willing to throw away his future and escape everything just to be with him was intoxicating. But Aiden, despite his romantic feelings, was also pragmatic.
He knew that running away was not a long term solution. Besides, his powers should fully manifest soon, especially since he already had his phenomenal healing ability.
"I think my power will soon fully manifest," Aiden reassured him. "So for now, why don’t we just keep our relationship a secret until the rest of my powers fully come in? When my power is fully manifested, we won’t have to hide anymore. We can be like any normal couple, and I don’t think your family will be able to object to us being together then."
Ryker was definitely not happy with the idea of hiding, but he understood the logic and the immediate danger. "Yes," he conceded with a sigh. "That’s the only sensible thing we can do."
Ryker reached out and gave Aiden a soft flick on his forehead, a playful gesture of affection. "And listen to me carefully," he continued, his tone becoming serious. "We can’t tell the whole school about you being a Tribrid, even after your power fully manifests."
"You told me yourself that Rainbow advised you not to, saying it’s too dangerous. The last Tribrid two centuries ago was powerful, and I’m sure there’s a reason why she never publicly revealed her true nature, only claiming to be one of the three kinds which is a witch. For you, we’re going to keep it like that too. You can’t be a Tribrid to the school. You can only be one of the three."
Aiden frowned immediately, the good humor vanishing again. "But if I tell the school that I am only a Fae, which Rainbow told me to do, then I won’t be able to be with you," he pointed out. "Because I won’t be able to tell people I’m your mate. A dominant Alpha male cannot be mated to a fae, but only to a dominant wolf Omega ." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Ryker shook his head, a thoughtful look on his face. "We can still be together. It’s just that instead of telling the school you’re becoming a Fae, you tell them you’re becoming a wolf." He tapped Aiden’s chest gently. "That way, we can still reveal to everyone that we are mates, and it will align with the laws."
Aiden was skeptical. "But I heal a lot faster than wolves. I even heal faster than you, and you’re a dominant Alpha. They won’t believe that I’m a wolf."
Ryker shook his head once again, his confidence unwavering. "And you also heal faster than Zane, who is supposed to be the person with the highest Fae blood potential. Aiden, you are different.
"The elders and leaders know that when your true power manifests, it will go against everything they know. They won’t think much of the fact that you’re a wolf that heals faster than even the person who is supposed to be the most powerful wolf among us. Aiden, trust me.
"But to be safe, we might as well keep the fact that you’ve already discovered your phenomenal healing power a secret from everyone. We’ll keep it quiet until you manifest a power that is specifically significant to the wolf lineage, like developing your wolf claws or a full shift. Then, combined with your healing speed, they will be forced to believe that you’re a wolf."
