Help! I Became A Guy In A BL Novel!-Chapter 336: Omegaverse? What Is That?
"I don’t even know what a mate is!" Bob had to stop himself from screaming. He wasn’t a screamer by nature, but something about this bizarre wolf-eared stranger and the growing feeling that he was in over his head was making his voice hit new octaves.
Riven sighed deeply, the kind of sigh you give when someone tells you they’ve never seen art, real art, before. "Do you know what the omegaverse is?"
Bob blinked. His storm-grey eyes went round with confusion, and his freckled face scrunched in a way that Riven—against his will—had to admit was annoyingly cute.
"I don’t think so," Bob said after a moment. "What is it? Is it... A verse from a religious text?"
That almost made Riven choke. "Oh, boy. Ohhh, boy." He was grinning now, a slightly feral glint in his eyes. "You are in for a treat. Where do I even begin?"
He turned dramatically, throwing one arm around Bob’s shoulders like a long-lost drinking buddy. The redhead stiffened under the sudden touch, but Riven didn’t seem to notice—or care. He locked eyes with John over Bob’s shoulder and smirked like he’d just stolen his wallet.
"Boys," Riven announced, "it’s gonna be a while."
John’s protective hold on his annoyance was slipping, but there wasn’t much he could do. Bob had agreed to go with Riven, and John—after an audible exhale—remained rooted to his spot. Leon, meanwhile, leaned against the oak tree like he’d paid good money to watch this unfold live.
Riven steered Bob down the street, away from the crowds, into a little corner between two sleek glass storefronts. The kind of place where you could have a private conversation or talk about explicit things without people looking at you like you’re creepy.
Bob gave him a side-eye. "Why do I feel like you’re about to tell me something that will either change my life or ruin it?"
Riven smirked. "Oh, it’ll do both."
He leaned against the wall, tail flicking lazily behind him, and gestured for Bob to stand opposite. "Alright, listen..."
"Right-"
"Shh don’t interrupt.
So. The omegaverse. It’s... a system. A social structure. Imagine your usual human society, right? Jobs, families, weird unspoken rules about how many pickles you can put on a burger before it’s considered psychotic—"
"What—"
"Yeah, no that was not a good metaphor, forget that. Anyway, now add biology into the mix. Not just human biology. Animal biology. Hierarchy, instincts, pheromones... The whole thing. You’ve got three main categories: alphas, betas, and omegas."
Bob blinked slowly, his brain clearly buffering. "Alphas... like in those weird motivational books?"
"Ew, no. No weird conservative male bullshit-"
"Good because, young man. That is not a good ideology." Bob shook his head.
"Young man? How old are you?" Riven frowned. He kind of assumed they were around the same age.
"I am... Well, I was forty-six years old before... The tragedy." Bob admitted, "I’ve got to say, being in a young body feels invigorating, my joints feel great, my back feels great!"
"Not for long-" Riven snickered. Mated to three? He only read that in stories, did not think it could happen, but it did. And now Bob was in for a ride. Also, he was forty-six?! This guy was middle-aged! Damn.
"What?" Bob couldn’t quite catch what Riven said.
"Nothing. Anyway. Alpha’s are at the top of the food chain. They are strong, have great instincts, and will destroy those who offend them." Riven explained.
"Oh, I see... Wait..." Bob seemed to put some things together.
Riven looked at him expectantly. Does he understand what he was going to face?
"I heard that you were with the alpha..." Bob said softly.
"Well ye, there are alphas in the wolf clan, and one alpha that leads everyone, I am with him. And you are with..." Come on Bobo you can do this. Piece it together.
Unfortunately, he did not piece it together.
"Aaanyway, betas are the middle ground—regular folks, no special instincts, just trying to pay rent and survive. Omegas..." Riven’s grin widened. "Omegas are rare. They’ve got heightened senses, strong pheromones, and—get this—they can go into heat."
Bob froze. "...Heat. Like... a cat?"
"More like a dog..." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Bob’s face was the picture of middle-aged disbelief. "That sounds... inconvenient."
"Oh, it’s more than inconvenient. It’s messy. It’s steamy, it’s hot... And it’s very entertaining for me." Riven smirked.
Bob gave him a flat look. "So where do I fit into this? Because I’ve... Wait... Mate to the Alphas... I am... An Omega?! I will go into heat?!"
Riven tilted his head, pretending to examine him like a jeweller appraising a questionable gemstone. "You’re probably a beta. Or... You just haven’t triggered whatever instincts this body came with yet. Who knows? You’re a transmigrator, I’m a transmigrator... Biology’s already confused."
"Right..." Bob muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "So... a mate is..."
Riven leaned in, grin turning sharp. "A mate is your... person. Your ’fated partner.’ Your instincts tell you when you meet them. It’s all very dramatic. Heart-racing, scent-fixating, can’t-be-apart-for-more-than-three-hours levels of clingy. And when you’re an omega and your mate’s an alpha? Well, congratulations. You’ve just signed up for a lifetime of... Well, you’ll find out soon enough."
"I’m mated to three!" Bob wanted to cry!
Bob’s whole face twisted into a grimace so deep it looked like it might get stuck that way. "I hope to God-"
"Nope, too late for that. Nothing can change this. You are mated to three of them." Riven crossed his arms.
"But... No!"
"Riven snorted. "Yeah, well, welcome to the omegaverse, buddy."

"What the-" Xavier looked around, and the two people he was supposed to guard, well, mostly Riven, were gone!
He was there holding two beautifully wrapped sandwiches with fresh, warm artisan bread and good quality ingredients! It took him a while to find these!
Did anyone know how hard it was to find meals that he could take to go, everything was premium, an "experience" and luxury that they simply could not package. And now they were gone!
