Chapter 96: Meeting The High Priest (1)

Time slowed continuously, by the time they were done with fully dressing Serena up, it was already quite late, and Serena could hear the commotions coming from outside of the royal house, she could already guess that the guest were already arriving, the more she thought about it, the nervousness she thought had died down came back with a force of its own, she felt a need to peeped out the window to see how it looked like now but since the ladies were still inside with her, she held back.

"I must say my lady, you look absolutely stunning in this dress!" the ladies who had mixed feelings with Serena’s choice earlier could not help but praise, as they thought Serena looked elegant right now, and Serena could not agree more on this.

Staring back at her in front of the huge mirror, was a extremely beautiful and confident woman, and Serena found it hard to believe it was her in the mirror, maybe it was some angel inside the room, she thought, but who was she kidding.

The beige colored gown looked bright in the night, she had choose a king sleeved hand since Eiravyn said to dress warmly but that did little to cover anything up, because the gown was off-shoulder. The bodice is intricately embroidered with silver threads and precious gems. Her slender body was framed by a tight corset, to enhance her womanly figure, the skirts falls in elegant folds, with a subtle trail behind her, and puffed belle sleeves, delicate silver and embroidery adorn the hem and sleeves. The overall look exhumed soft and unwavering beauty that left the ladies in a daze.

Her long curly red hair was parted in the middle and was left to fall to her back to further accentuate the look, multiple silver accessories were attached to it, exuding regal elegance. Serena had instructed the maids to use the jewlries Eiravyn gifted her. So now, the silver necklace with a tiny teardrop sapphire now rested on her slender neck, it’s shimmering light seemed to shift and change color depending on the light. And it made the red in her hair stand out.

Though her appearance was not as flamboyant and luxurious as what the maids were used to, they still felt like she was the most beautiful lady they ever served. Her white skin and red hair was a sharp contrast to her beige colored dress that looked almost white. She would easily stand out in front of a huge crowd, they thought. As Serena stood up from the chair, the maids couldn’t hold the gasp that flew out of their mouth from her unique appearance, she could easily rever a goddess.

"Everyone will be amazed when they see you." Aurora complimented. She couldn’t believe someone could be this pretty.

Serena just smiled as she walked back to her room, the ladies flanking her sides, she walked closer to the window to observe the commotion outside of the royal house out of curiosity. She was startled with the array of sleek cars that lined up the circular lawn, as if that was not enough, Serena saw some plepplr coming out of carriages and this left her in shock, as this was the very first time she was witnessing a sight like this, some of the carriages was pulled by a single horse while some had two-three horses with a carriage man riding it. Serena could guess that people on the carriages where from the lower class families, because of how they looked around the royal house when they stepped out of the carriage.

What struck Serena the most was the number of expensive, sleek cars packed in the royal house, it seemed this banquet wasn’t a child’s play by the obvious display of wealth. Serena saw some people chattering away as they made their way into the royal house, while some looked too serious, a few looked extremely excited. She felt a sudden rush of anxiousness overwhelm her as she witness this scene, she was pulled out of her daze state by a maid.

"My lady, you must come out now. The knight is already waiting for you outside." The maid informed her, successfully rousing her from her thought.

Serena snapped out of her daze, and turned to look at the maid, who spoke. "Get me something to wear on top of this," she said, "Something warm." Serena added.

Two maids rushed to fulfil her request, they came back with a thick fur of similar color to what she was wearing, they draped it over her, before they resumed their position — standing behind her.

As she stepped out of her bed chamber, she found a knight she had never seen before standing guard at her door, his face was stern and unapproachable, the only thing he said even without introducing himself was this way and nothing else, not that Serena mind but she just finds it strange.

’Is it that Vampires are naturally rude in nature?’ She wondered to herself.

Before leaving the maids turned to bow to her before they took their leave, leaving Serena alone with the knight.

"The king told us to hurry up." The knight finally opened his mouth, after a long silent.

And with that, the walk down to where Eiravyn currently was began, Serena noticed that the path they were taking looked so unfamiliar and she had never took this path before, they were going in the opposite direction, away from the main floor that had Serena in suprise.

She was finding it hard to keep up with the knight fast pace, and struggled to walk with the heels she was wearing, Serena turned back and spoke impatiently.

"Can we please slow down for a second? I need to catch my breath."

The situation looked ridiculous to anyone seeing or hearing this because Serena was the one at the front while the warrior was at her back, if one would see this they would probably laugh at the irony. They would probably think Serena had the upper hand and could easily decide to slow down but because of how bulky and how rushed the man was acting, Serena subconsciously found herself walking fast even though she was at the front and the knight was two step behind her.
