Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 25 - 26: Strong Girl
Zhang Meilan and Tang De were also taken aback. The aura that young man had just displayed wasn’t something an ordinary person could possess; he was like a fierce tiger.
Qin Long is definitely not as simple as he seems. Zhang Meilan recalled the sight of Qin Long beating up Tang Yuxiang, a wave of immense satisfaction washing over her.
「Banquet Hall.」
The members of the Tang family all sat down quietly. Old Master Tang sat at the main table, his face beaming as if a major celebration was about to take place. However, when he saw Tang Xuewu, his expression immediately soured. He put his teacup down, clearly displeased. This was supposed to be a joyous occasion, and he wouldn’t let Tang Xuewu’s family ruin it.
"Descendants of the Tang family, I have a great announcement to make today!" Old Master Tang declared. "The Yaolong Group is about to sign a huge order with us. The rise of the Tang family is imminent! This is all thanks to Tang Chuchu and Tang Yuxiang; they’ve worked very hard."
Upon hearing this, everyone began showering Tang Chuchu and her brother with compliments. This was the Zhao family’s Yaolong Group, a corporate behemoth in Jiang City. Now that they had secured such a large order, profits in the hundreds of millions were practically guaranteed. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"In a little while, Manager Wu from the Yaolong Group will personally come to sign the final contract with us. Therefore, today’s banquet is a celebration of this great event!"
Old Master Tang led the first toast, and the hall immediately erupted in cheers.
Tang Chuchu held her head high, as poised as a white swan. Nearby, Tang Yuxiang glared venomously at Qin Long while dabbing his wounds with medicinal liniment.
Tang Chuchu answered a call and then announced calmly, "Manager Wu is almost here."
"Chuchu and Yuxiang are truly gifted!"
"They even managed to land the deal with the Yaolong Group."
"That’s real strength!"
At these words, most of the relatives began to flatter the pair, though many were cursing them inwardly or seething with jealousy. Outwardly, however, they all appeared incredibly impressed.
Once this major deal was finalized, the siblings’ status would soar. They would likely be groomed as the future heirs! Realizing this, the others quickly seized the opportunity to curry favor.
"Truly, the heavens have blessed the Tang family! I am so very pleased," Old Master Tang said, his voice thick with emotion. "Chuchu and Yuxiang are so outstanding. With them, the Tang family is sure to reclaim its former glory."
Old Master Tang stood up, raising his glass again, visibly thrilled. The other family members exchanged glances; the Old Master really intended to groom them as his successors! At this thought, they became even more fawning toward the two siblings.
"Respected uncles, this is simply what I should do!" Tang Chuchu said earnestly. "As a descendant of the Tang family, and with Grandpa doting on me so much, it’s only natural that I do my utmost for our family. People outside say I’m a burden, but I’m not! I will use my abilities to prove that I, Tang Chuchu, am the pride and future of the Tang family!"
She spoke with such sincerity that tears began to well in her eyes, making it look as though she had suffered a great injustice and been deeply misunderstood.
"Princess Chuchu, you’re too modest! You’re the perfect combination of beauty and ability!" one relative gushed. "Hearing you say that, what are the *real* burdens supposed to think? It just feels so unfair. Back in the day, the Tang family was a prominent house in Jiang City. It’s only because a certain someone took in a cripple that we fell to our current state."
Damn it, she still managed to sling mud at Tang Xuewu and Qin Long. What a sneaky little trick.
Tang Xuewu lowered her head, aggrieved, while Qin Long continued to feast on the delicious food before him, completely ignoring the drama.
This Tang Chuchu is such a little bitch! Zhang Meilan cursed inwardly as she ate a shrimp.
At this point, the Tang family members turned their verbal attacks on Tang Xuewu. A wave of mockery and sarcasm washed over her. Even Old Master Tang looked at her and sighed repeatedly.
With everyone adding their two cents, falsehoods turned into accepted facts. They no longer cared whether Tang Xuewu was truly in the wrong; it was all her fault regardless.
"Xuewu, why must you be so delusional?" Old Master Tang said, frowning at her.
"Grandfather, it’s not—"
Just as Tang Xuewu lifted her head to explain, the Old Master held up a hand to stop her.
"Little Wu, you should never have damaged the Tang family’s reputation to help that person in the first place," he said, his tone heavy with disappointment. "Why couldn’t you recognize your mistake sooner? Why are you still wasting time on someone so worthless?"
Old Master Tang still hoped she would marry into a wealthy family and bring glory to the Tangs.
Tang Xuewu was left speechless.
"The phoenix you see might just be a common chicken," Qin Long suddenly said, looking up and staring directly at Old Master Tang. "And what you dismiss as an ant might not be an ant at all."
The hall instantly erupted into an uproar.
"Qin Long, you cripple! How dare you speak to the Old Master like that?"
"Believe it or not, I’ll break your legs!"
"What a heartless and ungrateful dog! The Tang family has fed you all these years!"
In an instant, the hall was filled with furious condemnations aimed at Qin Long. Before, he had just been eating quietly, and everyone had ignored him. But to dare talk back? He would not be spared.
"You’re just a lapdog the Tang family keeps. Why don’t you just shut up and eat your food instead of barking?"
"You get angry when we call you worthless? Then tell us, what have you ever done for the Tang family?"
"Chuchu and Yuxiang have been working day and night to secure this contract, making a great contribution. Not only do you not help, but you even have the audacity to talk back?"
Some of the Tang family members even began to curse at him openly.
"Xuewu, aren’t you going to explain?" Qin Long asked, ignoring the yapping dogs and gently taking her arm. "You know the truth of the matter."
Feeling the warmth from his hand, Tang Xuewu suddenly felt a surge of boldness. She knew that someone was here to protect her, that she was no longer fighting alone. The gentle look in Qin Long’s eyes gave her all the courage she needed.
Tang Xuewu took a deep breath and slowly rose to her feet.
"Respected uncles and elders," she began, her voice steady. "My name is Tang Xuewu. For years, I have dedicated myself to the company. The strategic plan I spent half a year developing was stolen.
"Because of that, I was demoted from director to manager, and then from manager to supervisor. As for that business with the financial integration, you all know better than anyone that I wasn’t the one who put it together.
"I’ve done whatever was asked of me, whether it was my job or not—even fetching coffee and buying lunch for others. And through it all, I, Tang Xuewu, never said a word of complaint.
"I know you all hate me for taking in Qin Long back then, for tarnishing the Tang family’s reputation. That’s why you kicked us out of the main family house and into the outer courtyard. But none of that matters.
"What you cannot do is lie to your own conscience and say that I have made no contribution to this company! The heavens are watching what we do, and at the very least, my conscience is clear. I am more than worthy of my monthly salary of 3,500 yuan.
"I, Tang Xuewu, have earned my pay!"
She clutched Qin Long’s hand, her own palm slick with sweat, but her beautiful eyes radiated an unyielding resolve.
The hall was in an uproar. The members of the Tang family were speechless, because every word Tang Xuewu had said was the truth.
Every single day, Tang Xuewu worked diligently and meticulously. No matter how difficult or tiring the work was, she never complained. But in their eyes, because she had chosen to take care of Qin Long, she had tarnished the family’s reputation.
Within the company’s project groups, Xuewu’s team is known as the ’princelings’ group’ because it’s full of lazy heirs who do no work. And yet, its performance ranks in the top five every single month.
As these thoughts crossed his mind, Qin Long watched the beautiful girl before him finally make her stand.
