Heaven Breaker: SSS Rank Tiger Evolution-Chapter 39: Calamity
The first time I asked the mayor how strong a cultivator was, he said that even the weakest among them was comparable to a demon.
However, they were not warriors and did not possess aura, which put them behind true demons.
During the battle against Vlad, this had also been made evident, as they fell one after another at his hands despite possessing similar power.
But what would happen if a cultivator already as powerful as a calamity possessed aura?
BOOOOM
"Hahaha!" The boy laughed as his lightning exploded again and again across the forest, reducing towering trees to nothing but piles of charcoal.
My initial shock was soon replaced by tactical observation as I felt his aura and the power behind his attacks.
’The aura isn’t that strong, but the attacks are violent like nothing I’ve ever seen.’
"Draw his attention and I’ll kill the boy," Euphy said with a serious expression, sweat running down her forehead.
Her eyes were trembling; terror filled her heart.
She had suddenly been thrown into a battle of life and death, and that put her nerves under extreme pressure.
Taking a deep breath, I ignored the young cultivator’s age for a moment and began to warm my body with flames.
Euphy and I exchanged nods, and then—
WOOOSH
Aura surged forward like a wave, pushing the boy’s fragile aura back into his body as his spells became practically harmless.
"Tsk! Joining forces to compensate for individual weakness—weaklings fighting like weaklings." He kept laughing and then began shaping his own aura, forming a fragile yet effective shield.
BZZ BZZ BZZ
His spells began to grow stronger and stronger, the boy’s eyes taking on a crimson hue as his posture sharpened more and more.
Gritting my teeth, I charged.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
His eyes widened as he saw me closing the distance in mere moments, my paws crashing down on him with a weight comparable to a mountain.
The ground exploded beneath me as he used a movement technique to dodge at the very last instant.
His eyes began to fill with euphoria, and he grinned broadly, feeling challenged.
"Come get me, kitty!"
Lightning exploded in all directions, trying to hit me at point-blank range, and every time it missed by only a millimeter.
Thick sweat ran down his forehead as he was pushed farther and farther back.
My flame-infused claws scraped across his face, burning him.
On the other side of the battlefield, Euphy positioned herself behind a tree, preparing her aura like a ballista while simultaneously readying her bow for a rain of arrows.
However, the lightning was being thrown out randomly, without any regard for the surrounding environment.
The tree Euphy was hiding behind exploded, sending her flying. Even so, she clenched her teeth and stood up once more amid the rain of lightning.
Fear was written all over her face; she looked more and more terrified.
The forest was catching fire.
Meanwhile, I remained focused, my awareness accelerating thanks to legacy consciousness, allowing me to dodge increasingly lethal blows.
"Ferocious, ferocious!" the boy laughed, his body accumulating more and more scars.
Even so, he kept fighting carelessly.
Taking advantage of his relaxation, I performed a feint. The moment he dodged the false strike, his eyes widened as my throat glowed with flames—but for a moment, I hesitated to unleash that attack.
"Damn it!" he shouted, trying to retreat as fast as possible, chaotic lightning being hurled aimlessly all over his body in an attempt to save him from a certain blow.
BOOOM
From afar, Euphy screamed loudly, having been struck by one of the lightning bolts—the attack was clearly violent.
’Even if he’s just a boy, I need to end this!’
Without further hesitation.
Flames engulfed the boy, who still struggled with all his might against the immolating heat, yet could only grit his teeth as he watched himself turn to charcoal.
"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" he screamed desperately while still trying to conjure some spell—but apparently his emotions were far too agitated to control his power.
Even so, he tried to resist to the very end.
And then, suddenly, the sky darkened as silvery lightning crashed heavily down onto where I was, hurling me away.
In a brief glimpse, I saw Euphy fallen, her body completely scorched by lightning—on the brink between life and death.
BANG BANG BANG
Even so, I could barely pay attention to her as my body was hurled against trees and rocks, twisting more and more.
It felt as though all the air had left my lungs when I finally managed to steady myself.
Even so, I quickly stood up and prepared to continue the fight, remembering that the threat had not been eliminated.
From afar, I watched as, in a sudden flash, a man who looked similar to the boy appeared out of absolute nothingness.
"Look at the mess you got yourself into. I should punish you by leaving you like this for at least the next twenty years!"
He said this while looking at the pile of charcoal in front of him, before snorting and taking out a talisman.
Healing descended upon the boy, who slowly began to reform.
I clenched my teeth, my mind rapidly creating more and more plans to deal with the situation.
’No matter what, it’s time to run!’
I immediately ran to Euphy. Her condition was deplorable, but she could still recover if she used her artifacts.
I quickly grabbed her tightly and began running away, using my flames as propulsion.
BOOOM
A lightning bolt struck in front of me in a blinding flash. The man from before appeared, blocking my path—his face serious and cold.
"I won’t forget you," he said as my claws were already coming down on him.
Flames engulfed him from all directions, my heart being pushed to its limit along with my body to produce more and more flames, hotter and hotter.
Primordial Force surged wildly through my body, damaging and destroying me from the inside out.
My flames turned blue as black tears streamed from my seven orifices.
I sacrificed all my energy in that single attack.
In the end, my body was gaunt, my bones clearly visible.
And even so, my opponent merely looked me up and down and brushed the flame off his shoulder.
"Powerful, but you are no match for me," he said in a harsh voice. "Your entire journey up to this point is futile compared to a cultivator. Still, I admit—it’s admirable to see a beast struggle so hard to save someone. It’s noble, it’s beautiful, it’s inspiring."
"Spare her," I said, not even knowing if he could hear me. "Just her, please."
He snorted.
"No. Both of you must die...." He took a step forward toward me, a spell being summoned.
I didn’t even have the strength to sigh anymore. All that remained was acceptance.
I had encountered the wrong enemy, and this was the end.
"Only this way can the new be born," he said, healing both of us.
"Welcome to Lightning Tiger. I’ve heard a lot about you, Kai, and I see none of it was exaggerated—though I do find it strange that such a small cub grew so large." He laughed.
"Oh, and yes, please don’t take it the wrong way about your brother. I hit him very hard on the head."
"Hey, Gravis! Come here and apologize to your older brother!"
