Chapter 86: Chapter 86 - Running away

{Twenty Fold Touch}

A basic curse spell that had been enhanced by his own malice, cast by Kunch. The dark mist rushed at Henry and absorbed into his body. Acting quickly, Henry also rushed toward Kunch. Although he was blinded, he could still hear and remember where Kunch was.

It was halfway through his run when Kunch’s spell landed on Henry’s body.

"Now suffer," exclaimed Kunch, also stepping forward to attack Henry, having already noticed that Henry had gone blind.

But the expected outcome did not occur from the spell. Instead, Henry’s theory activated, and the blinding spell he had cast previously was suppressed. When the two got close, Henry regained his vision and avoided the punch that Kunch casually threw at him—one that was expected to feel like a sword piercing through flesh due to the nature of the spell.

Henry grabbed Kunch by the face before slamming him onto the ground.

Nearby, there was a mining tool that had fallen from the hands of those still screaming on the floor. Picking it up, Henry struck Kunch with it.

Ugh!

Before kunch could react , the tool was thrust into his stomach.

Ugh!

Kunch looked down at his own wound, an expression of disbelief on his face.

"Ha..... ha.... , I kind of expected this outcome the moment I knew you were a theory user," he muttered, blood flowing from both his wound and his mouth.

Letting go of the tool lodged in Kunch, Henry stood up.

"Tell me, what’s the reason for doing all this?" he asked.

"Ha-ha... Don’t you have eyes? Take a good look around," said Kunch.

Just as he said, Henry looked around and saw the mining children dragging out carts full of crystals. But these crystals, unlike others, closely resembled arena crystals.

"You did all this for mere arena crystals? Those children... ones who still don’t know what true pain is, who are supposed to be living their innocent little lives... you put them through hellish suffering just for a crystal that has such little value?"

"How can a human do something so cruel to another human being—much less an innocent child? Don’t you have any morality? Any shame? Any kind of regret for what you’re doing?"

"And on top of all that, to use the weakest among them—those unable to work—as mere food for those inhuman beasts... How... how can you justify something like this? While you are a being just like the rest of us?" he exclaimed, his voice filled with despair, anger, regret, and disbelief.

"Kha-ha-ha, that’s a lot of words from you—but too bad, I don’t care about any of it. But let me tell you something. You asked how we set our minds into doing all this, right? Well, it’s very simple. We were forced to be like this. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"It wasn’t our intention to dig into dark mines and harvest crystals that resemble arena crystals. We all know that if we get caught doing this, every one of us will be sentenced to death. Yet despite that, we still did it. Doesn’t that seem even a little strange to you?" said Kunch.

"We were forced. And do you know who forced us? If you’re curious, I’d be glad to tell you. However, I don’t think you’ll be able to handle the consequences of knowing." he added.

After hearing him, Henry fell silent. He stood alone on the ground, surrounded by the sounds of the others screaming in pain. And among them, Kunch was slowly approaching death.

"Tell me. I’d be glad to know who this sinner is. Once I know, I will personally get rid of him—or her—myself," Henry said firmly.

"It’s the son of the lord of this Awakened City. And you’d better know this—once he finds out one of his mines has been wiped out, he will definitely track you down. Not just you, but everyone even remotely connected to you. He’ll hunt them down like a wolf until you fall into true despair for the loss you’ve caused him. That’s the kind of guy he is—if someone upsets him, he returns it tenfold." said Kunch.

"The city lord’s son..." Even hearing that name gave Henry an oppressive feeling.

"The city lord should be the most powerful person in this city—at least politically. I don’t know how truly powerful this guy is in combat... but thinking about it, no one without considerable strength could be the lord of a city like this." Henry muttered to himself.

Afterward, he looked down at Kunch, who was now taking what was likely the last breath of his life.

"Thank you for the information. You... did you do it all to get revenge on him?" he asked.

"Haha, how foolish you are. Actually, there’s something I didn’t tell you. Just like I said, it was indeed because we were forced that we started doing this work... but as time passed, we actually began to enjoy it.

"Just lying around doing nothing while overworking some random kids I didn’t even know—and getting paid tons of money to do whatever I wanted? That life was addicting. Eventually, we even increased our workload—doing overtime and more and more. In the end, it all became really horrible, but what did we care at that point? We had already become villains."

Kunch suddenly laughed like a madman, and his neck began to glow with a fiery light.

"A restriction?! Oh no... There must have been a curse on him to stop him from revealing the name of the one truly in charge—but he did it anyway to trigger the curse!" Henry realized what was happening and quickly kicked Kunch’s body away.

"Kids! Run! Run away!" he shouted at the children still mining.

They had already noticed the commotion and had seen Henry defeat all the villains. At first, they were confused by his sudden shout—but some among them acted quickly and ran toward Henry—or rather, toward the exit. It didn’t take long for the others to follow behind them.
