Chapter 541: Chapter 541.First ranking battle 2

The moment the duo appeared in the combat arena, it had turned into a large earthen expanse.

Aster was calm. His eyes glowed with an ethereal hue. The ground beneath him seemed to radiate a majestic and dominant feel.

The law of earth.

Suddenly, several dragons made of earth, stretching kilometers, appeared around him. They circled around his figure. The earthen dragons turned to look at Kailen.

Their eyes looked haughty, almost lifelike, as if they looked down on all beings.

Kailen was calm. He didn’t move an inch.

His deep abyss like eyes seemed to suck everything into it. The earthen dragons shot towards him from different directions. Some came from above. Others came from left and right and beneath.

Kailen was like an ant before the approaching earthen dragons.

Many wondered. What the hell was this guy doing.

Suddenly, an ethereal, majestic and void like feeling shrouded the arena.

Then, something unbelievable happened.

The earthen dragons made contact with Kailen. But the moment they made contact with him, what was meant to be the possible outcome of this battle, did not happen.

The void around Kailen seemed to bend unnaturally.

The bodies of the earthen dragons started to morph unnaturally. The void around them started compressing them, as if trying to squeeze them. Their movements even halted for a moment.

Until cracks appeared in the bodies of the creatures. Then, they turned into smithereens.

"Law...of space? Hehehehehehe...no, this... this is not possible."

Aster muttered in disbelief, fear etched on his face.

Many were equally shocked. For a moment, silence reigned across several bleachers.

Then, they started processing what had just happened.

The three special laws, gravity, space and darkness, were so powerful that they allowed you to defeat opponents three levels above you, during a law battle. None of the other laws worked like this. Anyone who had any of these three laws was fearsome.

They came to an understanding.

Since Kailen Darkhaven was at the rank 3 beginner stage Dao level and Aster was at the rank 5 beginner stage Dao level, the battle had been decided before it even began, since he had one of the special laws, the law of space, and could therefore defeat opponents three levels above him.

Kailen Darkhaven was not reckless.

Turns out he had the law of space huh. This guy was a monster.

And his level of comprehension? Did he even need a mentor? Of course, the fact that he comprehended the law of space spoke volumes about his terrifying comprehension abilities. They thought. This was even beyond what several who had comprehended any of the three special laws were capable of, right? No one should have this level of mastery over a law when he was a rank 3 beginner stage Dao level lifeform. It took time and practice to familiarise yourself with your law power. But this fellow was not normal. He had shattered the norm. His mastery of the law of space was too... perfect... flawless.

What sort of special enrollment student was this?

A couple of mentors specializing in the law of space sighed.

Even if they had been allowed to take him in as their mentee, what could they teach him?

Kailen was naturally oblivious to the thoughts of the crowd.

He had a nonchalant expression on his face.

He did not reply to Aster. The fellow did not even have the chance to say another word.

Kailen simply performed some sort of slash-like gesture with his right hand.

At the moment, Aster felt like his head had been hollowed out, separated from the rest of his body by some sort of void.

The audience sucked in breaths of cold air as they watched. They saw a space tear had appeared where Aster’s head was supposed to connect to his neck.

"Is this how I die?" Aster chuckled self-deprecatingly.

That’s right. This was the academy. The weak were trampled on, and the strong thrived.

If only he had been stronger, maybe he could have made a name for himself in the academy and the universe. If there were a next life, then he’d pray that he’d become extremely powerful.

After these thoughts, Aster’s vision blanketed. His head fell across the arena. Blood spluttered everywhere from his headless body. His headless body fell on the ground. He was dead.

The space tear that separated Aster’s head from the rest of his body, had disappeared.

Kailen simply nodded and calmly left the arena, under the quiet gazes of several audience.

[ Congratulations, Kailen Darkhaven, you are currently ranked 200,000 ]

The announcement reverberated in the arena as Kailen’s rank shifted.

Suddenly, those who had placed bets started reacting.

"Hehehe. I won the fucking bet!"

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, I should have trusted my instincts and not listened to your stupid advice!"

"What the hell did I do? Just because I bet on the one who died does not mean you should do the same thing."

"Heh, there’s no cure for regret. Suck it up and hand me my money, else the rune oath we signed will do its work."

"There goes the universe coins I need to purchase a talent enhancing elixir for my breakthrough. I guess I probably have to bully some weak students for some then... sigh."

At the moment, an expression of amusement appeared on the face of someone in the bleachers. A special enrollment student. One who had the law of gravity.

He was watching the space law user who was about to leave the arena after killing the other student.

He was a rank 7 beginner stage Dao level lifeform.

A glint of coldness flashed through his eyes.

This fellow had enrolled in the academy about a year ago as rank 1 beginner stage Dao level lifeform. Thanks to the support of his senior brother, who handed him resources, and his diligence, he had managed to break through the rank 7 beginner stage Dao level in just a year. He only participated in a ranking battle when he first enrolled in the academy. After that, he went on a mission, and just returned to the academy this morning.

He wanted to see if there were any special enrollment students he could get rid of. This was what his senior brother had advised him to do. Threats had to be removed early so that they don’t secure the best mentors in his stead. Although he had a good mentor who had been giving him good guidance concerning the use of his law, he wanted someone better. If another special enrollment prodigy secured that spot, he’d be fucked.

Of course, the senior brother had advised him to only target those he was confident enough he could handle. He could not recklessly go and fight someone stronger than him. The academy only rewards the reckless and stupid with death.

"This guy is remarkable. It’s my first time seeing him or hearing of him. Even though he has the law of space, he’s still weaker than me. I suppose only the law of space makes him special. Let’s get rid of him. Thankfully, I can challenge him, since he is ranked higher than me now due to my absence in the academy for a year, rendering me unable to participate in the ranking battles."

At this moment, he decided to have his ranking battle.
