He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact-Chapter 490. The void she left behind
A few days went by in the twinkle of an eye.
Kailen had returned to the military after he spent some time relaxing in the villa of the Long Hai training Hall.
All his loved ones had been busy with missions and their personal stuff, so they could not meet and catch up. But they had sent him messages to congratulate him on winning the competitions, even though they knew he didn’t really care about it.
Kailen intended to talk to Arrie, Micheal, Lian Yu, Arnold, Everlong, Zarek, and the others about the Dao Enlightenment Academy. Since he could not have a meeting with them, he sent them messages about the place. He didn’t hide anything from them about the selection process.
He knew that they’d definitely want to enroll there. That’s why he told them about it, so that they would be motivated in their training, since the selection event was very gruesome.
As for the information concerning the slot he had obtained, he had received an official notification from the Dao Enlightenment Academy that the slot had been reserved for him. However, as expected, the condition for the slot to be effective was that he gets to the rank 1 beginner stage Dao level before he can enroll into the academy with the slot.
He told them to keep silent about the Dao Enlightenment Academy, since he even had access to information about the academy due to his clearance level as a gold ranked member of the Long Hai training hall.
Concerning the information about the slot he received, he didn’t even mention it to them, because it was something extremely covert. The only person he informed was Arrie. For the others, they would find out about it when the time was right.

Kailen and Boro were currently in Boro’s Villa in the virtual universe.
The two were seated on some sort of traditional mats. The rays of night light peered through the glass windows and cast shadows of their silhouette on the wooden floor.
The aroma of simple noodles wafted in the air.
The old man had prepared the food himself.
It didn’t matter that this was the virtual universe. Reality simulation was almost a hundred percent. So, even meals could be prepared here with ingredients the same way food could be physically prepared in the real world.
"This was your paternal grand mother’s recipe," Boro said.
Kailen’s eyes widened lightly. That’s right. He had never heard anything about his paternal grandmother.
On seeing Kailen’s expression, Boro sighed.
"I suppose you are curious about her. Please, let’s eat, the food is going cold."
Kailen nodded and dug in.
Boro said, "Your paternal grandmother was a very bright and sweet woman. And she was very wonderful"
A hologram of a picture appeared before them.
Kailen stared at the figure. She was a very beautiful woman with a beautiful smile, and she had a very big belly. She was dressed in a long gown that made her look more beautiful.
His paternal grandfather, the one Kailen really resembled and was named after, had placed his hand gently on her belly. It was obvious this picture was taken when his grandmother was pregnant with his father.
Kailen asked a curious question.
"Where is she now, grand uncle? What happened to her?"
Boro sighed. A melancholic expression appeared on his face.
"She died at the hands of some vimodial contractors during a military operation, several years after your father was born. It was a really difficult period for the family. No one could fill the vacuum your grandmother left after she died."
Kailen revealed a trace of sadness in his eyes.
So she died in a way most operatives die during missions huh, at the hands of enemies.
He had initially thought there was also a conspiracy surrounding her death like that of his grandfathers’ and the attempted assassination of his parents. But, that was not the case.
Boro continued, "Your grandfather really did well honestly. Raising your father and Cyrus was not easy for him without her by his side. He was never the same after she died. But he remained strong for his sons and the clan. He did everything he could to give your uncle and your father a good life. But..."
Kailen knew what his granduncle was thinking of.
Cyrus was ungrateful. To the point that he turned on his own father .
"I was not there to help. It drives me crazy all the time," Boro’s voice was full of sadness.
"Had I been there, maybe your grandfather would not have died, and your parents would have still been alive," he added.
Kailen understood the reasoning of his grand uncle. He would not know how he would feel in a similar situation.
"When I heard the news, it was too late. I was on a mission at the time, stabilizing a sector teeming with vimodial contractors. Network signals and every iota of communication was cut off due to space storms," he added. "I returned back to HQ recently, and received the news of everything that had transpired, from Cyrus’ ill deeds to your revenge."
Kailen mused inwardly.
"Looks like what the Time Dilation Artifact said was on point. Grand uncle was not in a place where he could even intervene.
Granduncle must have been really shocked to receive all this news at once. Also, he’s not lying to me."
"It’s not your fault, grand uncle."
Kailen was not trying to comfort the man. It was the truth. Boro’s circumstances simply made it impossible for him to do anything about the situation.
The man revealed an expression of warmth on his face.
"You really think so?"
"It’s not a matter of what I think. That’s the truth."
Kailen nodded warmly.
"It means a lot coming from you, grand nephew."
"You are welcome."
"Let’s eat, grand uncle."
"Ah, I almost ruined your appetite didn’t I?"
"It’s no worries. Food should not be wasted, and besides, you are a pretty great chef."
"Hehe. You have such a glib tongue, kid."
