He Ate a Divine Dragon-Chapter 489 - 487 Grief
A piercing sound tore through the air, heading straight for him. It was a stone, no bigger than a fingernail, hurtling savagely toward Shang Tuo.
Shang Tuo's master's expression darkened. Acting as if he were facing a formidable enemy, he threw the Xuantian Needle from his hand.
DING!!!
The sound of metal clashing reached everyone's ears. The small stone was completely shattered by the Xuantian Needle, but the needle didn't stop. It continued on its path, whistling through the air as it hurtled toward Lin Xiao.
This old fiend is truly vicious. He not only shattered the stone aimed at Shang Tuo but could also attack me at the same time. Truly a case of killing two birds with one stone!
But Lin Xiao wasn't flustered, because he knew who had just thrown the stone.
When the Xuantian Needle was about to hit Lin Xiao's head, it was deftly caught between two fingers.
Lin Xiao turned to look at the hand's owner. An extraordinarily distinguished face came into view.
Taking the Xuantian Needle, Lin Xiao smiled. "First Master, long time no see!"
Indeed, the newcomer was none other than Lin Xiao's First Master.
The old man nodded. "Are you alright?"
Lin Xiao smiled. "I'm fine. What brings you here?"
"Your Third Master said he was here, so I came," the First Master said, pointing at Shang Tuo's master.
"Oh? You know each other?" Lin Xiao asked curiously.
The First Master snorted coldly. "Know each other? Liu Xingguo, it's been a long time!"
Shang Tuo's master didn't speak, but his murky eyes stared venomously at Lin Xiao's First Master.
Suddenly, he swung his arm, and countless chilling glints of light shot toward Lin Xiao.
"Be careful!" the First Master shouted. In the same instant, he moved to shield Lin Xiao. With a single wave of his sleeve, the chilling glints of light were sent flying.
But what no one expected was that in the same moment Liu Xingguo launched his attack, he snatched Shang Tuo, leaped into the air, and vaulted out of the villa.
"Trash!" the First Master spat coldly.
Lin Xiao said nothing, quickly stepping into the villa and began searching for Su Qingning and Shen Jingzhe. Soon, the faint breathing of two people reached his ears.
Lin Xiao sprinted upstairs. Pushing open the door, he saw Su Qingning and Shen Jingzhe. They had both been knocked unconscious and were lying on the bed. Fortunately, their clothes were intact, and Lin Xiao breathed a sigh of relief.
He took a few steps forward and checked Su Qingning's pulse. The problem wasn't severe; she had just been knocked out. However, just as he was about to let go, his brow furrowed slightly.
Yes, the poison in Su Qingning's body has gotten much worse. It's almost time for it to break out of its cocoon. If I don't treat her soon, it'll be too late.
Lin Xiao desperately wanted to treat her right then and there, but a thought made him reconsider. He inserted a Xuantian Needle into each of their foreheads.
A moment later, they both slowly opened their eyes.
The moment Su Qingning saw Lin Xiao, she threw herself into his arms without a second thought. "Husband, you're finally back!" Her voice trembled with a sob.
"I'm sorry I let you suffer," Lin Xiao said, hugging her tightly. He knew her trembling was from fear.
Su Qingning didn't say anything more, simply burying her face in his chest and beginning to weep. Lin Xiao remained silent, just holding her quietly. Su Qingning was always strong. She wouldn't cry like this unless she had been truly wronged and terrified.
Fortunately, her emotions stabilized after a while, and Lin Xiao let her go.
Lin Xiao glanced at Shen Jingzhe, whose face was completely expressionless. "Are you all right?" he asked.
"I'm fine," Shen Jingzhe replied with a nod.
"Let's go. We'll head home first."
Shen Jingzhe nodded again. Lin Xiao carried Su Qingning downstairs, with Shen Jingzhe following closely behind.
Just as they left the villa, Lin Xiao noticed something. He had expected his First Master to still be there, but the large courtyard was empty, not a soul in sight. His First Master was gone. Lin Xiao didn't dwell on it. After all, his top priority was to calm the two women down.
After returning to their own villa, Lin Xiao placed Su Qingning on the sofa. He then asked Shen Jingzhe, "What exactly happened?"
Shen Jingzhe calmly recounted, "Shang Tuo came knocking, saying he was looking for you. I told him you weren't here and thought he would leave, but he forced his way in. I was worried he had bad intentions toward Qingning, so I prepared to fight. But then his master appeared. To my shame, I was no match for him. After he defeated me, he used me as a hostage to threaten Qingning. They brought us both to that other villa and then knocked us out. The next thing I knew, I woke up and saw you."
Her tone was eerily calm, as if she were recounting a story that had nothing to do with her. But Lin Xiao could see the emotions churning deep in her eyes—a chilling fury.
Lin Xiao knew Shen Jingzhe was enraged.
"Don't worry," Lin Xiao said solemnly. "I will make them pay for what they did to you today." His words were meant to comfort Shen Jingzhe, but they were aimed even more at Su Qingning.
The two women nodded in unison.
After offering a few more words of comfort, Lin Xiao carried Su Qingning back to her room. Su Qingning wanted to walk on her own, but Lin Xiao didn't give her the chance. She stopped struggling.
To be honest, she liked being held in his arms. It was incredibly comforting.
Once back in the room, Lin Xiao placed her on the bed and then lay down beside her. Su Qingning instinctively snuggled into his embrace, and he held her tightly.
He asked softly, "Do you still feel bad?"
Su Qingning shook her head and said, "Much better!"
"That's good. Oh, by the way, your uncle has been arrested!"
Su Qingning suddenly sat up, her charming eyes flying wide with shock. Staring at Lin Xiao in astonishment, she heard him ask with a small smile, "Surprised?"
She nodded.
"Don't be surprised," Lin Xiao explained. "The police interrogated his nephew, and the boy confessed everything. He said the arson was ordered by your uncle, so they arrested him."
Su Qingning had thought she would be happy to hear this news. After all, her uncle had been so cruel. But now, she felt no joy at all. In fact, a wave of sadness washed over her. A perfectly good family had been torn apart.
Lin Xiao continued, "Su Qingkun had it even worse!"
"What happened to him?" Su Qingning asked quickly.
"He couldn't handle the shock and went mad!"
"What? He went mad?" Su Qingning was stunned speechless.
Lin Xiao nodded. "Yes, mad."
Su Qingning fell completely silent. Her eyes stared blankly out the window, her thoughts a mystery. Lin Xiao didn't speak either.
After what felt like a long time, Su Qingning heaved a heavy sigh. She murmured to herself, "Why did it have to be like this?"
"They reaped what they sowed," Lin Xiao said gently. "If they hadn't been so cruel to you from the start, if they hadn't done all those hateful things, it never would have come to this. Darling, you don't need to feel sad. Everyone has to pay the price for their choices. They chose this path themselves; no one else is to blame."
Su Qingning nodded obediently. Although she didn't say anything more, it was clear she was deeply saddened by the fate of her uncle and Su Qingkun.
"Oh, by the way, there's more bad news I have to tell you."
"What bad news?" Su Qingning asked anxiously.
