He Ate a Divine Dragon-Chapter 478 - 476: Meeting the Superior
Wang Shicheng was sixty years old. He had reached the age where a man should understand his destiny. It had been exactly twenty years since he took over the Wang Family, and in that time, he had always lived a high-profile life.
He certainly had the right to be arrogant. This was not just due to the standing of the Wang Corporate Group in Jinhai City, or even the entire Jiuzhou business world. Nor was it because of the positions the Wang family's scions held in the various major powers across Jiuzhou. Wang Shicheng's own youthful experiences were more than enough to justify his ostentatious behavior. One might say such a life was divine. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
But recently, Wang Shicheng had been very unhappy, and the reason was a man named Lin Xiao. This person had brazenly killed a scion of the Wang Family, an act so heinous it angered both gods and men. In response, Wang Shicheng had summoned all the family's offspring back with the sole purpose of killing Lin Xiao.
However, when Wang Jingxiu returned from Jinling City last night, he repeatedly urged him to abandon the idea of opposing Lin Xiao. This infuriated Wang Shicheng. As a standout member of the younger generation, Wang Shicheng had high hopes for Wang Jingxiu. To see him boost another's prestige at the expense of his own family's was infuriating. Still, recognizing his past accomplishments, Wang Shicheng demanded a reason.
Wang Jingxiu told him that Lin Xiao possessed the Alliance Leader's Command of the Martial Alliance.
This revelation sent a shockwave not only through Wang Shicheng but the entire Wang Family. It was no laughing matter. The Alliance Leader's Command held the power of life and death. If Lin Xiao truly possessed it, then opposing him would be utter folly.
But soon, a family member raised an objection, suggesting the token might be a fake. The dissenter was Wang Jingyue, a disciple of the Wang Family who was currently a member of the Shura Hall. When Wang Shicheng asked for his reasoning, Wang Jingyue claimed that Lin Xiao was nothing but a filthy beggar; how could the Alliance Leader's Command possibly fall into his hands? If he truly held such authority, why would he need to disguise himself as a beggar?
Wang Shicheng thought this made a great deal of sense, as did the rest of the Wang Family. Even Wang Jingxiu began to doubt the authenticity of Lin Xiao's token. However, he then recalled Lin Xiao's formidable cultivation—a single slap from him had nearly been fatal.
Wang Jingyue immediately scoffed at this. With a sneer, he said the only reason a single slap nearly killed him was because his own cultivation was trash. Wang Jingxiu was left speechless. He couldn't argue; Wang Jingyue's cultivation was indeed superior to his.
And so, after a discussion last night, the Wang Family decided to stand firm against Lin Xiao. Kneeling was not an option. This was why, when Lin Xiao arrived at the Wang Family estate, he saw no one on their knees.
The sound of disordered footsteps reached Lin Xiao's ears. A moment later, an elder leading a group of more than a dozen young men in their twenties and thirties surged menacingly toward the entrance. Lin Xiao recognized the man in the lead at a glance; it was none other than Wang Shicheng, the current head of the Wang Family.
"Where did this dog come from, daring to cause trouble at our Wang Family? You must be tired of living!" a young man bellowed.
This was none other than Wang Jingyue of the Shura Hall, currently the most prominent youth of the Wang Family's new generation. His status was undeniable, as his talent and cultivation were the highest in the entire family.
Bei Kuang shot him a condescending glance. "State your name. I do not kill the nameless!"
"Fuck you, old fart! Listen up, my name is Wang Jingyue, and I'm from the Shura Hall! You fucking touch me and see what happens! I'm telling you now, touching me is the same as making an enemy of the entire Shura Hall!"
Wang Jingyue was incredibly arrogant, but he had the backing to be so. Leaving aside the Wang Family's standing in Jinling City, the Shura Hall alone—one of the four great sects with formidable influence in the martial world—gave him the confidence to be this brazen.
Bei Kuang sneered. In the next instant, he flicked his finger. A pebble the size of a date pit shot toward Wang Jingyue like a bolt of lightning.
Wang Jingyue let out a disdainful scoff and reached out to catch it. But just as he opened his palm, the pebble whizzed past and pierced straight through it.
He froze for a moment, then let out a bloodcurdling scream as shrill as a pig being slaughtered. Looking down at his hand, he saw a clean, bloody hole right through its center.
The scene stunned the members of the Wang Family. Who could have imagined that this gaunt old man possessed such terrifying power and could be so ruthless?
Bei Kuang casually swept his gaze over the crowd. "Who else?" he asked disdainfully.
The entire Wang Family fell silent. Although there were disciples from several other major sects present, none had a cultivation level higher than Wang Jingyue's. Since even he was no match for this old man, stepping forward would only lead to their own humiliation.
Seeing that no one from the Wang Family uttered a word or dared to step up, Bei Kuang's eyes filled with even greater contempt. "What, has the great Wang Family been reduced to a pack of cowards with no one who dares to stand up?"
This was blatant humiliation. Wang Shicheng's face flushed with anger, and he took a sudden step forward. "May I ask for your honorable name, sir?"
"You are not worthy of knowing my name," Bei Kuang stated indifferently.
Wang Shicheng snorted. "Are you here representing that stinking beggar, Lin Xiao?"
"First, Lin Xiao is not a stinking beggar. Second, apologize."
Wang Shicheng let out a cold laugh. "And if I refuse?"
"Then I will beat you until you do."
"Fine! Then you just try it!" Wang Shicheng said viciously.
"Oh, a threat?"
As soon as the words left Bei Kuang's mouth, his figure flickered and reappeared directly in front of Wang Shicheng. Wang Shicheng was startled, but before he could react, Bei Kuang's heavy hand smacked him squarely across the head.
The resounding crack sent a shockwave of disbelief through the younger disciples. Wang Shicheng was the head of the Wang Family, a man who held a pivotal position in the business world of Jinhai City. Everywhere he went, people addressed him respectfully as Mr. Wang. Yet now, he had just been struck by an old man, and struck so mercilessly.
While everyone was still frozen in shock, Bei Kuang's cold voice cut through the silence. "I'll say it one last time. Kneel and apologize."
Wang Shicheng's face was ashen as he glared at Bei Kuang. "In your dreams! If you have the guts, then kill me!"
Bei Kuang began to sneer. "Do you really think I wouldn't dare? Twenty years ago, when I campaigned across the lands with the Dragon Alliance Hierarch, I killed countless men. What makes you think you're special? You think I wouldn't dare?"
At these words, Wang Shicheng's expression changed dramatically. He began to tremble as he asked, "You… you are from the Dragon Alliance? What is your name?"
Bei Kuang looked down on him with utter disdain. "What are you getting at?"
"Answer me!" Wang Shicheng demanded, unable to hide his agitation.
Bei Kuang's voice was like ice. "Bei Kuang."
The name hit Wang Shicheng like a thunderbolt, freezing him on the spot. His face turned deathly pale. The next second, he suddenly collapsed to his knees and spoke in a quavering voice.
"Wang Shicheng, logistics member of the Dragon Alliance, number one hundred and seven, kneels before Lord Bei Kuang!"
