HDXD: Omni Harem System-Chapter 109: Season Finale VIII
Chapter 109: Season Finale VIII
Adam landed back where he started, claws skimming the ground in a skid that cracked the stone beneath his feet.
The wind howled in his ears, catching up with him several seconds late, just like the shockwave, which slammed through the corridor in a delayed boom, shuddering the ruined court like a collapsing lung.
"Damn... that is probablly the fastest I have ever travelled on my own."
Said Adam as he made a quick stop at the same place where he had left. From there, he then asked.
"So, System, how fast was I going?"
『Current speed recorded: 2,730 miles per hour. That translates to Mach 3.57』
Adam let out a low whistle, brushing back a strand of black hair that had fallen into his eyes.
"Damn."
He muttered, a grin appearing at the edge of his lips.
"That’s fast. Like, crazy fast for someone at my level, if you take my prior physical feats into consideration."
Said Adam as he took a breath, the Monster energy still simmering throughout his body like a barely-contained fire. His heart pounded steadily, but his body didn’t feel strained.
Not even close.
The partial transformation was a success.
Strength? Check.
Speed? Double check.
Control? Not perfect, but getting there.
Satisfied, he exhaled deeply, then turned toward the real reason he came here, his eyes looking at the red light in the distance from which he originally came.
"It’s about time I take Nyla home... as for Kaguya, well, I place my trust in Nyx, I only hope she follows true."
With a flicker of movement, he vanished again, but not as fast as before. Just enough to move faster than a blur, a ghost slipping through the crumbling bones and stones of the ancient prison.
In less than a quick blink, he was already at the source of the light.
As he arrived at the cell Nyla was being imprisoned, after Casimir took her.
The scene hadn’t changed from when he last passed her earlier when testing his speed. freēwēbnovel.com
She stood in the center of a glowing red magic circle, unmoving, frozen mid-step. Red hair cascading over her torn kimono, her cat ears stiff in the air, and those silver eyes locked on the front. All sense of self and being was untouched by the world around her as a result of Morgan’s time stop.
The air around her shimmered with magic, the Astrum was thick as it was oddly unnatural. Weird enough, this spell, by whoever the caster was, still remained active, and the spell was not being affected by Morgan’s own spell, which was kind of an anti-magic spell as well.
The color wasn’t a normal red.
Rather Scarlet Amaranth... This told Adam that this spell was unique and not from the common elemental spells.
"A unique spirit, eh?"
He said to himself, as he was looking at and analyzing the magic circle from start to finish at a quick rate. He knew some of the spirit language being used, but others, just like Morgan,s were new to him.
But the Gates of Magic made him a genius when it comes to all things magic; what he doesn’t know, he instantly knows after seeing them once. As a result, this language program that codes the spell into being poses zero difficulty at all.
He didn’t need to know the name to understand what it meant...he could feel it.
Pairing up with his monster instincts just made his observation all the more accurate.
Right after his foot brushed the edge of the circle. The spell’s framework hit him like a punch to the head.
It unraveled into his mind all at once, the language of magic folding like origami in reverse, revealing its cruel truth.
His eyes widened as he said.
"Jesus Christ... what a fucked up spell... was this really nesecarry to trap a girl as weak as her?"
Adam questioned in disbelief at the cruelty the caster imposed upon Nyla to prevent her escape.
The spell itself was a unique one, and a high-tier one at that, but it was also a grotesquely specific piece of spellwork, its logic twisted with malicious intent for sure, for what it was, it was simple.
This magic spell was best described as insect-based magic.
This wasn’t meant to kill the target.
It was meant to unmake them... or rather sealed them in place, using a rather fucked up function.
It was grotesque in a lot of ways.
"To think this spell...
He paused, then continued.
"... can turn people into maggots."
He clenched his jaw, the words tasting sour in his mouth.
"Buckets worth of them to be precise, but it also makes the transform immortal... and insane... while also sane at the same time... but most of all canablistic as the transform maggots eat themselves... but since they can’t die. Regenerating is their only fate as the inflicted is still conscious as they eat and consume each other. During that process, they will feel all of the pain of their own undoing for five minutes straight. What makes this even worse it only activates if you try to leave this circle."
Adam said out aloud, as his stomach twisted at the mere thought of it...not out of fear, but fury that something this cruel was used on Nyla.
Whoever designed this most defintley had to have some screw loose, or a dark sense of humor.
He thought to himself.
Adam then looked back at Nyla’s frozen figure.
Her small body, so still, and so unaware.
But going back to the worst part of all of this.
"How is this magic still active, though?"
Morgan’s spell should have wiped this clean... yet this remains.
The magic in this entire prison was under the effects of her 11 kingdom array, which had codes of recursive nullification that stripped spells down to their core until nothing functional remained. Even high-tier magic should’ve collapsed in on itself here.
Yet this remained.
Fully intact.
Adam’s eyes narrowed, mind racing as he said to himself, a worried look appearing on his face.
"This shouldn’t be possible...
"So how is the caster doing this... unless they had information on the target beforehand... but still... how do you prep for a magic like Morgan 11 Kingdome Array so easily."
He stepped closer, reaching out toward the glowing runes with his clawed fingers, watching as they shimmered in defiance of the suppression field. Like they didn’t care that the rest of the world was dead magic.
"How are you still active?"
『...Could be a Lore ability』
The System said, as she tries to suggest her own theory here.
"So it’s not using Astrum... but a lore ability, ha? That does make sense, sigh... this is going to be a pain in the ass for sure."
He paused.
"Should I warn Morgan about this?"
Adam said to himself, wondering if he should warn both Nyx and Morgan about the potential danger. However, the System had other plans as she suggested.
『Even if you did, it would not change the result... besides that woman name Nyx... She is just as strong as Yarquella, and together it is an unfair match-up, unless some unique variable changes that outcome』
"Hmmm... I see... Yeah, you do make a fair point here as well... I am just a kid, so exposing myself to a battle between monsters like those two and Yarquella is suicidal, and I will probably be nothing more than a liability anyway."
Adam bluntly admitted.
『For now, escaping with Nyla is your safest option』
"Yeah... Well then, let’s get her out of here, and from there we will use my newly acquired space magic to get us all out of here... I am sure Morgan and Nyx can easily handle themselves."
With those words said, Adam reached out to the circle. His body was turning into maggots, but he was resisting the magic quite easily. Either way, he used attributeless magic and overwrote the source code.
As a result, the circle went transparent as the effect lost its meaning.
"Done...
He said, as he grabbed Nyla and carried her time-stopped body into a princess carry.
"Well then, I will meet up with Clara... We did agree to meet up in the same place where we split up."
As such, Adam extends his hands outwards as he begins to use the Spatial Rift spell, and a purple magic circle forms, bending space, then bored a hole through it, revealing the same place both he and Clara originally were.
Without saying anything else, he walked through the portal, and the moment he did, it closed behind him. He found himself in the same spot where those vampires were entertaining themselves, all of whom were still trapped in time.
Adam looked left... then right...but no sign of Clara could have been seen.
"I guess she is still searching."
Said Adam as a memory appeared in his head.
"Ohh yeah... she did say make a loud enough noise to summon her."
With that in mind, hundreds of silver magic circles form, as his black wings manifest, and swarm around the invisible air spears.
"Might as well kill all these vampires while I am at it as well."
