Chapter 107: Season Finale VI
The moment his corruption flowed into her, it was like setting a fire to dry leaves.
The change was immediate.
The air around them thickened with power as the serpent’s body arched, luminous veins of brilliant azure red running beneath her scaled skin like glowing rivers.
The chamber trembled with the sheer volume of corruption surging through her. Her eyes widened, the deep amber shifting into molten gold, and a sharp, echoing hiss tore through the silence...less of a cry and more of a release, like a dam finally breaking.
She coiled tighter, not in defense, but necessity.
Her body was reacting violently to the sudden overflow of Monster Energy, enough to birth the child not once, but threefold. And enough, Adam realized with a small jolt of awe, that she needed to survive several battles in tiers leagues above her current strength if pushed came to shove.
Whatever limits she had known...for the moment had been surpassed.
The child, too, inside her, responded to the flow.
No longer dormant, no longer on the knife’s edge of life and death, it stirred gently at first.
Then more fiercely.
Adam felt it in the seal on her belly: a small vibration, like a second heartbeat, steady and strong.
The serpent stilled, a slow coil of satisfaction running through her as her head lowered near Adam’s level once more.
Her desires flowed through him, as she said.
"Life... assured."
She whispered in her fractured speech, breathless and reverent.
"She... awakens soon."
Adam nodded, folding his arms.
"So... you’re about to be a mom, huh? Well, I am glad I was able to help."
She paused, her tongue hissing at the air thoughtfully before answering.
"Not mom, but incubator... however, will birth soon... must find safe place. Old... birthing den... hidden beneath ruins."
Adam gave her space, sensing this moment was sacred. But before she turned, her eyes locked on his, unwavering.
"You... father."
She said.
"Excuse me?"
He blinked.
She tilted her head.
"Legacy... demands name. You... as Surrogate Father... must name kin."
"Surrogate Father."
He echoed, half amused, half confused, but initially surprised as he jokingly said.
"Sounds more like I got roped into a joint custody agreement here."
She didn’t understand the joke.
But she waited.
Adam exhaled, running a hand through his hair once again. He thought of her ancient memories.
Her long years.
The bloodline they shared.
And the fire burning now within her unborn child.
His thoughts wandered toward his old worlds, and seeing this place was basically Aztec inspired, he looked at the ceiling, then back at the serpent, and an idea formed in his head, as he looked at the child and said.
"Quetzalcoatl."
She blinked.
Adam continued.
"That’ll be the kid’s name. Quetzalcoatl.... Fitting, don’t you think?"
The serpent gave a low, musical hiss that vibrated through the stone. Not laughter, but joy. Deep and full.
"Name... accepted... I must give birth to this child safely."
With that, she began to move, ready to leave.
But then she paused again.
"Oh right... almost forgot... Must give offering."
Her body shuddered slightly, her coils unwrapping as her small, clawed hands reached forward. She extended one finger, long and inky black...before her claw shifted into a strange shade of blue, glowing faintly.
Adam’s brow furrowed at the sight of the detached claw.
"What’s that?"
He asked.
"Offering."
She said.
"Venom... sacred. My DNA. Give... to chosen... Create your personal Metahuman."
"Chosen?"
He echoed, stepping closer to receive it.
"You mean this thing can turn someone into a Spawn?"
She nodded slowly.
"Mulcian venom. My kind is extremely fertile. Bestow on one you trust. They... become half-blood. New monster upon reaching their 6 evolution. A servant...capable of procreation... of holding your children, if such time comes."
Adam stared at the fang now resting in her palm. It was wickedly curved, translucent, and still faintly wet with some glowing fluid that shimmered unnaturally. His stomach turned, but curiosity kept him rooted.
"And this won’t, like... kill someone?"
"Pain... yes. Death... no. Only one may receive it. Chosen must be strong... or... Monsterfication is highly possible."
"I see."
Said Adam as he reached out and took it, holding the curved fang between two fingers. It was warm... Too warm.
"Great... No pressure then, thanks for the offering."
He muttered.
"Guess I’ll hold onto it. Who knows when I’ll need to gift someone a fertility upgrade?"
The serpent did not laugh, but her eyes gleamed.
They both knew: things like this always came with a price... or a purpose.
She turned at last, body slinking back into the deeper dark, but Adam called out just as her form began to blur into shadow.
"Wait."
She stopped.
"You don’t have a name... do you?"
A moment of silence.
Then a small shake of her head.
Adam shrugged.
"Well, I can’t just keep calling you snake lady, or nameless serpent... At the very least, you deserve something more than just random titles on the spot."
He paused, thinking again of the feelings she’d shared...the loneliness, the longing, the desire to protect and preserve the child.
Then he looked at her, raising his finger up, and said.
"Mio... Mion Adam"
He said casually.
"From here on out, your name is Mion."
She turned back toward him, just enough for her eyes to meet his again.
"Mion Adam."
"It’s my family name, it doesn’t mean anything now, but couple years from now, that name will strike fear into the hearts of many, think of it as gift to protect that child in the long run, and yourself included, I would feel bad knowing something I have help to birth just dies a fool death behind my back."
She repeated, as if tasting the word.
Her eyes softened.
Gratitude radiated from her so clearly that it felt like warmth against his skin.
"Yes, Mion... It’s not much, but it is simple to remember."
However, it might not be a big deal to Adam, but he had no idea what he had just down in this moment.
Because the moment he did that, a massive amount of his own Monster energy escaped his body, enough to power an entire star system for millions of years.
"...What the...
Adam said in shock, as horrific and terrifying energy escaped his being, his corruption manifesting from his cells, and it flowed within Mion’s body. The sheer volume of it was almost too much to handle. However, it remained dormant within her and was locked into her DNA as her body tried to regulate it slowly.
It will take decades to fully absorb the energy, half that if she goes into hibernation.
Adam was confused as to what the hell just happened, to which Mion then said.
"Same blood... same lineage... we are compatible.... your quality is superior and vast when compared to mine inferior quality and quantity... but we are family, even closer now... Thank you... Will repay a million times over in the future."
"Gift... accepted. I am Mion."
Again, Adam didn’t understand the full scope of what he had just accidently done, but had a general idea, however, he tried not to think too deeply into it.
For that reason, his reply was as such.
"I am glad to help, I won’t hold you now."
Adam smiled.
"Now go protect that kid. We’re officially family now, aren’t we? I would hate to see my daughter perishing, so take good care of it."
Mion nodded slowly.
Then her gaze turned distant.
Her body tensed.
"Girl... you seek."
She said softly, taking Adam by surprise.
"Waits... at prison’s end... in this place... Bye now."
"Nyla."
Adam muttered under his breath.
Meanwhile, Mion began to disappear again, body coiling back into the darkness from which she came.
Her glow faded.
Her presence thinned like mist.
And soon, she was gone.
Adam remained alone in the ancient hall, the fang in his palm glowing softly. He turned it over once, then tucked it away into his coat pocket, deep and secure.
He stood there a moment longer.
As he processed this insane night, as he said.
"Is this what monster life is about... randomly becoming a father at the age of 5."
With that, he turned back toward the path Mion had pointed toward, the direction of the final gate.
The direction where Nyla was waiting.
As such, he began to walk towards it.
The ball court stretched out before Adam.
The court itself had been converted into a makeshift corridor with countless cells, so finding Nyla here would not be hard if he checked each cell door, and time remained still here, locked in Morgan’s cruel grip, giving him more than enough time to search.
But as he walked, he could not help but think about his earlier encounter with Mion, the warmth of the fang now resting securely in his coat a steady reminder.
"Monsters are such weird creatures, yet so interesting, I really want to study them, and find out more about them as I go along. Although who the hell am I going to give this fang to?"
He thought to himself.
As he passed a massive stone ring embedded in the wall, one of the ancient hoops once used in blood-sport games, now cracked and moss-ridden.
The ball court’s ceremonial design had been fused with the prison’s architecture, its circular symmetry distorted by years of corrosion.
But as he goes along, his eyes soon take notice of a light that was frozen still in time.
"Hmm... Sniff me, oh my... so that is where you are... these werewolf senses are so useful... thank god I remember your scent."
