Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 159: Mine
Audrey stood up and looked at Lake with wide eyes.
"What did you mean he’s your son too?" she asked, looking from Lake to Andrew.
Lake sounded at her, "How else would he be my son, Miss Audrey?" Lake asked mysteriously.
Audrey would go crazy in the next second if no one told her that this was all a joke.
"Mom, don’t be mad, I asked him to be my dad since I don’t have one... I like him a lot and I don’t want him to be just a friend to me... I’m sorry I didn’t tell you again," Mikhail walked up to Audrey and hugged her leg.
Audrey didn’t know how when a sob escaped her lips; she immediately crouched down and hugged her son, hiding her face in his neck.
"Oh, Mikhail... I’m so sorry," she whispered.
She knew her son was lonely, but she never knew to what extent.
No matter how much time she tried to spend with Mikhail, she knew that no amount of time could cover the absence of a father in the boy’s life.
It was all her fault; she was making her son witness the same abandonment she experienced growing up, and it hurt so much that she couldn’t do anything about it.
"It’s okay, honey, I’m not angry, I’m just... just surprised. Do you really want him to be your daddy?" Audrey wiped her tears with her sleeve and stared at her son’s face.
Mikhail nodded vigorously, "Yes, will you allow it?" he asked expectantly.
Audrey nodded, "He can be your daddy, baby," She kissed his cheek and stood, sniffing.
The poor boy didn’t know that the person he was claiming as his adopted daddy was his real daddy.
She wished she could tell him that, but she wouldn’t; it was too dangerous; it was better he lived believing that Lake was his fake daddy than learning that he was his real father and then ending up losing him due to the curse.
She can’t have that; she wouldn’t break her son’s heart that way.
"She says you can be my father, Lake," Mikhail happily went over to Lake, holding his hands.
Lake smiled at him, "I heard that, buddy. Anything else you want to play?" Lake asked softly.
"Umm, I want to go over there," Mikhail pointed at the roller coaster.
Audrey chuckled; she knew that he would pick that; it was one of his favorites.
Andrew was observing the three families from the side, smiling secretly but at the same time feeling bad for them.
They were a family, yet they couldn’t be together. His heart melted for the boy whose wolf, although not properly developed, could still sense that Lake was his father.
He had fate, just like the crazy fate he had when he had foolishly left Audrey to die years ago. He had somehow believed that she would survive, and she did. Now, he believed a miracle would happen and in the end, Audrey, Lake, and Mikhail would live together as the happy family they should be.
"Go with Andrew, he loves roller coasters," Audrey gently pushed Mikhail toward Andrew.
’No, I hate roller coasters,’ He denied internally but wore a bright smile on his face as he took the boy’s hand.
"Come on, buddy, let’s go have some fun," He said excitedly.
"Yay!" Mikhail jumped up and down as he followed Andrew and walked in the direction of the roller coaster.
"You want to speak to me, Moma?" Lake asked in a deep voice as they now stood alone.
Audrey felt her wolf purr. The way Lake called her Moma was very different from the way Mikhail did, and she didn’t think she still wanted her son to keep calling her that; it would now seem wrong to her.
She took a deep breath and faced him.
"Mr. Aloha-"
"Lake," He corrected calmly.
"I prefer to stay professional with you," She informed. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
He walked closer to her, standing beside her.
"Since we have a child together, I don’t think we should professionally refer to each other, how about, Sweetheart?" He leaned his face down to her ear.
Audrey shook her head and took a step back.
"No, I don’t think so. Mr. Aloha, please refrain from saying this out loud; people might start to believe that we actually had a child together," Audrey warned.
Lake stared at Audrey, and suddenly, the idea of having a child with her enticed his wolf. They wanted to feel the pride of planting their seed into such a beautiful woman, and the process of making a baby pleased him, too.
"Then," He caught Audrey’s arm and drew her closer to himself. "How about we actually make a baby together, Kitten? I promise to be the best husband, mate you’ve ever had," Lake found himself saying.
He had just wanted to tease her, but hearing the words he said from his mouth, he didn’t regret saying any of them. He only wished she accepted his offer.
Audrey froze.
How could he casually be throwing words like that around?
Does he know the depth at which she felt them?
"Stop this, Mr. Aloha-"
"I dare you, kitten, call me Mr. Aloha one more time, and I’ll kiss you right here, right now; I dare you," He whispered beside her face, staring at her inviting lips.
"Okay...Lake, please release me; people are starting to stare at us," Audrey said gently.
She was still in his arms and didn’t want to take chances and get kissed by him in public.
Lake slowly released her and stepped away from her. "So, what did you want to talk about?" He asked.
Audrey cleared her throat before replying.
"It’s about my son-"
"Our son..." Lake corrected.
Audrey bit her lips and clenched fists, he was getting more and more annoying as the day went by.
"Well, about Mikhail, you know what you did could be termed as kidnapping. You picked up someone’s child from school without informing the parent; if I reported to the police, you’d be charged with kidnapping," Audrey explained.
Lake remained quiet and listened.
"I know he’s asked you to be his father, but we both know he’s just a child. Do not let him believe that you’re his real father...you’re not. And if you ever want to take him out somewhere, please, do let me know. He’s all I got; I can’t afford to lose another person that I love," Audrey spoke softly, staring into the distance and watching some children playing with their father.
She sighed and removed her eyes from there; sometimes, she wished she were a human, free of all the spiritual and magical drama.
But she wasn’t; she was an Alpha wolf and the first and most powerful witch; these titles came with a price of their own.
"The person you loved and lost...was it Mikhail’s father?" Lake asked, slowly walking to stand in front of her so he could look into her eyes.
Audrey looked up at him, his question was ironic as he didn’t know that he was talking about himself.
"Yes. It’s Mikhail’s father," She replied with a sad sigh.
Lake nodded slowly. "You must have loved him very much..." He paused, feeling his wolf whimpering at what he’d said.
He was hurting from the idea of Audrey loving another man who wasn’t him. He wished he’d met her before him.
"I did..." She locked her eyes with his, "and still do..." She confessed indirectly.
Like took a step back, sadness watching over his features.
Audrey knew he’d feel unease with her words, even though she was referring to him; he had no idea what she was talking about.
He’d probably be thinking that she was talking about another man. But it was better that way, hurting him was the best way to keep him away from her.
"Where is he? The father, what happened to him?" Lake asked.
Audrey chuckled sadly.
"I left him...he was too good for me..." She replied.
Lake couldn’t understand her reason.
Why would she leave him just because he was too good for her?
But he didn’t care. Whatever the reason was, he was glad they separated; if not, he wouldn’t have met someone who made him feel again.
He didn’t know what this feeling he was having for her was, but he was ready to patiently pursue it and see where it would lead them.
"I see." He moved back to her front again.
"I will do as you’ve asked regarding Mikhail. I promise to tell you whenever I’m going out with him or picking him up from school, I want to be the father he never had if you’d let me...please," Lake begged.
Audrey’s heart tugged painfully. He was such a gentleman when it came to his son.
She already promised her son that he’d get to spend more time with Lake, so why not just let them spend time with each other, as long as she was out of the picture?
"No problem, Lake, thank you for understanding me," She smiled up at him.
Lake nodded and in the next second, Audrey found herself in his arms.
His arms were strongly wrapped behind her lower back, pressing her against him.
"And as for you and your lost lover, trust me. I’ll make you forget him in no time. I don’t know what I feel for you; it’s confusing me. But I promise, you’ll be mine in the end," He kissed her cheek and walked away, heading in the direction of the roller coaster.
Audrey stood shocked in her position.
Lake never failed to leave her speechless, be it in the past or the present.
