Chapter 136: Flesh golems

Alpha Lake had ordered the pack warriors to spread out across the borders, asking some to stay behind and guard the safe house where they had moved all the women and children.

He was left with Andrew and Alpha Sebastian by his side.

"You know, maybe you shouldn’t have said that to her," Andrew said cautiously.

Alpha Lake glared at him.

"Give me an honest reply, Andrew," He said calmly.

Andrew nodded, waiting for the question.

"If Alex were to be in Audrey’s shoes, would you let him go?" He asked, staring right at Andrew to see his expression.

And as he expected, Andrew frowned for a second and then shook his head.

Andrew sighed, "I wouldn’t." He replied.

Alpha Lake scoffed, then walked ahead. "Exactly. That’s why I can’t let her go, Andrew; she’s my life; if something happens to her, I’m ending my life in the next second," he said seriously.

Andrew and Alpha Sebastian shared a look behind him.

"Wow, who knew you were this romantic, two years ago, you were so-"

"Sebastian...drop it," Alpha Lake warned.

Alpha Sebastian chuckled, "Okay, fine, just because we’re facing a serious situation. After the war, trust me, my friend, I won’t let you off easily," He patted Alpha Lake’s shoulder.

Andrew was smiling as he watched his two Alpha friends argue.

"Hey, what’s that?" Alpha Sebastian asked, pointing up to the sky.

Alpha Lake and Andrew followed his finger and looked up, seeing the shimmering ethereal veil that undulated with a soft, blue-purple glow

"What is that?" Alpha Sebastian asked, feeling like the foggy tendrils in the sky were reaching down to touch him.

"It’s a protection spell, Alpha," they heard a voice behind them.

Alpha Lake turned to see a short girl with short blonde hair; her white flowing pants and top made him recognize her immediately.

"You’re a white witch," He wasn’t asking.

The girl nodded.

"Yes, Alpha. My name is Green," Green bowed her head to him.

Alpha Sebastian suddenly chuckled, "Should have been White," He commented, chuckling at her name.

Green turned her face to Alpha Sebastian, with no single smile on her face as she stared coldly at him.

"I do not tolerate mockery, Sebastian," Green said with a straight face, and in the next second, Alpha Sebastian fell to the floor on his knees and put his hands together like he was praying.

"I’m sorry, forgive my ill manners, Green," He said, remorseful.

"Good," Green said curtly and removed her eyes from Alpha Sebastian.

The moment she looked away from him, he shook his head and rubbed his eyes, staring at everyone strangely.

"How did I get to the floor?" He questioned Andrew, glaring at him.

Andrew exchanged a look with Alpha Lake and smirked and Alpha Sebastian.

"You went down on your knees by yourself and apologized to Green, Alpha Sebastian," Andrew said, a satisfactory smile on his face.

Alpha Sebastian snapped his head to Green; he briefly glanced at Alpha Lake, then focused back on Green.

He quickly stood, dusting his knees, then marched up to Green.

"Hey, little white lady, what did you do to-"

"The great one had sent me to be by your side, Alpha," Green said to Alpha Lake, ignoring Alpha Sebastian behind her.

"Just quit it, Alpha; she’s got her eyes on you," Andrew whispered to Alpha Sebastian.

Alpha Lake stared at the girl and nodded, "Where is she?" He asked Green.

Green pointed at the sky, "She’s helping the sisters create a strong boundary, Alpha," Green informed softly.

"I see. Have you found any creature inside the pack borders yet?" He started walking into the forest; he needed to see Audrey.

Green followed him behind, ignoring Alpha Sebastain’s stare.

"No, Alpha. We’ve made sure to secure the whole area, and we have been ordered to fight alongside your warriors," Green spoke quietly as they walked into the forest.

Alpha Lake nodded, looking around the area for any signs of something strange.

"Which side is she?" He paused in front of the vined trees and turned to Green.

"Follow me, Alpha, I’ll lead you to her," Green replied and marched ahead.

"She thinks she’s bad huh?" Alpha Sebastian whispered to Andrew as they followed Green behind.

"She got you on your knees though," Andrew reminded.

Alpha Sebastian frowned, glaring at Green’s back.

"Soon, Andrew, soon, I’ll have her on her knees too," He smiled, planning ways he would get back at Green.

"Maybe next time, you’ll grovel," Andrew said to him, chuckling lightly.

"Shh," Alpha Lake paused, holding a hand up at his friends.

"Green, do you hear that?" He asked quietly, not wanting to miss the sound.

Green closed her eyes, then slowly nodded.

"Yes, Alpha. It’s the Fleshgolems, and they might be our major problem now," Green said, turning her face sharply and monitoring the whole area.

"We have to hurry and inform the great one, Alpha, before it’s too late," Green said and walked on, her pace increasing.

"What are the Fleshgolems?" Alpha Lake questioned, walking faster too.

Green took out a white bandana and tied her hair with it. "They are humanoid creatures created from stitched-together corpses. Alpha, just like Carnifexes, feed on human flesh to sustain their unnatural existence. But unlike other dark creatures who can’t cross the protected borders, these Fleshgolems have an advantage because they’ve bonded with Earth," Green explained

"How? What do you mean?" Alpha Sebastian asked with a frown.

"Where other creatures can’t go through the borders, Fleshgolems could penetrate the border by going through the earth as a travel medium. Since their souls have connected to the ground, they have the access to use it at their will," Green narrated.

"Oh, fuck this," Alpha Sebastian cursed.

"Mind your language, Sebastian," Green warned.

Alpha Sebastian didn’t like the tone she spoke to him with, but he didn’t voice his concerns; now wasn’t the place or time.

"So, you’re saying, these Fleshgolems might likely pop up beneath my feet any seconds from now?" Alpha Sebastian asked, gluing his eyes to the ground as he walked.

"Yes, Sebastian, that’s what she meant," Alpha Lake replied impatiently.

"Alpha, do you know how we can get to the border faster?" Green suddenly stopped and asked.

"I’m sorry I do not possess the ability to teleport. I can only control a person or the mind of a creature, just like I did with Sebastian," Green said, a very faint smile playing on her lips as she stared at Sebastian, but she quickly looked away and turned serious immediately.

Alpha Lake didn’t need to ask why she wanted them to get to the border faster. She must have felt the creatures getting closer to the surface.

He turned around and faced Alpha Sebastian and Andrew, "We have to change if we want to get to the border before the Fleshgolems do. Sebastian, Green will ride you to the border," He ordered.

"Yes, Alpha," Andrew replied with a bow.

Alpha Sebastian snapped his head to Alpha Lake, his face turning into a frown.

"But, she can just run and-"

"Change, Sebastian, we’re running out of time," Alpha Lake commanded.

"Yes, Alpha King," Alpha Sebastian nodded.

The men all went behind a tree to take their clothes off so they could put them back on when they reached the border.

"What the fuck!" Alpha Sebastian almost fell to the floor when he saw Green in front of him. He quickly used his clothes to cover between his legs and glared at her.

"Hurry up, Sebastian; like the Alpha said, we don’t have much time," She said in a low voice and walked closer to him.

Alpha Sebastian moved back, moving away from her, "Stay away, stay away, Green, I’m warning you, I’m-"

"Change already," Green impatiently snatched his clothes from between his legs and waved it to his face.

"Time is ticking, Alpha and the Flesh golems are getting closer; change now," her tone was hard as she glared at him.

"Fine! Turn around," He glared back at her.

Green stared at him indifferently before facing away from him.

After they changed into their wolves, Green was comfortably sitting on Alpha Sebastian’s brown wolf as he ran through the forests, her hands wrapped around his strong neck.

Alpha Lake’s large wolf, Regal, was in front, running and weaving through the trees, the leaves crunching beneath their heavy paws as they ran.

When they were getting closer to the border, they saw a spot in front of them shoot out with bulgy earth, but they jumped over it and increased their speed.

"Hurry, they’re almost surfacing!" Green shouted amidst the strong wind.

Alpha Lake heard her and increased his speed, passing trees in a blur and jumping over fallen branches.

Soon, they could see Audrey with other witches holding their hands up in front of the humming magical border.

But before they could reach her, the ground in front of them suddenly spurt out with heavy dark sand, causing them to pause.

In the next second, A zombie-looking man crawled out of the ground, an awful smell spreading across the whole place.
