Chapter 37: Chapter 33: Swordbearer (Combined)_2

Even during the Calamity Land era, the 8th Page of the Black Tower suffered significant damage. Despite this, the Black Tower still stands as the pinnacle of existence throughout the entire Western Continent.

"Then forget it... I dare not vie for a student of the 8th Page."

Adams forced a wry smile. Although his status in the academic world was quite exalted, he was, at the end of the day, merely a 4-Ring practitioner and well aware of his own limitations.

"However, merely making his acquaintance should be fine." He took out a business card perforated with several golden roses. "Please pass this to Shiayar Egutt. Tell him that if he ever has the chance to visit Knowledge City, I would be very pleased to invite him to the Floren Historical Institute."

"I indeed wish to meet the young man who managed to gain the favor of both the 8th Page of the Black Tower and Her Royal Highness."

This time, Fioran did not refuse and accepted the business card. "I will pass it on to him."

Her gaze swept over the ruins below, and she spoke again. "Two weeks ago, this area experienced fluctuations from an Echo of History."

"But within a few hours, the Echo of History’s fluctuations completely vanished. By the time our people arrived, all traces were gone, making it impossible to enter again."

"An Echo of History occurred here?"

Adams looked surprised but then immediately understood. If not for the unearthing of that particular ancient ruin, it wouldn’t have alarmed Fioran, a Supervisory Envoy of her standing.

After pondering for a moment, he said, "Based on my experience, most Echoes of History are simply relic spaces. They usually contain precious extraordinary materials and might present certain trials, but generally, there’s nothing too unusual about them."

"However, the situation you’re describing is quite special, even among Echoes of History. Or perhaps... the person who first triggered this Echo of History is very special."

Adams mused, "To be exact, this Echo of History was opened specifically for him. If not for his arrival, it might have remained dormant for hundreds, even thousands of years, silently fading into obscurity."

"Is he a blood descendant of the powerful individual who created the Echo of History? An heir?"

"Or, possibly, he could even be the resurrected soul of an ancient. That’s not impossible."

Adams made several conjectures but didn’t dare to jump to conclusions. In his experience, this was an extremely rare occurrence.

Fioran nodded. Just as she was about to say more, a faint vibration came from her pocket.

Her expression turned serious. With a subtle wave of her hand, a gigantic Black Dragon swooped down with a roar, carrying her high into the sky, away from the crowd.

Once this was done, Fioran reached into her pocket, pulled out a pale blue crystal, and gently touched it.

The next moment, the crystal emitted a deep blue magical light that immediately coalesced into two vague, humanoid silhouettes of light.

This was the Fresta Empire’s communication network, built directly in the Astral Realm using Astral Wandering Spirits—Star Realm Creatures—as the medium.

By leveraging the unique nature of the Astral Realm, true zero-latency real-time communication was possible. In layman’s terms, it was the Astral Realm’s version of the World Wide Web or, to put it another way, like a popular group chat application.

Of course, due to the scarcity of Astral Wandering Spirits and the enormous expenditure of extraordinary material required to cultivate them, the privilege of using Astral Realm communication was exceedingly rare. Even Fioran herself seldom used it.

Fioran infused her spiritual power into the device and realized the Astral communication must have already been active; she was joining mid-conversation.

...

"Shiayar Egutt’s background is very mysterious and incredibly difficult to trace."

"At the age of twelve, he briefly appeared in the Arcane Arts City Lokiya and was taken as a disciple by one of the Black Tower’s 8th Page, Hathaway Altiano, the "Eternal One Page"."

"This was also the only time recorded in the Imperial information repository that the Golden Elf legend had ever taken a disciple."

"At fourteen, he and Enola arrived in the Empire Capital. Using two hundred Rhine gold coins—obtained from eradicating an unlawful gang in the Downtown area—as starting capital, they completed their initial accumulation of assets in an exceedingly short time."

"Popular literature, luxury goods, ornamental Pet Beasts—he has delved into many of the currently trending commercial markets in the Empire Capital. In fact, he single-handedly drove the emergence of some new categories."

"Later, for some unknown reason, he shifted his focus to archaeology. He not only invested a large sum of money but also traveled frequently between major cities within the Empire’s territory, incidentally completing numerous bounty missions from various Branch Jurisdictional Bureaus."

"Moreover, this diversion into archaeology did not affect the growth of his combat strength in the slightest."

"Based on the latest intelligence, his Pet Beasts reportedly include a snowy plains ferret skilled in Mental-type Illusion Techniques and a Space-type snub-nosed monkey with teleportation abilities."

"He and Enola should now be on the verge of breaking through—or have already broken through—the 2-Ring barrier. Once they officially achieve this breakthrough, their combat strength assessments in the Imperial information repository will both be raised to near 4-Ring levels."

"In my personal judgment, an ordinary master who has just reached 4-Ring would have less than a fifty percent chance of victory against either of them."

"It’s less that they are Legendary candidates and more that, as long as they don’t meet an untimely end, becoming Legendary figures is practically a certainty for them."
