Has Big Shot Fallen in Love Today?-Chapter 915: Are You a Superstar or a Third Wheel?
This New Year is different from last year.
Sheng Tang’s parents decided to go on vacation to the Maldives on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve. Senior Brother Xiao Zhou and his girlfriend Nanni would accompany them; Sheng Zong and grandpa would also leave the country on New Year’s Eve afternoon for a trip to Singapore.
When the family asked Sheng Tang where she planned to spend the New Year, she was a bit taken aback.
That feeling of unease suddenly seized her, like she had stepped into a void while walking a dark road.
Her mom noticed her discomfort and said, "You can come with us."
Senior Brother Xiao Zhou said, "It’s too late to get a visa now, isn’t it?"
"In that case, we’ll go next year." Her mom said.
Sheng Tang quickly adjusted her mood and laughed, "I don’t even know what the situation will be like next year. Go ahead without me. Besides, traveling during the holiday is really inconvenient for me, too many Asians around, getting recognized would be a hassle."
She continued, "Let’s have lunch on New Year’s Eve, and after we eat, I’ll take you to the airport. At night, I’ll go find Brother Zhou and a few friends for an all-nighter."
She said it with enthusiasm.
Dad said, "That sounds good."
He couldn’t have Sheng Tang visiting Senior Brother Dazhou because this year, Senior Brother Dazhou would be taking his wife and kids to his in-laws’ for New Year, and Sheng Tang couldn’t just tag along.
When they were making plans, they wanted to call Sheng Tang, but her phone was always unreachable.
The parents knew she was filming in the mountains.
Once they got through, Dad asked her when she would come home for New Year. Sheng Tang casually replied, "I probably won’t make it home for New Year this time, got to shoot."
Dad took it seriously.
They also thought about Sheng Zong and grandpa staying in the city, and that Sheng Tang and her brother could go keep grandpa company. Unexpectedly, grandpa had made other plans.
In the end, it was Sheng Tang who was left behind.
On New Year’s Eve, the whole family had lunch together, treating it as the New Year’s Eve dinner, then hurried to the airport.
Sheng Tang first saw off her parents and Senior Brother Xiao Zhou and his partner, then sent off grandpa and Sheng Zong.
Outside the airport, Sheng Tang stood in the chilly air, wearing a hat, a mask, and sunglasses. She paused for a full minute before taking out her phone to call Zhou Yu.
"Brother Zhou, how are you spending New Year’s Eve? Staying at home with your dad?" Sheng Tang asked.
"No, I’m at the rental apartment," replied Zhou Yu, "I fell out with my dad at the start of the year."
Zhou Yu’s dad often asked him for money for gambling.
Since middle school, Zhou Yu had been earning his own tuition, and he never felt he owed the old man anything.
He gave a fixed living allowance of three thousand a month, which was already quite generous.
But upon hearing that his annual salary might be extraordinarily high, possibly in the millions, his dad started acting up.
The result was that Zhou Yu nearly severed ties with him.
"That’s great, I’m coming over to your place." Sheng Tang said.
She knew Zhou Yu’s apartment.
When she arrived, she found Zhou Yu wasn’t alone; Qin Lin was surprisingly there too.
"What, your mom didn’t break your legs?"
Qin Lin rolled his eyes.
He used the excuse of traveling abroad to sneak out of the house, his parents were unaware.
Or maybe they did know.
But now that the kids are grown up, they can’t exactly beat them to death, so they turn a blind eye.
"Why are you here?" Qin Lin asked her too, "A big star coming to be a third wheel, don’t you care about your reputation?"
Sheng Tang didn’t care.
She explained her situation.
"I’m also to blame, I said I’d be filming in the mountains during New Year, and my parents took it seriously. When they were arranging their schedules, they didn’t expect Senior Brother Dazhou would go to his in-laws for New Year, nor did they expect my brother and grandpa to leave too." Sheng Tang sighed, "In a series of unforeseen circumstances, I was left behind."
Zhou Yu poured her a cup of hot water.
"It’s nothing, solitude is the usual state of life. Besides, you still have me." Zhou Yu said.
Normal friends might eventually get married and have kids, potentially drifting further from Sheng Tang, but Zhou Yu wouldn’t. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Even if he really had a partner, he’d ensure there was a comfortable place for Sheng Tang within his family.
