Harem Sync: Divine Edition-Chapter 50: Haru Mizuki
"Now!" Kira said, advancing against Vorath with explosive speed, claws extended, attacking in rapid combinations, high, low, sideways, changing angles with each movement.
Vorath retreated, taking quick steps backward as Kira attacked, maintaining a constant distance between them, but not out of fear; it was clear strategy, assessing her movement patterns.
Vorath, still retreating, raised his sword with one hand and brought it down directly at Kira in a vertical slash that would have split her in two.
Kira jumped out of the way...
Isabela appeared, defending, her flaming sword striking Vorath’s colossal blade and pushing it upward with explosive force, deflecting the trajectory of the blow, and in the same movement delivering a thrust directly into his exposed chest.
"IGNITION!" she shouted.
A wave of red fire exploded from the tip of her sword, flames expanding into a wide cone that completely engulfed Vorath. It was very fiery.
Vorath had defended himself by placing his broadsword in front of him as a shield, dark energy surrounding the blade absorbing some of the flames but not all of them.
Kira was already behind Vorath, in the air, with claws descending, aiming for his exposed nape...
By a hair’s breadth, it was just air; Vorath had teleported ten meters away.
"You got caught, didn’t you?!" Isabela asked, turning her back to Kira, the two observing the arena, searching for where he had appeared.
"The guy is so skilled in his art that he distributes different forces to different people..." Kira replied, having noticed the pattern. "When he attacks you, he uses full force. When he attacks me, he holds back a little."
"So I defend the blows for you, and you take advantage of the openings," Isabela concluded.
They advanced again using their previous dynamic, with natural coordination, Kira attacking quickly, creating constant pressure, and every time Vorath counterattacked specifically, Isabela stepped in front of the attacks aimed at Kira, defending and managing to block because he wasn’t using full force against the beastkin.
Vorath began to understand this after five exchanges.
And then he drastically increased the pressure on his sword.
The next slash carried a lot of mana, distorting the space it passed through.
Kira and Isabela dodged in opposite directions, not trying to block because they instinctively felt it would pierce any defense.
They created distance, retreating to fifteen meters to create space.
Vorath raised his free left hand, and above his palm a kind of black sphere began to emerge, growing slowly.
"Kira," Isabela said, positioning herself, her body turning sideways into a thrusting stance, "I want you to not give him time to think now. As soon as he releases that sphere..."
Isabela took a deep breath, filling her chest completely, the flames surrounding the sword intensifying.
"I’m going to do something!" she added.
Kira nodded, crouching into a running stance.
Isabela continued to gasp for air, her breathing deep and controlled, oxygen filling her lungs beyond normal capacity, her body beginning to glow faintly with increasing internal heat.
Vorath launched the sphere.
It came quickly, leaving a trail of distorted energy in the air and whizzing loudly.
Kira charged straight towards the sphere without deviating, absolute confidence.
The sphere came towards her, three meters, two meters...
Isabela passed Kira like a red blur and cut the sphere in half with a perfect vertical strike, the sword catching fire, splitting the condensed energy into two halves that exploded to the sides instead of forward. A lot of fire was released, waves of heat and flames covering everything.
Vorath, who was waiting for Kira, came face to face with Isabela, who had passed through the explosion of her own sphere and was coming towards him covered in fire.
He defended against her blow, his sword blocking the thrust, but the impact sent him sliding backward.
With no time to recover, Kira was already there, coming from the side and crushing him with a brutal tackle to the flank.
Vorath was pushed further back.
Isabela took another deep, quick breath and delivered a vertical upward kick with everything she had, flames exploding on impact and launching Vorath into the air.
Kira had already jumped higher, receiving him from above with a downward kick that sent his body forcefully back to the ground.
A crater formed where he landed.
Isabela inhaled again, drawing air and filling her lungs to the maximum, the fire intensifying around her, flames rising up her arms and entire body.
That was her sword technique, exchanging body oxygen for massive firepower, burning her own life energy to fuel the flames.
Both advanced like beams of light, orange and red, straight for Vorath who was still recovering from the fall.
Kira got there first...
Vorath punched her with brutal force that sent Kira flying backward, her body passing right by Isabela who was right behind her.
Isabela didn’t reach Vorath.
Vorath reached her, a short teleport placing him centimeters away.
She finished the horizontal strike even before he was fully prepared, releasing all the accumulated energy in a cut that carried flames so intense that the blade glowed white.
Vorath caught it with his bare left hand, showing no pain, holding it firmly even as the flames climbed up his arm.
He pulled her close, his flaming eyes focused directly on hers.
"Your sword technique is good... but it takes time to fully burn."
Vorath raised his sword to finish.
Kira came to his side in a last effort and jumped, grabbing Isabela by the waist, the two rolling away as Vorath’s sword descended, cracking the ground.
Vorath straightened up, looking at them from a distance.
And then something changed.
His body began to smoke, releasing black vapor that rose in spirals.
The armor fell piece by piece, and the skeleton beneath became completely black like polished obsidian.
The armor fell piece by piece, and the skeleton beneath was completely black like polished obsidian. An ethereal body formed around the bones, simulating a faintly glowing human form.
It began to walk towards them.
Not fast. Not teleporting. Just walking with measured steps.
Kira spat blood, falling to her knees, the second tail gradually disappearing, becoming one again.
The transformation was over; she no longer had the energy to sustain that mode.
"Redhead... I don’t think I can anymore..."
"Stay there," Isabela said firmly, standing up even though she was trembling.
She took a deep breath and advanced alone.
Vorath unleashed a blast with his sword, a wave of cutting energy that tore through the air.
Isabela defended with her flaming sword, but the impact pulled her back, sliding several meters, and when the blast finally dissipated, her sword broke in half, leaving only half the blade in her hand.
The residual energy exploded around her, sending her crashing to the ground.
Vorath, still walking, raised his sword for another energy-charged slash.
Isabela ran back, picked Kira up, and carried her as the blast narrowly missed them, exploding and lifting earth and rocks.
They hid behind a large rock, breathing heavily.
"His power has increased absurdly..." Isabela murmured, looking at the broken sword in her hand.
"What if we get to the Core and take it?" Kira suddenly suggested.
Isabela turned to her. "What!?"
"What if we take the core?"
"Then it will disintegrate, but how will we get there with it chasing us?"
Kira looked at her own hand, and the spiral symbol began to glow faintly again, weak but still active.
"I’ll distract him and you go to the core..."
"No," Isabela wanted to refuse immediately. "You’ll die if..."
"Redhead..." Kira smiled. "I’m the one who’s fast enough to dodge his blows. You, with that broken sword, won’t even come close."
Vorath appeared.
They didn’t sense his presence, nor did they hear footsteps; they only suddenly saw him in front of them, his sword already raised, completely charged with energy.
"Impossible!!"
"Dodge... is it?" he said, lowering his sword.
Suddenly...
An explosion that echoed throughout the entire arena, with a shockwave that threw Isabela and Kira far away. Dust like a dense cloud covered everything.
Isabela woke up coughing.
"Kira!...Kira!"
Coughing beside her, Kira replied: "I’m here..."
"What happened!?"
In the middle of the dust, two gray eyes shone with their own light.
The gray eyes turned to them for a moment, checking if they were alright, and then back to Vorath.
It was Haru...
Standing, defending Vorath’s colossal sword with his bare right hand, which smoked where it touched the metal.
Vorath trembled from the intense pressure, thrusting the sword with full force, the ground cracking beneath Haru’s feet, and yet...
Haru stood there. Serious. Looking directly into Vorath’s flaming eyes without flinching.
Kira’s eyes began to tear up, relief exploding in her chest.
Isabela shouted: "HARU!"
Haru smiled, looking at Vorath, not a joyful smile, but the smile of someone who had finally arrived where he needed to be.
"What the hell are you..." Vorath asked, genuinely confused for the first time in the entire fight.
"Mizuki."
"Haru Mizuki."
